View Full Version : Crazy Fireworks Game Theory
shiregirl 06-20-2005, 06:20 AM Please tell me if this sounds crazy. lol! I may be delusional. But I have a suspicion that the fireworks game starts getting nicer to you in points the longer you play. What I mean is this:
I was stuck around 223,000, I tried and tried and I could not do any better.
Then they added the fireworks magic pin thing and the sound effects. Next game, I shot up to 224,000. (A big improvement for me, lol. :D) After that I got 227,000. Then today I got 232,000 then 238,000, then 240,000! :D And I got my pin! Whee! Thing is, it seems a little convenient for me to keep going up so much in points. I'd like to believe that it's just practice, but I have a weird feeling about it.
Since this game is targeted for a young audience, maybe the game designers want them to be able to feel sense of accomplishment and pride. The more they play, the better they'll do.
Could be crazy. Tell me what you think. :)

I dunno. That kinda reminds me one day at an UltraZone (lazer tag zone)...
I was playing with my friends, and we were killing. It was like 50,000 points away from the second place team! The next game, something was wierd. Every shot the opposing team made killed everyone of us. Like, I would get shot and everyone on the team would die. It was so annoying. We still won, and I still made it in top 5, but still! I can't believe the staff would mess up the whole game just so the teams could do better.
So that may be what they're doing at VMK. Messing with the gameplay for a specific person so it SEEMS like they're doing better. Maybe not, but still...
Alexander 06-20-2005, 07:11 AM Nope, you're crazy. Or insanely lucky. :p
Personally, I played fireworks for a good chunk of the time I was on, and I only scored above 200K twice, both times beating my personal best. This was twice out of about 10 games, mind you.
SallySally 06-20-2005, 07:15 AM It is possible...
It is a known fact that video and computer games cheat. They have to be able to cheat, or human players will catch on to the patterns and win every time. Not much of a challenge.
Maybe the games in VMK randomize a bit.
Congrats on winning the pin! :)

Maybe the games in VMK randomize a bit. What you said is so true when playing Pirates. You can learn the computer's patterns so well in the first few runs that you can be able to beat them every time. However, there is that chance that they may do something different, but it's kind of slim.
MrGenie 06-20-2005, 06:20 PM Interesting theory, but I think you're just improving. :) There are so many ways to incrementally improve in this game, that over time you're bound to do better. The game does seem smoother without music in the background and you can concentrate better on the fireworks sound effects, but the tradeoff is that I really like the music. I played all day yesterday with the music off (thought it was a bug, but it turns out my sound settings were just messed up!).
I had a weird experience yesterday while playing Fireworks. You know how every once in a while you just have a horrible round (relatively to what you normally score...I realize everyone is at a different level)? It's like you got behind where you wanted to be, and then you try extra hard to hit the fireworks late and end up missing more, and then the game lags, and...it just all goes downhill. Well, in addition to a few of these rounds, I had the awesome experience yesterday of being in the fireworks "zone". Ever had that? It was like I was using the Force or something: "Flawless...Flawless...Flawless...". Funny thing was, I was really calm about the whole thing (just call me the Fireworks Zen Master); perhaps that is what made the difference. A nice contrast to how nervous I usually get when playing with someone really good who is trying to help me get the magic pin.
I'll leave you with this parting shot: you know you've been playing too long when you have memorized the type/color of firework that begins all fifteen rounds and switch to that symbol before the round starts. :D

I've noticed the Pirates will go after health sometimes now.
I think all the games are being fine tuned every few days.
It is possible that the sensitivity of the fireworks or the time span to hit them has been changed. I am scoring much better now also. Of course VMK in general seems to be loading faster and playing better, so that may factor in as well.
And of course practice and memory come into play. :)
MrGenie 06-20-2005, 06:44 PM Since this is apparently the "crazy" theory thread and the discussion has momentarily shifted from Fireworks to Pirates, I didn't want to miss the opportunity to bring up my favorite conspiracy theory to date (http://www.vmkforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=462) (post #27).
Thanks for the tip, GBShorts! ;)
On a related note, wouldn't it be fun if they let the Cast Members dress up like animals for the Jungle Cruise game and pop out at will? Or maybe they already do (I swear I saw a toucan the other day that looked a little like VMK_Mocha)...
dizneydesi 06-25-2005, 10:00 AM your "crazy" theory is interesting. maybe that is how one day i was doing 19,000 in jungle cruise and the very next day got to 30,000! getting better or coinkydink? fine tuning or fine motor skills? you be the judge. ;) :D :)
