View Full Version : Best restaurants at Walt Disney World
Neoteny 07-18-2006, 05:49 PM My favorites are 'Ohana (where no one gets left behind), Whispering Canyon (Could I get some ketchup over here, please?), and Mitsukoshi (though it depends on which chef you get).
What are your favorite Walt Disney World restaurants?
BonoGirl 07-18-2006, 05:56 PM Here are a few of my favorites:
Epcot - Canada - Le Cellier
Boardwalk - Flying Fish, ESPN Club (Great Nachos)
MGM - Prime Time Cafe, Brown Derby
TikiRoom 07-18-2006, 06:01 PM Definatley, in MGM, definatley Hollywood & Vine. Yummy!! I don't know any others.
Adventurebry 07-18-2006, 06:04 PM In EPCOT, I like the Electric Umbrella. YUMM!
Schmoofy 07-18-2006, 06:04 PM My favorite are...
Boma at DAKL - You really can't beat an all-you-can-eat buffet, with food from Africa and other countries
Cape May Cafe at Beach Club - All you can eat, seafood buffet :D
Tony's at MK - Best. Pizza. Ever.
There's probably more that I can't think of right now..
prisoner 07-18-2006, 06:04 PM I was wondering when this thread would come up. So many many choices.
Victoria and Alberts is probably my favorite, but definately a treat for very special occasions.
Le Cellier and 50's Prime Time Cafe are my favorite sit-downs (this week)
And every time I think about counter service, I come up with more... Pecos Bills, Morocco, and Japan all lept to mind initially.
Boma and Cape May Cafe probably my top buffets.
Neoteny 07-18-2006, 06:05 PM Here are a few of my favorites:
Epcot - Canada - Le Cellier
Boardwalk - Flying Fish, ESPN Club (Great Nachos)
MGM - Prime Time Cafe, Brown Derby
I love the look and the concept of the Prime Time Cafe, but I just didn't care much for the food there.
My family had a great time at the character breakfast at the Cape May. There were seventeen of us there for a family reunion, and we were celebrating five birthdays! Goofy came and sat with us for awhile, and the kids loved it! We also had visits from Minnie Mouse, Chip, and Dale.
chorustwo 07-18-2006, 06:09 PM I like:
Ohana, Electric Umbrella, and in EPCOT I like the chinese restaurant (their wong-tongs(sp.) and great!) I also like the restaurant in the Disney's Fort Wilderness Campground(forgot title) and finally the place in Main Street with the baseball stuff (gotta love hotdogs).
AwesomeCute 07-18-2006, 06:10 PM My favorites are Ohana (where no one gets left behind), Whispering Canyon (Could I get some ketchup over here, please?), and Mitsukoshi (though it depends on which chef you get).
What are your favorite Walt Disney World restaurants?
I love all three of those restaurants! Whispering Canyon is probably my favorite :). I also like Le Cellier, it's a Canadian restuarant and their food is amaing!
chorustwo 07-18-2006, 06:11 PM I didn't Like Prime Time Cafe their food wasn't the greatest in the whole park.
PrincessWall 07-18-2006, 06:14 PM Oh my!!! In October I'm leaving for WDW on the Dining plan!!! For ten beatiful days :) We're going to La Sallie twice, and Liberty Tree Tavern, and the Supercalafragilistic Breakfast as well at 1900 Park Fare. I am absolutly obsessed with food at WDW. My favorite is La Sallie
P.S: If you ever go to La Sallie, get the vanilla crembrule, its TO DIE FOR
And the cream cheese mashed potatos... They're out of this world.
Neoteny 07-18-2006, 06:16 PM My wife and I celebrated our anniversary at Tony's, the Lady and the Tramp-themed Italian restaurant in the Magic Kingdom. It was great! They knew in advance that it was our anniversary, because we'd told them when we made the reservations, and when we got there, our table was decorated with streamers and confetti. We ordered the spaghetti and meatballs (of course), and the cast members made me push a meatball over to my wife with my nose! It was so much fun!
BonoGirl 07-18-2006, 06:25 PM Le Cellier and 50's Prime Time Cafe are my favorite sit-downs (this week)
LOL! You sound like me (this week) - Prime Time is a favorite - because the kids love it - food is heh! - have to be in the mood. I forgot Hollywood and Vine - how could I forget that - I think they are changing something there soon too. (Have to check.)
I really would like to try France (either restaurant) - but cannot get people to agree to me - let me know your thoughts if you have ever been there.
Tony's in MK - I have not been there in awhile - had a really bad service, maybe we will give it another try. That is classic - having to push your meatball with you nose. How cute!
Tink's Fireworks 07-18-2006, 06:27 PM I like the one at Coranado Springs resort, Chef Mickeys and the pastries shop in France (EPCOT!)!
F0REVERL0ST 07-18-2006, 06:28 PM Le Cellier in Canada at Epcot! Best Steak in the world! :D
iliketodancelikewhoa 07-18-2006, 06:30 PM I Love this steak house at beach club oh i forgot the name but it was so good
Neoteny 07-18-2006, 06:31 PM See, this thread is one of the reasons I like Walt Disney World so much more than the Disneyland Resort. I mean, try coming up with this many good restaurants at Disneyland!
Don't get me wrong: I love Disneyland. But Walt Disney World is just plain better.
