I did not write this. I found it on a site and decided to put it here. if this causes problems I will close it.
Firstly you need to take a screen shot, make sure your avatar is standing in the position you want them to be in, and then hit your print screen button.
Then go to a picture editing programme such as paint, Go to the Edit menu and click on paste or press Ctrl+V. this will bring up your screen shot so that you can edit it then you need to select the area around your avatar (see below)21199
Once you have selected the space around your avatar, press Ctrl+C or select copy from the Edit menu and then move or either paste it to the top left hand corner of the page and bring in the sides until they are lined up with the edges of your selected avatar like this:21200
Then zoom into the picture as much as possible and start to edit your picture, I find it helps if you white out most of the inner part of the avatar's clothes leaving just the outline and some of the shading,
Personally I start with the darkest colour that I am going to use first, and start with the outline, It's not always best to use black as your outline as it could make your costume look slightly odd, just use a darker shade of the colour you want the costume to be. As I said, start with the outline and work your way to the center with adding different shades of colour like this21201
As you can see the bigger square is what you see when you zoom in and the smaller is what it will look like when you zoom out. here is an example of what it will look like using the green
To make your finished picture as your avatar in here read and follow the steps set out in the 3rd post of this thread , I hope you have found this helpful and If anyone else has any more tips feel free to post them below
