Something that has caught my attention over the past few days is how easily a picture can be edited. The reason I am bringing this up, is because there might be people in the forums who do this to trick many people, or in other words, as a scam. Allow me to demonstrate some editing techniques some may use, and how to tell the difference between what's real, and what's plainly edited. I have a few examples of edits I did myself, and believe me, it was easy. I was actually able to enhance the number of stars my magic had, and multiply how much magic I had. I was also able to change the pins I was wearing, the badges, and even many more things. (I will show you these pics later.)

If you were looking at these pictures from a normal VMK Pic perspective, you wouldn't notice a thing. You mgiht be suspicious and might think it's edited, but you probably might not find much proof if the creator was good at editing. Even adding stars to magic is easy as 1, 2, 3. all you have to do is place the pic in the Paint program, zoom in 8X using the magnifier glass, and look closely at the star. Then, use the 'eyedrop' item to take the colors from the star and create another one next to it, approximately two small pixels next to it. If done correctly, you would have efficiently recreated a star.

That's all I will say for now. Just be careful and if you are suspicious of any pic, be sure to look closely in on it. There will always be some proof if it was edited or not.

If I give you a picture of a churro pin could you edit it for me so that it has 5 stars then give me the picture with five stars? I will give you a churro pin pic if you do that for me!

Other people who edit pictures have the experience and are able to tell when it isn't as obvious, but in the example you've shown, its very obvious.

1) Although the image has been compressed slightly, there is still a noticeable difference around the badges which does not blend well with the background. To remove it, try adding a little blur ;)

2) You've cut the badges too thin and can see they're not completely round at the sides.

3) Around the pins and text you've edited there is a noticeable difference in colour, indicating you've cut & pasted.

4) Staff do not need a CL badge?

Good effort though :)

Just to demonstrate how easy it is to make stars, here is another pic. this time, I added the stars to the POTC Pin. This way, you know I didn't just copy and paste the stars. Thanks for the tips as well jeremyv, oh and the one about staff not needing a CL badge, i'm using the QA badges, which involve all four of these, but I didn't put QA_ before Sky. Oh, and for the churro pin, if you do post it, i'll add the stars. :)

Actually, it kind of has to do with picture editing, that is, making signatures. However, if it doesn't, go ahead a delete it mods, and sorry. Check your messages Lava. I sent you some info on signatures there.

Oh, just to clear something up jeremyv, I didn't cut the badges too thin. Occasionally, VMK cuts them too thin if their wearers have two or more I presume. Here's a pic combining signatures of various Staff and CL's and their pins. Notice how most have been cut thin by VMK. I left the last one with CL_F so that you know I didn't just make them up. The rest were cut off for privacy.

EDIT- Unfortunately I couldn't add the pic from the computer I am on. I will try again some other time, but if you think i'm wrong check all people with more than two badges or four badges. They will mostly have badges cut 'too thin'.

I have to agree with Darth's first post in this thread explaining that you should always keep a watchful eye out of editing. Although there are some really good graphic creator/editors in this forum, there are also many amateurs. As Darth side, it would be a great idea to always, always check to see if you can see any editing in a picture. However small, there must be some proof, just hidden deep in there. And might I remind everyone as the old saying goes, "If it looks too good to be true, it probably is." So just keep all this in mind when conducting trades after viewing pictures off of this forum that it could be edited.

And to those out there who might've scammed others by editing their pictures, you should be ashamed of yourselves ;).
