View Full Version : Unfair Booting in Guest Rooms
MsBehave 06-19-2005, 06:50 PM Just now, i was at Malificents Singing Party, by DragonGirl. When it was my turn to sing a song, i started to sing the Bologna Song (Oscar Mayer). Just when i was getting to "My bologna has a second name", i got a pop up that said i was booted from the room by its owner. I would understand if i was doing something wrong, but i was not. if the owner of the room disliked me, the owner could have told me to leave, and i would have left. I was wondering, since i got booted, does that mean i could not become a Community Leader?
-Ms.Behave
Naw, that doesn't disqualify you from being a Community leader. Also, people go on power trips sometimes. Oh well! Ya just got to keep your head high and never let those people get you down.
PS: Your signature is HUGE! Do you mind if you could shorten it?
MsBehave 06-19-2005, 07:22 PM Ok! Thanks! (i will try to shorten it as much as i can)

KrazyChik 06-19-2005, 08:31 PM UH...just because you get booted from a person's room...That has NOTHING to do with being a Community Leader :) Lol you are fine! You cannot worry about others that kick you out of their room that is their own personal prefereence of who they want in their room :)
Maleficent2 06-19-2005, 10:50 PM old heave ho or be better than them and welcome them to your room and let them know you hope they have a good time while they are visiting it....personally I think booting people out of rooms is a rude childish act and if you were not doing something that is agaisnt VMK rules is immature at best and only shows what type person the room owner is at the very least hints to their age and maturity. And you just have to remind youself that alot of the players are tweens or act like them....
Let me say that not all tweens are rude and immature and not all adults are mature.....
sorry this happened to you.

Bezoar 06-19-2005, 10:51 PM I think the grander question is, just what in the world did the owner of the room have against O-S-C-A-R, anyway? ;)
DBFan 06-19-2005, 11:31 PM I hate when people wont let you in a room for no reason. There was a room to talk about the magic in the game but they wouldn't let me in. So I created my own room to talk about magic pins. I decided to take there room idea and let anyone come it. It was actually more popular than I expected it to be.
Chele 06-19-2005, 11:32 PM lol. Isn't this the funniest yet most bizarre thing? I can see if someone is being rude or immature; but come one. I've had friends call me into a room, only to get booted (by a complete stranger) as soon as I appear in the door.
UltraByte 06-19-2005, 11:40 PM That's nothing compared to Habbo Hotel. So many people on there boot just because they don't want anyone in their rooms.

It's a type of game that Disney probably got their idea from. Tons of people waste their money everyday just to get "Credits", that's what it's imfamous for.

Oh goodness, Habbo Hotel has the worst community I've ever seen. For the short time that I played, I met maybe one or two mature people, and was harassed by everyone else. Besides getting booted from rooms for no reason, I also had to deal with evangelists! There's nothing like having your conversation interrupted by someone shouting "Save yourself! Repent, repent!"

O_o I'm glad I left too. All my friend wanted to do was "trade for furni" or "do her stupid race thingy".
Indychick 06-20-2005, 01:07 AM I have not been booted yet, but I do have to say that some people are booted for no reason at all! One of my friends from on here was recently booted from a room I was in. He had not even done anything, they were just not letting people in that they did not know. I too do not think this is fair, and I told them so. I think you should only boot people if they are causing problems. I also find it an immature act! Honestly, I doubt I could ever boot anyone. I would feel bad! But I am too nice so......... Don't worry be happy if you come to my room, you will NOT get the boot! (Unless VMK staff does it!)
SallySally 06-20-2005, 02:49 AM I got booted from a room once. The room owner opened the turnstile to let in new contestants, and I guess too many people walked through the turnstile. Why couldn't he just ask people to go back until it was their turn? How rude.
No worries, though. I'll just never go play in his room again. ;)

MrGenie 06-24-2005, 10:26 AM I had an idea for enhancing the "booting" process today. I've had to boot a few people from my guest rooms...usually for just going AFK (Away From Keyboard) for an extended period of time and blocking an entrance, but occasionally because someone is being rude or ignoring repeated instructions/warnings. Since there are different reasons for booting people from a room, I thought it would be nice if you could let them know why they were booted. Perhaps when you click on "boot" and confirm your decision, another box would pop up and you could choose from a few different options that describe why you booted the person.
For example, if you were in my room and blocking the entrance so nobody else could get in, I might ask you to move a few times. If you still didn't respond, I would assume that you were working on something else and boot you so that other people could still get in. However, it would be nice if I could let you know that I didn't think you were being rude or anything, but just that you were AFK. On the other hand, if someone is being rude, it might be good to let them know why you booted them so maybe they will improve their behavior.
Of course, just as people can abuse the "boot" button and remove people for no good reason, the explanations could be abused as well. Still, this would make me feel better about when I need to boot people and hopefully clear up some misunderstandings.
I submitted this comment to the VMK home page yesterday; they probably won't add it, but we'll see!

