Thought this might be a good thread to have.

What are some things that you wish people would do or wouldn't do when it comes to trading things, or just being in a room.

For me it's:

1. Please ask a person before clicking on the trade button.

2. Don't offer the pirate furniture you got with codes, the free clothes or the pins you get from visiting the NPC's (like Ned Pin, Yetti Pin, etc).

3. If you don't like the way a room looks, or how it is ran, then just leave. No reason to say the the room is boring, or anything. Why the need to be rude?

4. If you are standing in a line, and the person in front of you doesn't move when the line moves, give them a few minutes. Don't jump in front of them, or say "move" 20 times. Some people are on slow computers, or the door bell rang, or many other things could have happened. There is a line, waiting a few more minutes to move one space forward isn't going to get you to the begining any faster. Sometimes also, when someone clicks, their person may not respond. If someone is yelling at them to move, or trying to cut, it is just more frustrating to get your person to move.

5. If you ask someone a question, and they don't immediately respond. Wait a bit before asking them again. They might be in a trade, or away from the keyboard. Saying their name again and again is just annoying to the others.

6. Just because someone has mulitiples of the same pin on, does not mean they should trade it. They have that many because they want that many. It is their right.

7. Read the signatures. If they say inferno is Not for trade, don't follow them around begging them to trade it.

8. Don't beg for things. If someone says no in a trade, then they mean no. Saying Plz a bunch is not going to change their mine.

9. Don't ask or beg for free stuff. Just because you are new doesn't mean we should just give you things. We were all new once. I will give away free stuff sometimes, but never when I am asked, and never to someone I see asking for free stuff. Visit the NPC's, use the codes, and play the games. You will then have credits to buy things.

10. Have fun, play nice, and trade fair!

Does anyone have anything to add, or any comments on something I should change?

And as far as being new goes, and not having any neat stuff, give yourself time. I have never been on a quest, but I have been able to build up quite a collection of magic pins and quest items, all through trade. It will happen, just not "overnight".

MaliaMike, you are right on target with these ettiquete points. Of course, most of these ettiquete abuses come from 'Guest####' who may be too young to know or care. But if we veteran players respect others and expect it from newbies, they'll catch on fast.

I do however have a couple of playing habits I'd like to share:

1) I do not take Friends requests or trade with 'Guest####'. Play longer, get a name, come talk to me, and then I'll put you on my Friends list.

2) I like the Grand Exit! When I leave a room in which I have been chatting, I give my 'good-byes' and then either go to the exit or, if available use a teleporter. This helps with the 'show' of being a real person leaving the room. Once in the next room, away from my friends, I'll use the globe icon and pop into someplace else.

3) With the ease of getting a free room from the Kellogg's pirate game, make a place for your character to sleep. State in the room discription that you are afk and not to be disturbed. If you want to stay online, but will be away for a while (telephone call, dinner, homework), put your character in that room. Don't just zombie out in someone's room, taking up space.

Hope these hints might help someone in having a better game experience.

You get a pair of teleporters.

BTW, I like the etiquette suggestions. Maybe someone should open a "Ms Manner's School of VMK Etiquette" Room on VMK.

I'd like to add some for player games.

1 Don't stand in the door begging to be let in. I'm sure you will be let in when it is your turn.

2 When the game has to close, don't be mean to the game operator. No player can run a game all day and saying "I hat you" will not keep the game open longer