PrincessWall 07-18-2006, 06:31 PM iliketodance, thats the Concourse Steakhouse, I believe. :)
The_Bennu_Bird 07-18-2006, 06:41 PM I can't believe nobody mentioned The Earl Of Sandwich it's in Downtown but I would go there every day if I could. Second favorite is Primetime Cafe, love my home cooking. If you are staying a value resort find out what night they serve the turkey dinner it's Thanksgiving all year Yummers!!!
Neoteny 07-18-2006, 06:44 PM I can't believe nobody mentioned The Earl Of Sandwich it's in Downtown but I would go there every day if I could. Second favorite is Primetime Cafe, love my home cooking. If you are staying a value resort find out what night they serve the turkey dinner it's Thanksgiving all year Yummers!!!I love the Earl of Sandwich! Every time I go there, though, it's so crowded! The line sometimes goes all the way through to the next store!
I LOVED Jiko's and the Aloha Dinner Show....romantic and fun...
disruler 07-18-2006, 07:17 PM Ohana's at the Polynesian
Whispering Canyon at Wilderness Lodge
Cinderell's Royal Table at the Magic Kingdom
:CastMem:
prisoner 07-18-2006, 07:28 PM I Love this steak house at beach club oh i forgot the name but it was so good
I think you're talking about the Yachtsman's, which is actually at the Yacht Club, but close enough.
Interesting that so many people didn't like PrimeTime. Wonder if the cooking has gone downhill since I was last there.
I really would like to try France (either restaurant) - but cannot get people to agree to me - let me know your thoughts if you have ever been there.
I wasn't a big fan of Chefs de France the two times we ate there. It wasn't bad, but wasn't as good as I was expecting. And while the desserts were pretty good, they weren't any better than at the Boardwalk Bakery, for example.
See, this thread is one of the reasons I like Walt Disney World so much more than the Disneyland Resort. I mean, try coming up with this many good restaurants at Disneyland!
Well, Disneyland is just a fraction of the size... its hardly a fair comparison... (and not one we should go into here...)
Adventurebry 07-18-2006, 07:32 PM There is the great buffet-type place in the world showcase in EPCOT. Sadly, I forgot the name =(. The lighting is dim and the stye is rustic.
prisoner 07-18-2006, 07:34 PM There is the great buffet-type place in the world showcase in EPCOT. Sadly, I forgot the name =(. The lighting is dim and the stye is rustic.
I think you're thinking Germany or Norway.
Foustketeer 07-18-2006, 07:35 PM The Japanese place in Japan is good. The Ice Cream Shop type place at the Yacht and Beach Resort is good too (try the banana split!) Rainforest Cafe of course is good. Sci-Fi Dine In and 50's Diner are both good (located at Disney Studios.)
PrincessKala 07-18-2006, 07:37 PM Okay My Fave is: Prime Time Cafe at MGM! It wasn't THAT Good But Everyone had a great Time and The Waitresses were FUNNY! TIP:Don't hide your Greens Under your Chicken! You'll Get yelled at by the Waitress! lol I got yelled at..He he..
Also another Great Place Is Cinderella's Royal Table at Magic Kingdom! The Place is INSIDE The Castle and You get to take Pictures with Princess and Eat with them too! It's Great for those Little Princesses at Heart! And During your Dinner they do a Little "Wishing Ceremony!" It's so cute! And The Food is DELECIOUS! Even the desert Is!
Dizznygrl 07-18-2006, 07:42 PM Oh, wow! How to choose!
First of all, Tony's Town Square in the Magic Kingdom. Come on, you gotta love it. We went there for my birthday last year and got Star Treatment.
I'll have to agree with the others on 50s Prime Time Cafe. The theme is Fun! The food is so-so. The prices are outrageous for what you get. Even for Disney. I'll still go there, though. Just so Mom can tell me to get my elbows off the table.
You just can't beat the Whispering Canyon Cafe for breakfast. I ate there this past Saturday, and I got to lead the Hokey Pokey!! What fun!
And of course, my girlfriend's husband had to ask for ketchup. He didn't even want it! He just wanted to have the fun.
Wow, Epcot has SO many choices. I haven't had a bad meal there. Ever. But I will say this...when I go for the Food and **** Festival in October, you can just hand me a vat of the **** Cheese Soup in Canada and pass the ladle!
This is fun!
Adventurebry 07-18-2006, 07:42 PM I think you're thinking Germany or Norway.
Thats it! It is in norway. I rerember going on the norway ride, then watching the movie after. Thanks. I still don't know what it is called though..

;)
But I love asking for ketchup at the Whispering Canyon!
greenhpper 07-18-2006, 08:09 PM MMmm, I'm getting hungry reading this thread. Let's see, we have only begun our culinary adventures at WDW but so far:

DizCaptain 07-19-2006, 01:54 PM At Whispering Canyon they over exceed your wishes. Ask for ketchup you will get a waiter's tray full of ketchup and then I accidently once broke 5 of those bottles because they fell off the tabel so guess what five mreo come in. Also my sister once asked for salt and they brought her a big bowl of it.

It's hillarious what they do... If I told you it would spoil it lol. You don't want to steal anything from other tables either! Whispering Canyon also does the hokie pokie, my brother got to lead it while we were there. All the restuarants at Disney are so interactive ^_^
I also like the Plaza restaurant on Main Street. We normally go there after watching Wishes, their milk shakes are really good!
