A quick and easy guide to help you know all about scammers!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What is a Scammer?
A scammer is someone who will do anything for anything. Scammers lie, cheat, and attempt to get into other peoples accountes for furniture, clothing, pins, and even try to keep your account. Scammers are also able to get room codes such as Animal Kingdom Safari Room, High School Musical Room, Explorer's Tent Room, and Space Mountain Room. They trick people out of the codes on sites such as this, through private messaging. Scammers can get almost anything. They are dedicated to what they do, and won't stop at any cost.
Who is a Scammer?
Scammers can be anyone. They can be your best friend or your worst enemy. You can't tell by just looking at someone. Even if you try to spy on them, you can't usually tell. Scammers can dress different, act different, and they even have multiple accounts, called Mules. Scammers use Mules to scam people, because they don't care if that account gets banned, for they can just go right on to their main account and count up all the rare he/she just got. Sometimes, scammers obuse their Infernos or Stitch Hats to trick people. Mules can be very effective to the way scammers scam.
How do Scammers Scam?
Scammers have over 20 ways to scam. You need to know them to avoid them. Some of the most popular scams are:
1.No, it's not a _____ it's _____!! Scam
This scam is one of the most effective scams in VMK. Scammers put in something as simple as an NPC Pin. They state that the NPC Pin is something ultra rare such as Green Flips, and it appears as if it is an NPC Pin because of a "Bug." Fill in the blanks. No, it's not an NPC Pin, it's Green Flips !!
2.After the Trade Scam
This scam is as effective as the scam above. The Scammer may be trading Inferno, Stitch Hat, Green Flips, ect. and says that he/she will give the item(s) after you give he/she your items. After that, the scammer will run off with all of your hard earned items.
3.Borrowing Items Scam
This is the most effective scam I have ever seen. It is probably the most simple as well. The scammer askes to borrow something, and states that he/she will give the items right back. Usually, Scammers get their way and manage to "borrow" the item, and then runs off with it.
4.Let me Add more Items Scam
While this scam isn't as common as the ones listed above, it still works on people. The scammer will put an item down, someone will offer, and then the scammer says that he/she will out more items down "to make it fair." As he/she is putting items down, he/she will quickly remove the origional item, and then click accept. You are left with junk, and the Scammer gets your item(s).
How do I avoid these people?
You can't avoid them. They are everywhere, and you can't stop them. Scammers will not stop. Never. They always find a way. What you can do, though, is follow one rule. In VMK_Eagle's Question and Answers Room, he stated, "If it seems to good to be true, it usually is." This does not apply to all cases, but usually most. That very rule has gotten me out of some very akward situations. Use it well.
What do I do if someone is trying to scam me?
If someone is trying to scam you, get a piece of paper and write his/her name down. Report this peorson as soon as possible, and VMK Staff will look into it. Make sure that you tell VMK Staff exactly what happened, so this scammer will most likely be banned. Click on the user as if to view his/her signature, and press the "Report" Button, found on the bottom right.
Can I get rid of scammers?
You can't get rid of all of them, but you can get rid of some. If more and more people would just stop falling for scams, most scammers will stop scamming, because they know people won't fall for their scams. If every single person in VMK wouldn't fall for scams, we could all play VMK peacefully, with no scammers.
