What is this exactly? Well, I think it would be cool to have quite a few different guest rooms giving out free candy on Halloween, but in this case, unless we can buy candy to give out, we'll have to resort to giving other items away instead. They don't have to be much or anything special, just a little something for those who visit and say "Trick or Treat" to get in the spirit of Halloween.

Anyone willing to participate in this player created event, please post any necessary information, ie the name of the room, maybe a little details regarding. I hope many people will be interested and together we could create a virtual Trick or Treat for everyone who won't have a chance or is too old to go out on Halloween :D

I will be donating between 200-500 Haunted Mansion 1/9 Pins to help with the event.

Date: The entire day of Oct 31st, 2006. You don't need to be on all day, it's up to you how long you keep your room open.

Current News

A few have been questioning and I would just like to make this clear. There isn't a limit to how many participants we can have other than the number of players on VMK, meaning, anyone who wants to join in the fun and pass out treats to people, are more than welcome. The more treats the better :D

From Acepowerboy: On the teleporter problem just add a piece of track to the Exit one and they can't get back in, if we link room to room.
- Check out post #125 for a picture to help.

Alright, after some debate we're going to try and link the rooms in a series so that guests will start at one room and follow a Coffin Teleporter to the next room so they can visit every room participating. We think this is a much better idea than a hub and it will also give guests a chance to go on a spooky halloween adventure throughout our rooms. You may link with each other if you wish, but please make sure we keep it so that traffic flow is directed from room to room. If anyone needs any help with either getting the teleporters or setting up the links, please send me a PM and we can sort it out.

** For those who are concerned about the same person visiting over and over to get multiple treats, how its handled will be up to you. Use your own discretion and if you feel someone is trying to take advantage of it, then ask them to move along politely. All room owners know if things get out of hand, there is a friendly Boot button to your advantage. Also, have a look at the next suggestion :)

** Awesome suggestion by keytopper! If you have a Kiosk, it could be setup to automatically hand out the treats with a single task asking them to say "Trick or Treat"; Fill your Kiosk with as many prizes you want to give out, then set under the options instead of a timed quest, select "until prizes run out". Woot! No worries with trading issues or people asking for more, thanks so much!

We can figure out the teleporter situation as we get closer to the event, but this should give everyone plenty of time to get 500 credits for a set of teleporters, if they so chose to ;) Coffin Teleporters can be stacked (sorta) like Monster's doors, plus they are very very spooky.

It doesn't have to be much at all, just like the idea of giving a piece of gum to trick or treaters, lol. I'm donating quite a few HM 1/9 pins to help out, so you'd be more than welcome to a few. Also, its the full day of the 31st and you're not required to be on for the entire duration, just have your room open when you can. ;)

So far we have one room linked via Coffin Teleporters (thenishall's). If you'd like to do the same, send me a message and we can figure something out. Again, its entirely optional if you want to or not.

I've sent a nice note to VMK by the Contact Us letting them know what we're up to in hopes they may support the event with maybe a little mention on the homepage getting closer to Halloween, or anything else they might be able to do. If I get a response, I will be sure to post it and keep everyone informed :)

Personally I really like #2 and think it would be much better than having a central Hub. Room order is not important, random would probably be the most fun for the trick or treat crowd :)

Cool idea as long as you have a sure-fire way of giving out the prizes, like a quick question to get them to say "Trick or Treat" :D I think a non-timed quest would work best with many prizes for everyone to play, also the same person couldn't play that mini quest multiple times unless you started another. I'm thinking I may do this too, which would save a lot of trading. Very nice!

Sure. The only concerns are the length of time your ride will be and if you'd be giving out treats or not. Our goal is to keep the flow going throughout all of the rooms participating. Also, each room should be giving out free treats to those saying Trick or Treat. Maybe the best idea would be to have a room that links to your ride and the Trick or Treat rooms in the series?

Very cool :) I've added a section called Volunteer Help and if you decide you'd like to have a room with the event, please let me know and I'll modify that. I think we may need some help in various rooms just sort of, keeping the peace, by helping traffic flow and those room owners who may need a hand if their room becomes really busy.

Very cool :) I've added a section called Volunteer Help and if you decide you'd like to have a room with the event, please let me know and I'll modify that. I think we may need some help in various rooms just sort of, keeping the peace, by helping traffic flow and those room owners who may need a hand if their room becomes really busy.

We're getting closer and closer to the big event and so far a few rooms are linked in series. At the moment 30 have confirmed and we have 3 maybes, but of course we'd like to have more participate. If anyone is having problems either with their room, teleporters or treats, please PM and let me know so that we can work out the bugs before-hand. :)

I think for room descriptions there should be "Trick or Treat" somewhere in the actual description or room title. A short spooky story there might be fun too.