CiscoRau 07-19-2006, 04:25 PM Ohana is the best! Love this place. Also love 50's Prime Time, Cinderella's Royal Table, Yakitori House (Japan in EPCOT), the Patisserie (France in EPCOT), and San Angel Inn (Mexico in EPCOT).
No one's mentioned the dinner shows yet! You MUST do the Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Review. It's great!
mnwildguy84 07-19-2006, 04:30 PM i was about to mention hoop-dee-doo!! the all you can eat chicken is the best!! also olivias at old key west is pretty darn good! my grandma is notorious for bringing her american girl doll with her and our server gave the doll a high chair and a kids glass of water!! lol it was pretty funny!!
Supernova08 07-19-2006, 04:31 PM My favorite place to eat would have to be Alfredo's in the Italy Pavillion at EPCOT, great pasta.
Another great place is the Coral Reef Restaurant over at The Living Seas, great food and a great view of the aquarium. :)
CarribbeanLady 07-19-2006, 04:31 PM EPCOT-Le Cellier,OH THE MORROCO TAKE OUT PLACE IS THE BEST!Electric umbrella

The other dinner shows..
The Luau - The food is quite decent, as the same with the show. I really enjoyed this place.
Mickey's Backyard BBQ - Worst. Show. Ever. It's a buffet, in some kind of "keeps-the-bugs-out-but-doesnt-work" kind of contraption. The show up at the front got kind of annoying after the first 30 minutes. I ended up sitting atop a rock overlooking old River Country with a plate of mac'n'cheese the rest of the show. Really not worth the money at all, go to Tony's instead :D
Cakee 07-19-2006, 11:22 PM for good hot dogs dont forget caseys corner in the mk!!
Muahaha, Casey's Corner rules.
Other than that, I like the Sci-Fi and the Chinese and Japanese restaurants at EPCOT. Woo, I love those little shops.
Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe perhaps? :)
MickeyForMayor 07-20-2006, 04:03 PM the liberty tavern is awesome! with like homecooked meals and very LARGE plates of food what more could you ask for? he he
Tinklover 07-20-2006, 04:07 PM 1.Bomas
2.Ohana
3.The place at Fort Wilderness with the best breakfest buffet
NaviMap 07-20-2006, 04:12 PM The sandwich I had at the Morrocco Pavillion was great.
I'm usually not a fan of buffets but I found the Illuminations International buffet I had the Odyssey was excellent, plus a dessert buffet at the seating area.
It seems every chance I passed by the France Pavillion, I always stopped by the pastry shop for that strawberry mousse dessert.
50s Diner, food was ok, but I was really hoping the waiter would spoon feed the veggies to my cousin.
Le Cellier in Canada, located in Epcot. -Best Stake Ever!
The Electric Umbrella, also located in Epcot. -All around good food.
Jimothy 07-21-2006, 12:35 AM My favorite would have to be The California Grill atop the Contemprary. There is a neat observation deck where you can see Wishes at night and there are huge windows. You can even hear the Wishes soundtrack. And the food is great!
SurfingGirl 07-21-2006, 01:57 AM My favorites
Wilderness Lodge- Whispering Canyon (very loud lol)
Contempary -Chef Mickeys has very nice themeing
Wilderness Lodge - Artist Point great food
My personal favorites are:
Plaza Restaurant on Main Street
Boma at Animal Kingdom Lodge
The Brown Derby at MGM Studios
Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe in Tomorrowland
-skippyskippy
gone_batty 07-22-2006, 01:37 AM I really like the Morrocan restaurant; I go there every time I go to Epcot. And the dancers there are really top-notch (and I should know, I teach bellydance!) :D
So this Norweigan place is good? My husband and I avoided it since we're both Norweigan and both hate Norweigan food! Maybe we'll give it a chance.
Batty :)
Neoteny 07-22-2006, 03:23 AM So this Norweigan place is good? My husband and I avoided it since we're both Norweigan and both hate Norweigan food! Maybe we'll give it a chance.
Batty :)I don't know about the "food," but the Norwegian pastries are fantastic!
SleepyPiglet 07-22-2006, 03:33 AM My favorites are:
Jiko The Cooking Place (In Animal Kingdom Lodge, great spring rolls XD)
Boma-Flavors of Africa (In Animal Kingdom Lodge, the BEST Mac and Cheese :))
Crystal Palace (In Magic Kingdom, yum breakfast pizza :D )
Citricos (In Grand Flordian, just good food ^-^)
Le Cellier (In Canada [Epcot], really good steak O_o)
San Angel Inn (In Mexico [Epcot], the best quesadillas EVER!!!)
Poseidon 07-22-2006, 03:41 AM Magic Kingdom - Casey's (Best hot dog I've ever had.)
Epcot - Le Cellier (Oh man. Just great food.)
Electric Umbrella (Was actually very good, for a fast serving restauraunt)
MGM - 50's Prime Time Dine-In (AWESOME desserts.)
AK - Flame Tree BBQ (BEST sauce anywhere.)
Resorts - ESPN Club (The BEST wings anywhere.)
Oranges 07-22-2006, 12:24 PM Well, I have "quick bite" favorites from all parks, but I also have "special dining" favorites from all the parks.
