Seeing from the posts, I see that a good amount of VMK players miss the Beta days. The days of Beta had a friendly environment and players. I, myself, miss those days also. So I decided to compose a list of things to help make VMK Today, like Beta VMK. Feel free to post comments about the list or things to add to the list.

List of things of what us, players, should do to make VMK like Beta VMK (According to my opinon and other players' opinions)
1. Do not do taken, armies, or baby stuff
2. Treat players as you want to be treated.
3. When a new player joins VMK, give up some time to help the new player get started. Don't forget to welcome them! Also, make sure to explain the taken, armies, and baby stuff. Make sure they understand about what it is, and tell them the cons of them. I believe VMK is against this also, so infrom them about that also.
4. Respect all players, staff, and testers in the game.
5. Follow VMK Values
6. Try not to use dictionary dances to say bad things to other players
7. Do not black mail another player to get the stuff you want.
8. When in another player's room, respect the owner's rules.
9. Do not try to act like violent animals. This only makes VMK non G- rated.
10. Do not try to play or host games like cute or boot, boys meet girls, girls meet boys, etc. These rooms do not win Best Guest Room.
11. Do not ask other players for free stuff.
12. Ask before trade.
13. Don't forget to say "please" and "thank you." It really does add a lot.:D
14. If you do not like the way the owner runs the room or what game they are playing, then leave the room. Do not pick a fight with the owner to get what you want. These fights can end with a ban.
15. Try to refrain from saying bad words. It is not so hard to say the right thing. Instead of *beep* you can say something like: Oh well, or Good game, or Darn, etc.
16. If you see someone doing bad things don't report them right away. Explain to them why what they are doing is wrong in the nicest way possible and just give them a chance to be nice! (Thank you CurlySlim for this wonderful tip)
17. Only contact VMK in-game only if it's a deep emergency. If you send them small problems, VMK may get annoyed and begin to stop trusting you. This hires your chances of getting banned (Ex. Someone files a false report about you. You tell them that they're lying. VMK doesn't listen. You get banned.)
18. Don't forget, you have an "ignore" button. Use it if someone is annoying you (The bad way of annoying. Maybe not for the fun play type of annoying.)
19. Do NOT use Caps in VMK to say where you live, your name, any type of personal info! It is against the VMK Values to give out personal info and highly dangerous! (Thank you daisymoomoocow for this wonderful tip)


Try keeping this list in mind as you play VMK.

Hi I missed beta and started in late August 2005, played and had fun till mid November, did something dumb, got banned for 8 months and am so happy that I can play the game again. This is my long term mission- To bring back the feeling of Beta days. The least we can do is to try to follow this list. I would love to be your friend in VMK and thanks for agreeing with me. Enjoy your day also.:)

I was here alittle after beta started and i did enjoy it a lot more.. everyone was nicer and all the taken crud wasn't here.. I really do miss it and I think we should start a club to change vmk for the better and make it more like beta

Taken was almost always around. Maybe the first 3-4 days of beta there was not taken. But yes, it was always here.

hey yea.. back then ppl were not crazy in trade rooms and bc there was little rare to trade for the main things ppl did was have fun with old friends as well as make new friends and nobody made fun of you if you were new and did not no everything about vmk.. everyone was just very friendly and somehow, and i am sad to say it, but ever since vmk got more quest items and rare items into vmk, that is what has made ppl all crazy on vmk and obsessed with scams and cheating each other out of their stuff as well as not taking the time out of their frenzied searches for rare items to help out a player in need of a friend and some help to make their way in vmk.. a place that is supposed to be a representaion of that happy place walt disney created..

I was here since March, and I kept on seeing that, Now I know it's wrong, and I wish I was back in beta to experience peace and quiet. Aww, well VMK should change there ways!

I joined like a month after beta sadly but I agree on the old VMK and how all this taken bay be and armies got started is all in the hands of staff....

Staff can't really do anything about this problem in VMK. Well, they can by including that in the rules. But it is us, players, that can really have a great impact whether this problem continues or not. So many players see that many players do not do taken, hopefully they'll quit also.

But i really do not like it and it should be banned from vmk no offence to the people who do this stuff. i also never seen so much of people using words on vmk in a bad way like today i saw someone at the pirates game get mad because they lost and they said

that we cheated and that it was a bunch of shirt well i reported that person right away because i knew what they meant.

I mean i understand you can get upset but you should not start getting mad about it and then start cursing. I mean sheesh its just a game people. I have seen alot of that big time lately.

also i have started reporting people for booting people out of games for no reason its not nice and i am very tired of it.

I have a question, so when it was vmk BETA, only certain ppl were allowed to join vmk, or how was it not open to the public?

Great Idea, we should call it the Old VMK, but you don't have to be here from beta. We can talk about what would make VMK better. Great Idea!

we should make up certain days of the week and times that we could all try to attend maybe we should make a list of people who support and/or are in this group.. What are we going to call it?

i agree vmk went down hill but it seems to me the out of control is scammers and hackers with the crazy banning to but that is all i see wrong vmk is perfect in all other corners

I'm not quite sure yet, but that is a good idea. Like I said in my earlier posts, we can create a small group and discuss the issues of VMK. We can also think of solutions for those issues. We will also think of ways to spread out our list to everyone. I hope to do that by saying the speech.

