a couple years ago, me and my sister went to disney world for mnsshp. when it was over, we went over to our bus stop. there were about 5-10 families ahead of us, and we got there just in time before the crowd really started to build up. by the time one pop bus arrived, 15 had gone for all stars, and there were only ten people there. the pop line was so long that it streched all the way to bus top 1. and pop was #18!! about an hour lter, 5 buses arrived at the same time. we finally got on, and most of the people on the bus were really cranky, especially the little kids.

this june, i went again to wdw and the same thing happened. i think wdw has some bus issues that need to be solved. what do you think?

Pop Century is considered a "value" resort, and it's fairly large (a couple of buildings per decade ;)). The busses for Pop Century appear few and far between. Since there are so many people staying at the resort, and barely enough busses at Disney, yes you're going to have to wait. Forever. That's just about the only reason I hate Pop Century. But it is cheap =D

well, just be glad it only goes to 1 hotel. There are some buses that make multiple stops at more than 1 hotel. I stayed in Boardwalk in July and the buses stopped at Swan, Dolphin, Yacht and Beachclub before going to Boardwalk. Port Orleans goes to Riverside and French Quarter. Grand Floridian goes to Wilderness Lodge. Contemporary goes to Polynesian. So, staying at the values resorts you only have one stop.

only the Pop Century has one bus stop, if you go to the other value resorts one bus stops at all three resorts except at the closing of the parks then they have a bus for each value resort. Since they are building a new resort next to the Pop it will probably make a stop there when it is open.

i've stayed at pop. what bus stop where you at? i remeber we left Magic kingdom after seeing fireworks and it took us an hour and a half to get back to pop it was 11:40 when we finally g ot there lol. my dad went back into the park and got us fries while we waited. at the other parks its not that long of a wait thought. but downtown disney after about 9ish, the bus takes about 30 minutes to get there. Also all of you saying pop century is a value resort, so is the All star resort. Epcot is the fastest to get on the bus for pop i think it's either epcot or mgm, which ever one also goes to blizzard beach. i forgot i haven't been to wdw in a year

I love pop century, it's my favorite hotel :). The bus lines can be very long though. We like to call it the "experiment" hotel, since it's still not finished. The reason the all star has so many buses is because that bus stops at 4different hotels! (it might be 3, not sure) Pop is also a great hotel because they're the only WDW hotel with slurpees! (yum...). The bus lines can be very long especially on special events. I went on an event and waited in a bus line that was a few hours long, it was 1:30 by the time we got back.

My understanding of the bus system at WDW is that it's based on as needed basis, meaning they have set in place technology that will designate where the bus drivers should pick up people based on how many are in the que (waiting area). For example, if a bus driver picks up guests at EPCOT and drops them off at say, The Wilderness Lodge and in the meantime the que back at EPCOT for, say, Port Orleans increases beyond the que for The Wilderness Lodge, when that driver returns to EPCOT, his or her signage will then be reassigned to Port Orleans and the driver will be notified by radio.

This is at least how the bus driver we got from The Magic Kingdom described it to us on the way back to Pop Century back in May. I'm inclined to think it is true since Disney is always on the cutting edge of technology and efficency.

Next time you go, you should tour the entire Pop Century Resort. There are a lot of fun sculptures!

Also be sure to check out all three All-Star Resorts (especially Movies)!

how could you stay at the 50's and not see the big wheel! you have to walk past it to get to the food place or am i thinking about the 90's? hmm anyways the giant Mr. and Mrs. Potato head are my favorites and the huge rubics cube near the stairs

I'm going to Pop Century in September. My last couple trips were Beach club, is Pop Century REALLY different or not so much? Thanks for the warning about the bus at mnsshp, and all the time, because I'm going to two mnsshp this trip.

Well, i don't know..the line moves fairly fast..but bus transportation period is just a pain at WDW.
And previous poster, they still have the same "Disney" feel, but Pop Century has the feel of being a kid again, and it's more of a motel then a hotel, as opposed to Beach Club being a hotel and feeling more like the New England beach vacation feel. I like both of them equally, but for different reasons.

I love all the resorts I've seen at Walt Disney World, but the All-Star and Pop Century Resorts are just so much fun! Yeah, sure, they're "value" resorts, but they're so perfectly designed! How could you not love giant dalmatians?

There are a few bus problems at WDW for sure.
My family and I once waited at least a 1/2 hour for a bus back to Old Key west from Blizzard beach. That was terrible.
They need a few more busses, and seating areas where you're waiting for the busses. Those would come in handy, especially on a hot day. Maybe even an indoor bus waiting station with a&c (hey we can dream right? and it is disney after all..)

Just some ideas

In my resent trip I stayed at the Polynesian. It was conviniant (sp?) because we stayed way in the back. There was a small path that led to the Ticket and Transport Center which is like bus village. It also had monorail access. Try to work something out like that. Yes it takes forever for buses LOL

Doesn't the Polynesian also have ferry access?

I think there are rare problems; that was just one of them.

A very friendly bus told me that there are about 200(?) buses running at a time day, but Disney owns 300(?) buses in all.

Plus, don't stay in any new hotels. I stay in All-Star Movies every time I go, and there are no real crowds, and the pool is nice. Biggest crowd I've seen for a bus takes up two rope lanes.