Magic Kingdom:
Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe (great food at a great price)
Liberty Tree Tavern (amazing food, amazing ambience, but the price is a little too high)
Disney/MGM Studios:
Sunset Strip Cafe (good food, low price, excellent views of Tower of Terror, lol. :D)
The Brown Derby (amazing food, a little overpriced, but still fantastic)
Disney's Animal Kingdom:
The Tusker House Restaurant (great food, great atmosphere)
Rainforest Cafe (good food, but a little overpriced)
Epcot:
De San Angel Cantina (GREAT Mexican food, great price, great views)
Biergarten (you have to like German food to appreciate this one)
Le Chefs de France (you have to like French food to appreciate this one)
Teppanyaki Dining Room (amazing food, great "show")
~Oranges
Funster 07-22-2006, 12:26 PM Liberty Tree Tavern
Rainforest Cafe
De San Angel Cantina
CiscoRau 07-23-2006, 06:32 PM The entertainment is very funny there, but the food wasn't so great during our visit.
I've actually done this one at least 3 times and the show is always funny but the food can be hit-or-miss. Sorry you got one of the "miss" nights.
The Luau - The food is quite decent, as the same with the show. I really enjoyed this place.
I've done this one too. My opinion was that the show was good but the food was sub-par for the price. I'd take the Hoop-Dee over the Luau any day. But of course, that's just IMHO.
Out of curiosity - does anyone remember the "Top of the World Dinner Show" that was at the Contemporary? My family did that one about 15 years ago and it's since diappeared. Don't remember it too well.
wendygirl 07-23-2006, 07:18 PM my favorite places are 50's prime time cafe
and the italian resturant at italy in epcot is ok:wave2: :minniemo:
disnyfreek 07-23-2006, 07:18 PM Mickey's Backyard BBQ - Worst. Show.
I disagree with that! Goofy's Country Dancin' Jamboree was the worst show ever! Mickey's Backyard BBQ is the second worst show ever. It's a waste of time and money. My family and I actually have a nickname for it- "Mickey's Country Chaos" lol... And btw, BonoGirl, they already changed Hollywood and Vine for Breakfast and Lunch. Now June and Leo from Little Einsteins are there, as well as Jojo and Goliath from Jojo's Circus.. I was there on the first day it was open with my sister lol.. REALLY good for the little kids..and not overwhelming for older kids and adults..Anyway...I LOVE DISNEY RESTAURANTS! Here are just a few of my favorites:
California Grill (Contemporary Resort)- best sushi you will ever have. Great for groups, with a view of all of WDW and beyond from the rooftop of the 15-floor Contemporary. Awesome fireworks location out on the observation deck.
Ohana (Polynesian Resort)- This used to be my favorite restaurant before they stopped serving the Tiger Shrimp :angry8: . Nonetheless, great food.
L' Originale Alfredo di Roma (Epcot; Italy Pavilion) - The best and original Fettucine Alfredo.
Liberty Tree Tavern (Magic Kingdom; Liberty Square)- The characters are great, and the food is the traditional Thanksgiving meal, and an incredible Thanksgiving meal at that. Just a little too loud, but depending on the room you get seated in, the restaurant itself is great too.
Crystal Palace (Magic Kingdom; At the end of Main Street)- The only place you can see Pooh characters, and a really good buffet for both breakfast and lunch/dinner.
Cape May Cafe (Beach Club)- Characters are there at breakfast, and they are the best characters in WDW in my opinion. One time when my sister was a baby Chip just kept coming back to our table to play with my sister (who was a baby at the time)! And for dinner, a clambake! Don't find those too often! The mussels are spectacular :D
50's Prime Time Cafe (MGM)- Depending on the server that you get, this can be a dinner show in itself. Mom says no elbows on the table! No dessert until you finish your vegetables! If you break mom's rules then you'll have to sit in the corner! lol.. plus, its good eatin'! How many restaurants do you know serve meatloaf and pot roast anymore?
Boma-Flavors of Africa (Animal Kingdom Lodge)- Sitting down in a calming hotel with a theme related to the tiring, hot Animal Kingdom that you were just in is a joy in itself. All the food though! It's so unique! You haven't tasted anything like it! You really feel like you are getting the "Flavors of Africa".
There are a billion more.. like Mama Melrose's at MGM, Whispering Canyon Cafe and Artist Point at the Wilderness Lodge, and Les Chefs de France and Le Cellier at Epcot, and I haven't even touched the counter service meals, or Hoop-Dee-Doo, but I dont want to clutter up the forums TOO much ;)
Cmkrebs 08-09-2006, 08:34 PM nine dragons in epcot is expensive
Neoteny 08-09-2006, 08:45 PM nine dragons in epcot is expensive
It's Walt Disney World. Everything's expensive.
But it's worth it. :)
casey's is really good and the cheapest the best place to go for a hamburger though is pecobill's
Little Green Man 08-09-2006, 08:58 PM The entertainment is very funny there, but the food wasn't so great during our visit.
I agree with schmoofy though i do ask if falling off a chair has anything to do with not liking the hoop-dee-doo??
