View Full Version : Disneyland Paris! Acoustic 07-19-2006, 04:44 PM YAY! In October my brass band are playing in Disneyland Paris. I'm so excited yay! :stitch2: keytopper 07-19-2006, 04:47 PM 0_o i have to wait till next Summer to go to Disneland Paris 0_o Scottish Guitar Hero 07-19-2006, 05:08 PM I get to go in November at the start of the Chritmas celebrations. It would have been cool to see you band play though :) Guitar NightRain 07-20-2006, 01:18 PM Disneyland Paris is a really cool park... I just went there last week while I was in Europe. Be sure to ride Phantom Manor, Space Mountain, and Big Thunder Mountain for me. :) Juneau 08-05-2006, 08:34 PM Wow you'll be there right in their Halloween celebrations, if they run like all other Disney parks. And if you ask me, Paris has a stunning Halloween. If you haven't seen it before, DLP's Halloween Decor is just amazing, and their own creations The Pumpkin Men, and the Pink Witches, are great. If you get the time get into the park as EARLY as you can...be there before gates are due to open, and run to Phantom Manor. It is the best thing you can ever wish to see before it opens. I've seen it with the gates locked, and it looks so spooky, it makes Haunted Mansion look like an old folks home. Enjoy though. =) DLP rocks, in a great kinda way. jamiewe 08-05-2006, 08:50 PM ive been there many times im over the big pond i will try to post some pictures of disneyland paris the pictures are from a book i got at disneyland paris. Pinkdust 08-05-2006, 08:51 PM oooo You're so luckee! :D I want to go to Paris reeeally bad.... I even have "French lesson of the day" on my UP. I'm obsessed. :p shadowari 08-09-2006, 06:00 AM I;ve been to DLP once. And here are a couple of tips... 1: If your a thrill seeker, RUN TO SPACE MOUNTAIN FIRST THING! It is the best space mountain and also the line fills up quick (three hours wait for stand-by line, one hour waits for fast-past by the peak of the day). 2: Make sure to check the opening and closing of attactions during the day. My famildy missed the natilus waltthrough because we didn't check the closing time... 3: Pirates of the carribean has not been changed so no jack sparrow or barbossa. But Still go on it! It is the best pirates in all the parks (beween DLP,WDW and DLR).Plus they take a picture of you on the ride. 4: Phantom Manor. Best one ever. Kind of like the corpse bride... 5: Do not waste your time on star wars. IT is the same exact ride as in all the other parks, only the audio is in french. Bon voyage! fun4life 08-09-2006, 09:07 AM 3: Pirates of the carribean has not been changed so no jack sparrow or barbossa. But Still go on it! It is the best pirates in all the parks (beween DLP,WDW and DLR).Plus they take a picture of you on the ride. That's right, but we have in Paris a actor who looks just like Jack... he walks around near POTC. 4: Phantom Manor. Best one ever. Kind of like the corpse bride...Good to know is that Phantom Manor is the Paris version of Haunted Mansion ;) stitch mad 08-09-2006, 01:23 PM I have a tip...If you like Big Thunder Mountain, go to it first! It has one of the biggest queues ever! Also be prepared for it to break down because every year I have been it has broken down at some point of me waiting to get onto it. I dunno if its me or that it breaks down alot. Also, Pizza Planet is never open even though it says it is on the map. Im not sure why but everytime we go it is closed :( Another ride to queue up for first is the new Buzz ride "Buzz Lightyear Laser Blast" When we got there the queue was quite short and we got on quite fast...when we got off, the queue was full! So i suggest you head for that ride early too. Sorry Im going on now lol... If you're into cute stuff, then go to see Animagique! Its in the Studios park. It is really cute and has songs from different movies. Some of it is in English and some is in French. If you're into watching parades, then try and find a place to sit/stand quite early because it is much harder to take pictures of the floats if you're standing at the back. You will see people starting to sit on the curb not long before it starts anyway. When the fireworks start, I suggest you stand to watch them near the Entrance/Exit as it is not that easy to get out if you stand nearer the castle. I hope that helped!! Juneau 08-09-2006, 02:59 PM I;ve been to DLP once. And here are a couple of tips... 2: Make sure to check the opening and closing of attactions during the day. Ok, I've only been twice but here's some things: With the Nautilus, you're not missing anything spectacular. Sure, it's nice to be in there on a hot day, but other than that there are so few pulling points with it, I skipped it on my last trip. The Parisian Pirates is the best, since it's based on the Disneyland one. No single drop, all the way round hop out at the bottom malarkey. Two drops, if I remember right, and I don't think you had to get off "underground". Phantom Manor, I don't know how many times I can say this, but it is a spectacular ride. The stairway at the back of the load area is the best thing to look at. It seems like it's really intricate and goes up and up, but it's just a board propped up at a certain angle. The storyline is great, the music is spectacular, and the animatronics are kinda creepy. A breif warning, cover up the eyes of easily scared children just as you pass the phantom and you begin to tilt backwards. I won't spoil and say why...but it's either that, or possible nightmares. As much as I love Manor, and find the theming, the placement and everything to be perfect, I can't live down the failure to use Vincent Price as the narrator. It's all in French, but Madame Leota slips between English and French so it's kinda confusing... Here's my own tips: 1. If you go during the Halloween celebrations, the main park is usually open before opening time. I managed to get in at around 8:50, and stood outside Phantom Manor waiting for it to open... 1a. Don't run from the Pumpkin Men or Pink Witches, they will sign autograph books...even though they are a wee bit creepy and like making you scream. 