Same here, It was great back then...

I think once we divise our basic group we should have different people host different meetings.. maybe even have times where we split up going to different public places of vmk telling people about the old days and how much better it would be if they helped by sticking to these guidlines.

I'll lead and host this group if that's ok. There will be leaders of specific things though. I'll brainstorm the club a bit. I'll post in the Clans/Groups when we will start.

A day does not go by without seeing someone say to someone else "I hat you", often times for the silliest things as well. And this whole taken silliness is out of hand. I was standing on Main Street one day, there were a couple of other guys there too (my character is a boy). A girl comes on..couple second later..."you know if you all changed how you looked you'd have someone". Um...don't care...don't want someone...like being blue thank you. I went somewhere else.
I'll see if I can think of any suggestions for names, right now it's really time to get some sleep so nothing comes to mind.

I cant agree with you more! Just yesturday I was putting on a show, because i have created a new one.. anyways one of my ' friends' was disturbing the show and i had asked him politely many times to please sit down and stop disturbing everybody's good time. I then sent him a message asking him politely to please stop or i would have to result in booting him which i did not want to do. He didn't stop and therefore i had to result in booting him, once i did so he got very upset and since then he is not speaking to me.. :rolleyes:

It wouldn't look very good of VMK if they lose like 95% of their population due to dating problems, baby stuff, armies, etc. I do not want to lose any of my friends, so I'm trying to settle this in a peaceful way. I wasn't registered for the beta days, but I started until about two weeks after VMK first opened, so I have an idea of how those days were.
All players were like a FAMILY. IT was really feeling like a G-rated game compared to today. I really miss those days. There weren't lots of bans or anything, and taken and bay.be didn't even exist back then, when i joined:) I hope all of this stop so we can be a family again.

ok first, i now its rude for ppl to boot out of games but it is their game rooms so they can do what they want ..after all, it is their room( it is is vmk rules that ppl can boot for whatver reason they want from their own rooms) so you should not report them for that unless another vmk value was broken along with it ( like cursing while booting)

but your second thing you said i definitely agree with!!( especially if they are in a trade room and ask for free, i just say go to a free room!!! lol)

i totally agree with all of this...especially if some ppl on vmk use their room as like a falling chairs room...and they loose they call the owner a beach or something...just because they are loosing and also they should allow that...they are using words that sound like the bad word so that they will be able to say it or something like that

I miss the beta days alot. Espicially the old pirates game, I was just starting to get good at it :(. I remember when the Haunted Mansion game opened up. Good times good times. Great idea smrtfriendship. I hope everything will become like the beta days again ;).

i was there during beta but you are wrong about no armies i joinded as soon as they were made the only reason the armies dissapered for a while is that vmk used to ban anyone who did armies baby and taken stuff but it was there

Beta was more fun because there were less people. Say vmk is a cake, with less people there will be more cake for you, but now days there is a fine amount or people, its just that their corrupting the cake, with their dirty little hands.

lol i remeber the first week of vmk beta when there were only 152 ppl inside the kingdom, - signs - oh yeah those were the days. mules weren't invented yet and ppl just walk around instead of jumping from place to place on the maps, i miss beta!!!!!!!!!!! - tear tear -

it's true that there is more stuff to do but we made our own fun like playing hide and seek across vmk with our friends. it was up to us to make the fun instead of just going to host games- which are perfectly fine -

If many people boot you, just ignore them. It's either that they're busy, mean, or just doesn't want to be bothered. Do not report them because they boot you because VMK will get annoyed or just ignore the report all together. Don't waste time creating a report that maybe ignored! Also, booting someone for no reason is not in the VMK Values.

VMK must care if you share where you live. If you have seen the news lately, some people posted where they live in some of those "special" websites. Next thing they know it, poof! Kidnapped. There are criminals going online and posing as kids trying to get personal info from players. There are crazy people out there so VMK is doing this for our safety. Also, VMK does not know if you are actually friends in real life in the game unless you say so.

(Personal info includes birthday, where you live, age, what school you go to, what city you're in, phone number, etc. Do not share any of these! You do not want to be the next victim! )

Never seen the armies but I can't walk into a room without taken going on. I've seen a few of the bay be thing but not a lot. I'm wondering what the animal thing is someone mentioned. I'm especially fond of the no taken/boys meet girls/cute or boot stuff, as I have always found those to be some of the worst of the lot. I hope that more people follow these basic rules, as they can easily make the game better this way. :)

Yeah, I wish I'd been in VMK during beta; sounds like it was fun. I agree that taken, bay be, boys/girls, and cute or boot are not a good thing. For one thing, I tried cute or boot a few times, and I always got booted first round, why? Because my character, as you can see from my avatar if you look REALLY close, wears glasses, just like I do. It's just allowing prejudice into VMK. If you don't have blonde hair in cute or boot, you get the boot. If you don't wear a full dress with crown in cute or boot, you get the boot. Ridiculous.