THe backyard bbq is set up more as a picnic than a show and you have to participate to have a good time best part is that it backs up to the old river country where you can sit on rocks and see a legend of the past
good times indeed schmoofy
Chaelle 08-09-2006, 09:06 PM I like the Crystal Palace at Magic Kingdom, the food if very good, but the only thing I don't like about it is the characters. It's not like I have anything against Pooh, it's just that whenever they come to my table to say hi I almost choke on my food to say hello :D
~Chaelle
CurlySlim 08-09-2006, 11:45 PM I like about any place but Canada and here is why: Once we went to eat there and, us all being a bunch of vegetarians, wanted to know what veggies they had there. So we looked at the menu and the was NOTHING that didn'g have meat in it. But on the kids' menu there were some veggies so we decided we would all order off the kids menu(lol). But when we asked they wouldn't let us!! So we all ended up eating grapes and bread. But anywho, I like Cinderella's Royal Table for the way it looks. But disney doesn't really have any good food. Their veggie burgers are really bad but now that I think about it I don't really like any food.
vitamin 08-09-2006, 11:58 PM I LOVE the coral reef restaurant and their unbelievable orange mousse dessert!!!!!!

Loweyan 08-10-2006, 04:53 PM My Personal Favorites are alot of the ones outside the parks
Ohana - at the Polynesian
Ohana's is on the top floor of the main building of the poly, and it offers a set menu for the meal. But includes three or so appitizers (including fire cracker shrimp, A teryaki style buffalo wing, and fried tortillas. Followed by a salad, and then the main course, which is all you can eat of excellent turkey, pork, beef, and pork sausage (and lots of side dishes like potatoes and vegis). Finished off by an excellent banana foster with ice cream. And every dish is all you can eat! Plus as an addition you have a great view of the magic kingdom fireworks and they even pipe the sound feed from the parks into the restaurant! (which was great during the Mickey's Very Merry X-Mas, you got to see the special fireworks without the extra cost of the admission)
Boma - At animal Kingdom
An Buffet of international flare, featuring the tastes of Africa. While the menu changes from day to day, they always have some amazing dishes. The soups are very different but amazing. (If they have the carrot ginger soup - it's delish) The signature dessert is evil - plain evil. ZEBRA Domes! Imagine a white chocolate ravioli with chocolate mousse inside. but that's not all, the mousse is fortified with espresso and Kaluah! Trust me on this, 2 of them and any normal adult will be bouncing off the walls.
Plus if you go on sunday nights, that's when the cooks get to try out new dishes! (They also have an amazing breakfast buffet with jungle juice that is to die for)
and Whispering Canyon - at the wilderness Lodge
This western affair features a great "trail lunch" with all you can eat chicken, pork sausage, BBQ beef, cornbread, taters, corn, and beans. But there are also good single serving meals for the not so voracious. There is also the all-you-can-drink milkshake. But beware, after 2-3 small glasses of milkshake you are ready to kill any cows you see. But the true draw of this restaurant is the atmosphere. The waiters and waitresses have a great time, teasing, gnawing, and making fun of everyone. Be careful if you ever ask for ketchup, and make sure you know what color the hand soap is after you go to the bathroom.
I hope any travellers enjoy these fine establishments on their trips to WDW!
Take care and happy feasting,
Loweyan

Easy, I don't care for food. And they don't have much for us vegetarians. But like I said, I don't care about eating anyway. Eating was just made to keep you alive, not for fun! I never eat desset because it is not good for you.
pepperthedog 08-11-2006, 02:32 AM I love 50's Prime time cafe. The theme is awesome, and their fried chicken is delicious.
Sci Fi dine in has a great theme, even though the food is basic.
Crystal Palace, great Birthday dinner spot. The characters are awesome, and the food is pretty good.
Olivias at Old Key West- Best Kids Menu. Who cares how old you are? I still order off it!
Tonys- Best spagetti ever, plus it's lady & the tramp!!
AdventureGirlGo 08-11-2006, 03:22 AM WOOT WOOT finally somebody other than me likes the sci fi dine in and i deff lover tony's!!!!!!!

Neoteny 08-11-2006, 02:14 PM I disagree with most of you on the best restauraunts in WDW. So here are a list of my favorites:
California Grill
Victoria Alberts
Epcot: Best: Rose and crown pub Wost: Mitsukushi (food is gross)
Now hold it right there....
I don't know what you might have tried at Mitsukoshi that you consider gross, but that is one of our favorite restaurants in all of Walt Disney World! The show is a lot of fun, and the food is fantastic!
Cmkrebs 08-11-2006, 02:28 PM cheif mickeys has good breakfast pizza
GreatGatsby 08-15-2006, 04:16 PM Now hold it right there....
I don't know what you might have tried at Mitsukoshi that you consider gross, but that is one of our favorite restaurants in all of Walt Disney World! The show is a lot of fun, and the food is fantastic!Yeah, I was wondering about the gross comment, too. The one commonly known as Mitsukoshi (the Teppanyaki place) is like any Bennihana, and what's gross about food cooked on a grill in plain sight I have no idea.
Unless he's discussing the Mitsukoshi restaurant known as Tempura Kiku. Tempura is not for everyone, and I admit the tempura beef was a bit odd (being more used to seafood and chicken served this way).
But the Teppanyaki restaurant? Nah . . . not gross at all.
(BTW I liked Ohana when it was Polynesian. I've heard it changed to Brazillian and Southeast Asian flavors, so I'm not so sure I'd be happy with it.)
I don't have a real favorite, and I've tried all but maybe five restaurants, not counting Downtown Disney.
I like Olivia's Cafe for breakfast, mostly for sentimental reasons. I was fond of Chefs de France, but it does not seem as good anymore. I liked Akershus before they went princess. The Biergarten is always fun, as is Marrakesh and Wispering Canyon Cafe. Garden Grill has great chicken. Liberty Tree Tavern is a nice place, especially for lunch. Tony's Town Square is very nice. Jiko and Boma are fantastic in their own different ways. Concourse Steakhouse has the best burgers in all WDW. Victoria and Albert's is extraordinary, but a one-time only thing. Cirtricos has the best chicken soup I have ever tasted in my life.
