View Full Version : To those CL who have been banned
Midtown 08-25-2005, 11:47 PM As a member of VMK forums, it's upsetting to see so much anger and disgrace flooded all of the boards, especially coming for Community Leaders. I know you guys are upset about being banned for what seems like no, or little reason. But as Community Leaders you guys need to take responsiblitly in your actions even if you said one little word that was replacing a filtered word. It's annoying how almost everyone is saying "This is rediculous blah blah," and suprisingly it's mostly CL doing so. Which ultimately puts me at a position to say "Are you guys really in this whole CL business to help out other players on VMK, or are you letting this go to your head and doing what ever you can do to get your "Badge" back." From the looks of it a majority of you CL are only in it for The Power, the badge, the popularity or what ever you guys get from this. I know first hand what it's like to be a leader not only online as a Silver badge hobba for the popular sulake created game "Habbo Hotel" (.com), and in real life as my school's ASB President. And this is definately something not worth suspecting when it comes to VMK. It's not only sad to see people claw over somethign as simple as a Position as a community leader. and for those of you CL that are complaining about this whole thing saying "OMG if i do one little thing i'll get baned and lose my CL position for EVER" Maybe you shouldn't even be one at all.
Please post your thoughts, i'd love to hear everyone's views.
Becky 08-25-2005, 11:50 PM You have a great point there, Midtown, although- I'm in it just to help people, that's all.
I'll write stuff from my perspective soon enough.
Minay 08-25-2005, 11:51 PM I feel really sorry for supergirl and disneyrockz who both lost their coveted CL title.

Definately, and don't get me wrong, i'm not at all talking about ALL Community Leaders ;)
Pebble 08-25-2005, 11:53 PM I wanted my badge back because when mine was away some people accused me of impersonating a CL. X_x

No way. That is so wrong. VMK won't let you have a CL_ in front of your name unless you are a CL. Wait, somebody try that out.

Becky 08-26-2005, 12:04 AM As I said before, you have a valid point there, so let me add onto it in how I see it:
You're right, I'm not at all mad at anyone for doing it, but some people are getting jealous because they aren't a CL(obviously, that means they don't want it to help others, just for the title and badge).
It stinks that, even the younger people on VMK Fan Site can't be mature enough(and even the older ones) for that matter. It's great we have so many community leaders a part of this site, though!
Many of the leaders of this site are not in it for the fame. I won't point fingers, but it seems like some leaders part of this site are taking everything to their heads, and only wanted community leader for the title and badge.
If you only wanted it for the title and badge, I have one word to say: quit. Just resign if that's why you applied for community leader, only for the title and badge. As the saying goes, "being a community leader is a privilege, not a right".
It's true, it's a privilege for anyone to be a community leader in this ever-growing fantastic Disney game. Despite things some people dislike that people have made of the game, it's so great for anyone to be a CL in this game. It means that adults chose you, they thought you could be a fantastic leader, and accepted you.
For those that aren't community leaders who are always going into CL congrats threads and getting all worked up since they aren't a leader.. clearly leads us to believe that they only want community leader for the title, badge, and fame. If you're impatient because you haven't gotten an e-mail back if you were accepted or not, it just gets to the point where you make others think you clearly aren't out for the job.
Community leader, as I said before, is just a privilege. You get no free stuff, just the title, badge, and the opportunity to help others. The title and badge are only to show others that you know VMK "like the back of your hand", and that's why you were accepted.
If you were rejected, you may well know VMK "like the back of your hand", but you may just need to help others more frequently. Do remember, even if you are a great, nice individual, and help others, not everyone can be accepted as a community leader.
In conclusion, I dislike how others are jealous of CL's and stuff.

Not really off topic, i expressed my opinion as did you, i agree 100%
BriarLori 08-26-2005, 12:18 AM I'm not a community leader, and after reading about the bans and status
revocations, I'm glad I'm just a "player".
What made me sad was reading about a really good CL getting banned
while answering a guest question. I stress this because while
it was technically wrong for him to use numbers with the help of the
dictionary, there really wasn't a way he could have answered the question
otherwise.
Talk about your Catch-22 situations! Meanwhile, it makes me ill to read
that known trade scammers are being seen online, rather than banned.
alice 08-26-2005, 03:43 AM I'm not a community leader, and after reading about the bans and status revocations, I'm glad I'm just a "player".I have to echo this sentiment. While I am happy to help players whenever I can, I have not been inclined to apply for CL myself. (This is mainly because I can barely walk and chew gum at the same time, not to mention trying to keep track of multiple things going on at the same time in VMK! I know the CL in front of my name would only add to the challenge. ;) ) I do have to wonder if it is worth all the stress. Guess I'll just be happy to do what I always do!
I am concerned for all the players, though, not just CLs, when it comes to the interpretation and administration of VMK's rules. I have to wonder why warnings are not being issued first when it comes to some of these innocently intended "alternative words". That would make so much sense, in my opinion.
One thing that is easy to forget is that VMK staff are normal, everyday human beings. They do not think and act as one unit; they have to make countless decisions on their own, every single day, and they are each bound to interpret situations a little differently. I think we need to be realistic about this; VMK is not always going to be consistantly fair or perfect. But good communication between players and staff can only help, so let's see what we can do with our feedback!