Of course, theres always room for more :) I've added you and post or PM when you decide on a room title. You don't have to have the Mansion room and its entirely up to you how you create your room and decorations.

The mansion room is in high demand and its not expected you have this room. For example, mine is currently in a Pirate Cannon room because I wasn't able to do the Halloween quest or able to make a trade for a Mansion room. Again, the room depends on you and how you want to design it, so please don't think you have to have the most rare room or items in it ;)

The quests will be like other quests in the sense that you can only replay them if they've been changed or started over again. So in theory if a quest runs out of prizes and the owner decides to fill it with more by creating a new quest, someone could play that quest again.

We were sort of leaning away from a hub idea to make it easier for people to know they've visited each room. A central hub with 35+ (so far) Everest teleporters could get confusing without pictures, so it would probably have to be in Maleficent's Fortress due to poster space. We're a little over a month away and I'm sure many more will join in.

There won't be a start or finish, just one big loop. I could use my room to complete the loop so that the last person ready to link, links to it and there we go.

If this isn't what you meant, please post more detail, I'm intrigued :)

Added :) The due date is of course, Halloween Oct 31st, but it would be a good idea to have your room ready a day ahead of time just incase. We're also trying to get the rooms linked together before then to ensure the event will function properly.

You can link, but the major requirement is that your room will be giving out free treats to people who come in and say Trick or Treat. A little ride is ok inside that room, however, we are trying to get the guests to venture through the various rooms involved. As long as it keeps them on track, I don't see a problem with it or a type of maze in the room. I can add you when you confirm :)

Hey Jeremyv, I would like to enter my room. I set the Quest Kiosk to give out my treat all you have to do is say Trick or treat! and you get a gift. I have over 201 Items in it, from Tron furnitures to magic firework pins. Tikis stuff you name it and it could be in the kiosk. (Sorry no Inferno) Can't wait for Halloween. On the teleporter problem just add a piece of track to the Exit one and they can't get back in, if we link room to room. See picture.

That is true. The way I am planning to arrange the traffic through my room is; you get out of the teleporter and imediately into a line which goes to me, then out through the other teleporter. The main entrance will be blocked off. If anyone tries to come in, I will direct them to the start of the event. So I will have one incoming source and one outgoing source.

Thanks for confirming a great solution. I've considered using ride parts to send guests into the teleporter and to ride on coming out, but haven't had the chance to actually try it out yet. This would be an excellent method to ensure traffic flow throughout the rooms.

Heya if your still taking people for this I would love to enter a room! I love Halloween it's my favorite holiday! I can only be on in the morning - afternoon time because I will be out trick or treating this year on the night of the 31st :). If I can I would like to enter two rooms.


1st rooms: Pumpkin Prison. This is a pirate prison room with a jaint walk through of pumpkins and a person sitting in a chair close to the entrance handing out 'candy'. A teleporter leads to a fortress room - Tikis town square where another person will be sitting and handing out as well. These rooms will have skellatons at the helm,toy soldiers,snowmen,pumpkins everything in a halloween setting. Rather it's those snowmen standing at a door teleporter with a fellow skull at the helm trick or treating or its an evil toy soldier apearing as a shadow from the darkness. These will be sure to put the spirit of halloween in everyone!

2cnd rooms: In our Haunted House. This is a haunted mansion conservatory made up of haunted furniture, haunted trees and more. This room has a candy hander and many other surprises along with a teleporter that leads to a room called The trick or treaters of Vmk. A room ligned with doors and at those doors people (vmk players) with a table and a pumpkin of candy. Standing before them either (hired vmk players) or pumpkins,snowmen,trees and other faced things. As the day moves on the people giving out candy and the people reciving it change so do the houses ( I will try and make little houses) ;)

How long you keep your room open is entirely up to you. I'd say the best way of handing out free treats would be with a Kiosk, and if you have other things to do, just perodically check on your room. I'm sure the traffic though will keep people going into it.

in one of my posts on here i asked if instead of the event being held on halloween, if we could do it the day before. but i now have a better idea:

What if we did it both October 30 & 31? that way those that are part of it could give out treats on VMK, and possibly still be able to trick-or-treat in the real world. if this is possible you can change my maybe to a yes.
If (again) you say yes to this, this is my info:

I was thinking about that in school!!!

No offense jeremy but like i was trying to say wouldn't my idea be a good one? that way we can have 2 days for those that don't want to do it on halloween but still want to give treats out to vmkers. this would really only make common sense to do this for those that want to help out. for instance, i want to help out but can't do it because i am trck-or-treating with my friends. but october the 30th i will be on VMK anyway so this would be a good thing.

He quit. Which means that he won't be on VMK. And what he meant about "Search me" is that you would go to guest rooms and put in for the name of room/person CL_jeremyv.