Probably the only places I did not like the food were Bongo's (surprising that the owners are Cuban, yet it's the worst Cuban food I've ever had) and the Sci-FI Drive-In Theater. And then there's the Electric Umbrella .... eeeesh.
But in my book: the tip of the top, the cream of the crop, is the WDW Turkey Legs, and there I stop. A must have at least once during a Disney World trip in the Gatsby family.
Neoteny 08-15-2006, 04:27 PM Yeah, I was wondering about the gross comment, too. The one commonly known as Mitsukoshi (the Teppanyaki place) is like any Bennihana, and what's gross about food cooked on a grill in plain sight I have no idea.

But the Teppanyaki restaurant? Nah . . . not gross at all.
We like it better than Benihana, because of the Disney touch. Our chef created a flaming Mickey out of onion slices and played the Mickey Mouse Club March "Stomp"-like with her utensils. It was a lot of fun.
And the food was great!
vitamin 08-16-2006, 05:35 AM WOOT WOOT finally somebody other than me likes the sci fi dine in and i deff lover tony's!!!!!!!
Tony's is definitely great for the atmosphere, plus they cook a fabulous chicken! I'm just not overwhelmed by the other stuff...but you gotta go just for the experience! I remember getting some cinnamon ice cream there, too, mmmmm :D
granacci 08-16-2006, 05:50 AM My favorite restaurant at WDW is in Downtown Disney, and it is Fulton's Crab House.
Neoteny 08-16-2006, 01:13 PM My favorite restaurant at WDW is in Downtown Disney, and it is Fulton's Crab House.
Fulton's Crab House looks beautiful. We're just not into seafood, though, so we haven't tried it.
prisoner 08-16-2006, 01:33 PM My favorite restaurant at WDW is in Downtown Disney, and it is Fulton's Crab House.
Really? Last time we were there we were bitterly dissapointed, but I'll be pleased if they've improved. The wait was terrible, the service not up to Disney standards (when we were there they weren't Disney cast - not sure if thats changed), the ambiance unpleasant (loud, with bland theming), and the food mediocre. For seafood - the Cape May Cafe or The Living Seas are still our favorites.
Xucid 08-16-2006, 02:04 PM well i guess mine could chage since i am eating at some new places this time around. i guess when i come back on Tuesday i will tell you if my favorite restaurant has changes. i'm really excited for Chef Mickey's
Schmoofy 08-22-2006, 04:34 PM I agree with schmoofy though i do ask if falling off a chair has anything to do with not liking the hoop-dee-doo??
Yup, that about sums it up. We still have that Cowboy boot mug that they gave us, for whatever reason.
Silverstream 08-22-2006, 04:44 PM I have some favorites..
The restaurant in Canada at EPCOT, can't remember the name of it...
'Ohana(sp?)
Sci-Fi Dine In, you get good food and get to watch bits of old shows and stuff...
That's all I can think of today, I'm not thinking well today....
RubyRubia 08-22-2006, 09:42 PM Personally I love Casey's Corner. Food is cheap, and it's classic hot dogs. My favorite part about it is that you get to watch a talented pianist do his magic. :)
Ru Ru :mickeymo:
PaperClip 08-22-2006, 10:32 PM I like Primetime 50's cafe. The staff are HILARIOUS and it is just so much fun. The food is great. However, if you cannot afford the Primetime Cafe, try the restraunt next door. I can't remember it's name today. I am not thinking at all today. The restraunt next door is a buffet, if you prefer buffets.
Xucid 08-22-2006, 11:13 PM Primetime 50's Cafe was amazing. Uncle Pat made me laugh soo much and when one lady didnt eat her green beans the waitress brought them back with Whipped Cream on top of them!
I really really enjoyed Chef Mickey's too. The food was amazing and the atmosphere was soo cool. I really liked the place and highly suggest it.
Another good place was Donald's Breakfastasaurus in Animal Kingdom. Again it was a nice place and a very cool atmosphere. i really loved the staff very friendly and very cool place.
those were my 3 favorite places from my trip. and the nice part was that the meal plan was free! saved a ton of money and let us try out some places we wouldnt always get to try.
Schmoofy 08-28-2006, 06:57 PM Cape May Cafe (Beach Club)- Characters are there at breakfast, and they are the best characters in WDW in my opinion. One time when my sister was a baby Chip just kept coming back to our table to play with my sister (who was a baby at the time)! And for dinner, a clambake! Don't find those too often! The mussels are spectacular :D
Agreed, those buffets are the 2 best in the "World". I especially love the garlic and butter sauce they use on the clams, but those mussels are great! I'll continue my Boma commment with the next quote..
Boma is the only restaraunt that I enjoy, but the rest of my family doesn't. Our last two trips to WDW, we stayed at DAKL. It's great waking up to the awesome smell of the food in the morning, which is just from walking through the lobby alone. I really enjoyed the African spices and desserts they had layed out, very tasty :D. And yes, that jungle juice is awesome.
For seafood - the Cape May Cafe or The Living Seas are still our favorites.Fulton's never really pleased me, like you said - it's not Disney. Cape May is always great, and the Coral Reef has a great atmosphere, along with their food.
