Yep your wrong. you must do something in your game (like in animal crossing,you must find your house,walk out,do the things nook says and go to the town gate and talk to the person who is on the right then ask for a friend code) and you have to have as wireless internet router (i have a d-link 524 c1) or you can buy a nintendo usb port wi-fi adapter for $35