While I don't think every single game of Cute or Boot is so prejudiced, it isn't truly a game: it is a proof of how rich you are and the opinions of the host. A well designed game relies more on the player's actual skill, not their budget. My sister in RL has recently started playing VMK, and she has gotten into Cute or Boot, for some of the exact reasons you stated. She's a blond character who managed to trade for a crown early on, and now she spends her time with these practices, seemingly thriving in it. It makes me sort of wish I hadn't introduced her to it. I could try to show her the rules, but she hasn't played for nearly as long as I have, and I'm sure she would think it is ridiculous. I sure don't.

BTW, I'm glad to hear I'm not the only person who likes to wear glasses in VMK. I wear them in RL, and am proud to wear them in the game. My sister, of course, thinks that they are an annoyance, and wouldn't dare put them on her character. But that's another issue that really has little to do with VMK...

VMK prettty much isn't against cute or boot because they made a real life shirt you can buy that says cute or boot right on it. And they also say that taken and bay be and animals isn't against the values, so... Maybe everyone should quit worrying so much about what is fun to other people. If you don;t like that stuff then don't have anything to do with it and ignore it. I can pretty much bet that the peeps that are into taken and bay be and animals don't care too much about peeps that are into collecting rare items and costumes or making cool rooms so they ignore it and they seem to get along just fine without making some big anti-collector or anti-cool rooms rant. Maybe you could learn a little bit from the peeps that so many of you look down on.

But the people who do the whole taken won't let you be. I've been told that I should change my character to be "cute" so I could have someone. I like my character they way it is, blue and not "cute".

That's right. The "ignore" button is a powerful button.

P.S. To tell you the truth, VMK would be much different today if people used the "ignore" button for their small problems instead of reporting every bad move someone makes. Just an observation.;)

Beta and shortly after was paridise from reality. When all my friends were spaz-attack yet everyone acted like they were friends.

I wasn't there when all those things happen but i sounds like VMK back then was muck better.

I have seen post lately talking about "Get over it people! We can't bring back Beta Days!" Currently, it is very difficult to bring back the 100% taste of Beta. I am saying in this post that we can bring a small taste of Beta back, perhaps bringing Beta back. Yes, this seems impossible, but some things take a long journey to achieve. I am posting this to informing you guys that my mission is not impossible achieve. :-D

Aye, VMK can't do that. They would lose a lot of their population. Wouldn't look good for the game. Just better to try to make people stop doing that. Just need a good amount of the population to set the "Taken is not good" trend and have some people tell new guests that "Taken is not good." The first thing some guests learn is,"Taken is good, etc."

This is the same VMK from beta days. There arent two VMKs. People need to understand that. VMK has just changed over the times like the earth has. Some good things have happened in real life and some bad. Same with VMK. Martin Luther King Jr, Walt Disney, lots of things have changed. Just appreciate the good and get over all the bad. It's not so bad if you're optomistic about all the good things. Just avoid the bad and try to stop it. You never know, you CAN make a difference by just trying!

Good idea, except I don't think we have enough staff to help us out. The thing we can do is put in our signatures: Taken is not cool. or something like that. Just something that says Taken is not good. We have enough people do that, perhaps we can start a trend.

I don't think they can do that, cuz taken isn't against the values. Now, they don't support it in any way, but they can't say it's "not cool" because it's allowed in VMK.

I'm not thinking too negatively of VMK. I am just trying to get rid of the minor flaws that makes players quit (Some violence occuring in VMK, taken stuff, etc.). Yes, I am enjoying myself in VMK, I just want to get rid of the bad things.

It doesn't say specifically in the Values that taken is against the values. Yes, I agree also that it's PG. It can also be quite dangerous because it does lead people to do things against VMK Values.

Once again, not a good idea to ban people because they do taken. A good population of VMK will be gone because of that. Like I said, taken is not against the VMK Values. It's just that taken can make people do things against VMK Values, etc. Let's do it the peaceful way and just start a "Taken is not good trend" like I said earlier.

I know that there is no old VMK as in a different VMK. I know there has always been one VMK. Don't say that VMK has NEVER changed because it did. Comparing VMK now to VMK then, I've seen less rude people, greedy people, etc. The phrase "Old VMK" is specifically pointing to a time period in VMK where I had a great time (Kind of like saying the pre-cambrian times, medieval times, etc). It's a looong story. Like I said, if you don't like this post, don't rant about it here. Just ignore it and move on. Also, I'm not trying to rant that VMK is a very bad game. I'm simply trying to get rid of the minor flaws that has caused people to quit. Hopefully by getting rid of these minor flaws, this will cause less people to quit, make some of the mean peopl become nice, etc etc.

Like I said, if you do NOT like this post, ignore it. I am not trying to say everything in VMK is bad. I am trying to take out the minor flaws that cause people to quit. Please understand this.