GreenGirlJess 08-31-2006, 09:34 PM Epcot- The German buffet place (the Biergarten)
MK- We usually don't eat in parks, but last time I had the Pinochhio? Pizza (I think..) and it was good!!
Poseidon 08-31-2006, 10:55 PM The Hotels:
ESPN Club - I love sports, and this place just totally fits my desires. I love the arcade, and awesome food (wings = yay).
Chef Mickey's - I always feel like a young kid again while still being older here. Surprisingly good food as well.
The Parks:
Magic Kingdom:
Casey's: Greatest. Hot dogs. EVAR.
Epcot:
Le Cellier: Great steaks and nice restauraunt
Electric Umbrella
MGM: 50's Prime Time Cafe
Animal Kingdom: Flame Tree BBQ
Chaelle 10-09-2006, 02:54 AM The Norway resaurant Wonderfull food-- but cold restaurant
The Crystal Palace but the food tends to get untasty after you keep going for a long time
The Garden Grill--EPCOT Not the best food, but I love how it rotates!
MGM: 50's Prime Time Cafe. Friendly service but LONG wait time. Unless you don;'t mind waiting and almost being Bar-B-Qued in the sun...
~Chaelle
Neoteny 10-09-2006, 03:13 AM You can avoid the long wait times by calling ahead for reservations.
Chaelle 10-10-2006, 02:40 PM We do but usually it's already filled up.
We wait for 20-40 minutes
~Chaelle
Neoteny 10-10-2006, 02:52 PM I mean call a week ahead, or more.
We called for our Blue Bayou reservations a month in advance.
Tetsiga 10-10-2006, 06:00 PM My favorites are 'Ohana (where no one gets left behind), Whispering Canyon (Could I get some ketchup over here, please?), and Mitsukoshi (though it depends on which chef you get).
What are your favorite Walt Disney World restaurants?
man, those are some great restraunts Ohana and Kona are both great places, and Whisterping Canyon, oh my gosh we'd been driving all day, we finally get to Wilderness and I was like dead tired, I was like "good some place nice and quiet", that really suprised me, but I had the best time, and we went back a second time man I love that place.
Wolfgang Puck is an amazing restraunt at Downtown Disney, Pumpkin Ravioli is delicious, vegetarian or not, just ask for the vegetarian version. either way its delicious, and the Squash Soup, I cannot however remember the name, but it is fantastic.
-Contemporary
Concourse Steakhouse was very good, lunch and dinner or maybe it was breakfast and dinner.. I'm not sure, but they're great and you can substitute in the chicken pasta sliced mushrooms.
Boma in Animal Kingdom Lodge is a great breakfast and dinner buffet.
Flying Fish however, they weren't so friendly there, and our waitress had a real bad attitude and they really seem to select eating areas by the clothes you wear.. and Bongos, their food had like, no taste.. oh! the rice however was the best seasoned rice I've ever had though.
MGM/Disney Studios
Has some great places like the Sci-Fi Dine In Theater you sit in an old.. I wanna say 50/60's car and you feel like you're at a drive in movie, but I'd say its great for kids, and from what I can remember the food was good(it was from one of my first to third trips)
The Brown Dirby a bit expensive but! has great food and the desserts are also great, I reccomend the vegan dessert, it may sound weird not having dairy products, but its great!
Hollywood and Vine, is a great cafeteria feel, but they don't just have your everyday foods, they had A&W Sweet potatoes, those things are amazing, I can't remember everything though, because we were in a hurry to get the the Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween party, it can be a good family restraunt. (as long as your kids don't run wild)
okay! I could honestly go on and tell you about every parks Restraunt, because I've eaten at all of them.. so from here I'll just pick out favorites(which is hard)
-Magic Kingdom
Cinderella's Royal Table
Tony's Town Square
Tomorrowland Terrace Noodle Station(not restraunt but great when open)
Liberty Tree Tavern
-Epcot
The Garden Grill, like Ohana they bring out a giant plate for your table to share off of, I gotta say their vegetarian family dish is amazing..
Nine Dragons Restraunt, although they got rid of the golden tofu(fried tofu with some delicious sauce) all their other food is fantastic!
and I'm going to have to reccomend all the countries, I thought they were all great.
-Animal Kingdom
Rainforest Cafe is good, you get to dine with animals, and every 10-15? minutes you have a rain storm! (you will not get wet on this attraction:h-tongue: )
and of course all their quick service are great.
and I must, must! reccomend Expedition Everest, even though its not a restraunt that ride is awesome..
that pretty much ends my list, however I'm sure I missed some, and I know I missed good resorts, but I just honestly can't remember all the names.
abbycatkid 11-19-2006, 12:36 PM Definately in MGM and in vmk, Sci-fi Dine-in!
Neoteny 11-19-2006, 04:49 PM Definately in MGM and in vmk, Sci-fi Dine-in!
Except that the food in the VMK version isn't nearly as filling. And the movie's not as good, either.
Oranges 11-19-2006, 09:25 PM I think I should update my favorites:
I love the Crystal Palace at the Magic Kingdom for breakfast. Instead of having a birthday dinner, I have a birthday breakfast. :D
Pecos Bill's Tall Tale Inn and Cafe is delicious for counter service, as is the Columbia Harbour House. They have GREAT fish there. Ooh, and the Liberty Tree Tavern is lip-smacking, too. I love their mac 'n' cheese, and their potatoes, and their flank steak, and their ham, and their turkey, and their rolls, and their salad, and their... ok I'll stop now.