I can think of several reasons:
It means opening the turnstile again, which may let yet another person in.
You may not have room to exit, in the astoundingly rare case that people actually moved up in the line.
The extra people can, themselves, be very rude. I've tried asking people to step out, and they started yelling at me. I've seen people not care that there was a game in progress and just want to sit in the game area and chat.
Trying to type messages is slow and cumbersome and slows things down for the rest of the players. Yes, I can do it, but if I'm trying to get a game going the other players want to play already.
I agree that I wish there was something better I could do than boot them, but thats the best that I have for now. I've tried to rig my games up to reduce the chance of this happening - but it still happens occasionally.

I no her she is like my friend on VMK. I don't no why she would do that. she is always so sweet. I can explain her actions but i can say i am sorry that happened.
Mickey_Dude 06-24-2005, 10:32 PM I agree I was once booted from a room for no reason it makes me upset and then i feel like i did something wrong :(

Well, I ran into another reason
I'm expecting some game players to return to the room shortly, and need to make sure they can.
Along these lines, I wish there was a way that I could find out (easily) how close I was to the limit.

maybe they will, like, let us be able to pick up people in our rooms. that way is someone is blocking the door, we can move them and we can still be nice and not boot them.

prisoner 06-26-2005, 04:25 PM I got booted once right when I entered the room. The owner must of really hated me...
I have, regretably, done this several times recently.
In my case, it was because I run a multi-room race, and if I don't boot people out my racers can't return. So I sometimes have to boot several people who have probably been waiting on the queue to get in.
I wish I didn't have to, but I don't know what choice I have. I have no other way to manage how many people are in my room, and I have absolutely no way of knowing how many people are waiting to get in.
someone on this forum. im not gonna name names. booted me as soon as i walked in and said " cheese "
MonicaMonica 10-25-2005, 01:09 AM behave the person who booted you was jealous because you were awesome
fantasylion 11-13-2005, 05:05 AM You know what.. i was sitting in a chair and the owner is doing something having to do nothing with the chair. I raced 5 or 6 other ppl bacause it was high. Well the owner turned around and said " Bye bye little girl! ". man i got so mad.
PowerGirl 11-13-2005, 12:59 PM Once upon a time I was in my friend's cafe, there was only three people their, My friend, a customer, and me.
My problem is basically the same as yours CL_MsBehave.
I started to sing "Skater Boi" by Avril Lavigne, I got to the first chorus, then my FRIEND booted me.
It's not TOO bad when you get booted by someone you hardly know, but it's twice as worse when your FRIEND does it to you!!!:(

SteelersYOYO 11-13-2005, 01:07 PM Ok you guys this is a really old thread if u haven't noticed.....
JayTee5 11-13-2005, 01:12 PM Hey don't worry about I get booted atleast twice a day although i'm not a CL. but just b/c your a CL dosen't mean you can't be booted like the rest of us.
Off topic i wonder if anyone has ever booted staff??
Ranch 11-13-2005, 01:40 PM Ok you guys this is a really old thread if u haven't noticed.....
So? This isn't bread dude.
I've become pretty bad with my lovely boot button. In the early days I'd be like, "Guest click the cup (teleport).. Click the cup!! Click all around the cup!!" Till finally boot. And I'm not much of a trader but rather a gaming host, so any trade requests are normally followed by a boot. I mean, who goes into a ride, race, or basic gaming room and thinks, "Hmm I bet there's good deals in there"!
And then there's the nasty language. I almost have a script of what phrases will win you a boot, such as:
"shut up"
"You're ugly"
"this is boring"
"Come to SPAM"
and pretty much any other abuse of the dictionary and Values that I see.
--------------------------------------------
here's one from the other side of the boot heel.
I was told by friends about a ride some people built, and I came to find most of it's builders were on my friends list. So I went to go see and hoped to learn a new trick or two in building and I was able to make it to the front of the line within the start room. As soon as I reached the teleporter, I got the boot. I didn't need an explanation, nor want one, but when I went to another of the ride's builders who in turn rested within my list as well... yup, I got the boot again. No ride for me. :( Or friends LOL..
Alphafairy 11-13-2005, 03:14 PM I only boot people for being rude and obnoxious and if I asked them to leave and they don't. There are times when I am getting off and I want my room empty so it doesn't stay open so after warning I start booting.
PrincessWall 11-13-2005, 03:21 PM Well, at times people boot not on purpose, and sometimes ON purpose.I dont take it personal when im boot from a room.