2. When heading to the studios, if you don't have much planned, make a big deal out of the character meets at the front gate. You can walk in and only see one or two, but if you look around there's usually a large gathering. My little bro managed to get Chip and Dale both together, and a few others too. 3. If you MUST do Peter Pan, be at the gates early. If they open them early, then you can be among the first in line. 4. Big Thunder here is a MUST. Take WDW's Big Thunder and speed it up, and it becomes a great thrill ride. 5. Parades. The best place in MK for the Parade view is just outside the gate to Fronteirland, on the curve at the hub, or down Main Street. 6. Space Mountain. I've seen loads of people ask this around the place, but yes Space Mountain Paris does contain a loop. And you do around 3G on the launch... 7. Avoid the railroad in tomorrowland. It has one of the worst queue systems in the park if you ask me. When I did queue there, it took 3 trains to go from near the platform on the curve, to actually getting on the train. 8. When staying "on property" don't waste your time with the coaches. It's only a 5minute walk to the park, and that's from the Hotel Cheyenne...which seems a way out. 9. No matter how good you think you are, or how bad it could possibly be, or if you've seen it before....make sure to book in for Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show. Some of the nicest food on property there, and a show too! 10. When staying "on property", if you plan on early night's every night, put at least one night as a "late night" so you can experience your hotel entertainment. I'm sure all hotels put on something, but since I always stay in the Cheyenne I have only that to go by. and finally 11. BE UP EARLY for breakfast "on property". Queues can grow, and it's quite hard finding a chair... think Continental Breakfast though: Croissants and such. Rather filling before a day in the park. [notably the prices here seem lower than WDW, so an in-park lunch is a good plan as well as an "on-property" supper. So, 11 tips...some which crossover and such, but still... Enjoy any trips to Paris you may have. I had a plan to work there once, but since my french is poor and on the first day you are asked to say your job name whilst standing on the stairs at Phantom Manor... I could do it though...an intermediate level in Spanish [not quite fluent not quite bad], near fluent welsh, and fluent english... =/ I still have some years yet before I plan on anything like that...but since Paris is closer than WDW it looks more promising... [wow, I wander a lot in topics...] acetid-bit 10-15-2006, 01:34 PM i'm going to dlp in augest this summer and was wondering if and where you can get micky ear's and hands and stuff like that there...also i'm going there to performe with my showchoir!!!Woot And also can you get vmk codes for buying stuff at the shops there??? thanks! BlueJalepeno 10-24-2006, 09:58 PM Cool I speak a little french, too bad they don't have VMK there. Chaelle 10-24-2006, 11:57 PM Cool I speak a little french, too bad they don't have VMK there. POTC is absolutely amazing - there are two drops, and if I remember correctly, the second drop isn't where you'd expect. The Phantom Manor, which is the DLRP version of the Haunted Mansion, is much scarier than the DLR and WDW versions (I can't comment on TDL's Haunted Mansion as I've never been there). Also, as an interesting bit of trivia, the Phantom Manor house is based upon the same Edward Hopper painting that inspired the Bates house in Psycho. Big Thunder is a good ride, but I thought it was pretty much the same ride experience as DLR and WDW, just a different track formation. The DLRP Indiana Jones ride is a single-looping roller coaster, and while it's a bit jerky, it's worth checking out. I've heard that the track was copied for TDL's Raging Spirits, which opened a few years ago. I definitely would NOT recommend missing Space Mountain Mission 2 - IMO, that is not only the best Space Mountain I've been on, but an amazing roller coaster as well. If you're looking for a good place to eat, two restaurants stand out: The Blue Lagoon in POTC for a nice, sit-down restaurant (it's the equivalent of DLR's Blue Bayou, but IMO, the food is much better) and Inventions in the Disneyland Hotel for character dining. However, I think that most (all?) of the hotels can be booked to include a complimentary continental breakfast. I'm not entirely sure, but it's something to look into. And I definitely wouldn't bother with hotel-to-resort transportation if you're staying on property - everything is within very reasonable walking distance. Language wasn't an issue for me because I'm nearly fluent in French (and being in France, I just spoke to everyone in French), but I've been told that everyone who works for DLRP must be fluent in English and French, so if you don't speak French, it shouldn't be a problem (at least, not while you're on Disney property). Oh, and JeannieV, I'm almost positive the new ad with David Beckham as Prince Philip is part of the promotion for Disney's Year of a Million Dreams. Disney has hired Annie Liebovitz (a photographer) to photograph celebrities as Disney characters for part of its new ad campaign. BanannaSplitzer 03-13-2007, 10:40 PM Space Mountain Mission 2 And Phantom Manor Have a pretty Good Theme to Those Rides/Attractions Chirpin 03-13-2007, 11:41 PM another little tip is if you arent that fluent in french spanish may work there to. since france is close to spain spanish may work there to we were able to navigate through paris using spanish. i went to disneyland paris with our band back in december it was an amazing experience . we did groups it was three parents and for kids. the adults nearly cried bye seeing how happy we were.i honestly have never smiled so big.we only got on 2 rides space mountain mission 2 and small world Space Mountain (as stated above) AMAZING i loved it so much .fyi they take your picture at the beggining.and the plantets are all holagrams so i looks real. smalll world a must do for us we have just had to see what france thinks of the USA in the ride(we were disappointed to see no marching band people) we were going to get on phantom manor but it was that or shopping we chose shopping Anotehr Cool thing is No Churros are there They have Huge Waffles instead |