I love the San Angel Inn (and the Cantina) in Epcot. The Cantina has GREAT nachos, and the actual sit-in restaurant has delicious burritos, tacos, and enchiladas. I also love Chefs de France, seeing as they have some great escargote - it's not rubbery like you get from some places!
Now, Disney's Animal Kingdom probably doesn't have the best restaurants out of the parks, but I do enjoy going to the Tusker House. Their burgers and mashed potatoes are very tasty. The Flame Tree Barbeque isn't too bad either! I like their barbeque ribs.
My favorite place to eat at the Disney/MGM Studios would probably be the Hollywood and Vine, or the Brown Derby. They have great sandwiches, and the Brown Derby has a great caesar salad.
As for hotels, I love Ohana! at the Polynesian and Boma at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge. I can't get enough pork from Ohana!, and I thought it was great fun trying all those African dishes from Boma. It was, well, interesting, to say the least.
~Oranges
realnicekid 11-19-2006, 09:42 PM I like the Crystal palace and Chef Mickey`s the best.

BabyThePirate 11-20-2006, 11:47 AM The place across from tea-cups big meal for only cheap.
I think closest to the teacups would be Pinnocchio's Village Haus.
Order some of the Figaro Fries! Yummy!
Wildcat 11-20-2006, 11:49 AM My favorites overall in Disney are Fulton's in Dowtown Disney (Orlando) and Chef Mickey's (Contemporary Resort).
The Best ones for me(foodwise not atmosphere) is Cosmic Ray's(did u see their topping bar?!) and
Restaurant Marrakesh(their meat is so awesome and it's fun to watch them make your food)
and then of course any of their food stands to get the mickey dilly bars!(you're not a disney fan unless u have one of those! lol)

and then of course any of their food stands to get the mickey dilly bars!(you're not a disney fan unless u have one of those! lol)
I prefer the Mickey ice cream sandwiches....

MAgic Kingdom: um.. there is alot of places to get food that i lyke!!
BaldEagleBob 12-07-2006, 09:38 PM Except that the food in the VMK version isn't nearly as filling. And the movie's not as good, either.
Wouldn't be great if they would put clips of old scifi movies on the screen at the drive-in on VMK? There would be a crowd in there for sure. And they could actually do it with shockwave software. Are you listening, Yavn?
I LOVE the real Scifi Dine-In at MGM in WDW. It is the absolute coolest atmosphere to eat in. The food is just ok, but to go inside there on hot afternnoon blows your mind.
The 50's cafe is fun, but Scifi blows it away. And from my California days, the Blue Bayou is the best place to eat in Disneyland, bar none.
Neoteny 12-07-2006, 09:41 PM And from my California days, the Blue Bayou is the best place to eat in Disneyland, bar none.
Agreed. Although in Disneyland, you really don't have all that many options. Walt Disney World is so much better for food.
Maribeth 12-07-2006, 09:47 PM I like the Teppan Yaki Dining Room (don't know if think that's the real name) in Japan in Epcot.
I like the Prime Time too
and what was it like Mama Melrose's or something LOL! Italian place in MGM...

And at Walt Disney World in Orlando, I would have to say...... the fast-food place next to the Star Trader's Shop!
LadyVader 12-11-2006, 01:32 PM Yes, the place near Star Tours is the Backlot Express.
goofy_bout_mickey 12-11-2006, 10:00 PM My favorites are not actually restaurants, but food I must have when I am at WDW.
At Epcot, I love the rice cream at the Norway Pavillion. I get it as much as I can when I am there.
At the Magic Kingdom, I discovered pretzels stuffed with sweet cream cheese. It didn't sound too good to me at first but when I tried them, WOW!
magicgirldude 12-12-2006, 02:00 AM My favorites were Le Cellier (Epcot), Earl of Sandwich and Wolf Gang Pucks Cafe (both Downtown Disney). I didn't like Bomas at all (AK). Ohanas (Poly) was fun, we saw the fireworks from the restaurant. Food was ok. Prime Time Cafe (MGM) was fun and the food was pretty good. Wispering Canyon was fun, food just ok. Free refills on milkshakes --- yeah :)

WisePrncessSophie 01-07-2007, 05:28 PM Earl of Sandwich $ is our favorite choice at Downtown Disney. We have run into Cast Members eating there, and we love talking to them about their Disney experiences! It's a real Disney favorite.
My other favorites in WDW, which I think I've posted before, are:
Mama Melrose's Italian Restaurant at MGM $$
Whispering Canyon at the WIlderness Lodge $-$$
Flame Tree Barbeque at Animal Kingdom $
Any Princess/Character Dining (Lunch or Dinner)! $$-$$$ but so worth it!
California Grill at the Contemporary Resort $$$
Epcot during the International Food and Drink Festival! $
Bon Appetit!

stormystar 01-07-2007, 05:30 PM Oh I love Earl of Sandwich (downtown) and I really loved Le Cellier (Epcot Canada).
InfernoWanter 01-07-2007, 05:43 PM I LOVE the Pinnochio Cafe thing in Fantasyland. It's not too expensive either. My family loves it there too and it's really nothing fancy. Get the Fiegro Fries, it's fries, cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato, and mayo. It rocks! My sister and I always split it
-Chocolate :)
