As you all know soon in Disneyland you have seen it! a pixar's Finding Nemo themed sumbarne ride! This Ride is going to use the same/closely related track as its companion. Here's how the story goes:

When Matt Ouimet became the president of Disneyland Resort, many noticed new activity in the lagoon, the former home of Submarine Voyage. Neptune, one of the eight submarines in the fleet, was moored in the old Submarine Voyage station for inspection by Walt Disney Imagineering in 2004. Rumors spread quickly over the Internet about an attraction based on the Disney/Pixar animated film Finding Nemo.
On July 15, 2005, two days before the official 50th Anniversary of Disneyland, Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage was officially announced at the new Turtle Talk with Crush attraction at Disney's California Adventure by Walt Disney Parks and Resorts president Jay Rasulo. The submarines had closed years earlier with an announcement that an Atlantis ride would be built. Unlike the Sumbarine Voyage, This will not have just fish on strings (O.o) but it would have the characters of finding nemo brought to life in the water. So thus it is rumored that in '07 the Finding NEmo Sumbarine Voyage will open

If you have any new info or want to comment please post it here

Hmm. I was THERE on the days before the 50th and the banners around the lagoon already had Nemo stuff on them.

I heard that the submarines will be specially designed to project the show so it looks like the fish are outside each window, and the only real objects will be sets. Some sort of new technology (probably like what they use for Autopia pre-shows).

uh......suure. I didn't want to say anything about how the fish were projected so i cut that out..

Yeah I have an annual pass to disneyland And i always see that Thing that blocks around the area so you can't see it, It has nemo on it and all Characters from Nemo.

Here's a hint to see it ,kind of, ;) :
Go on Autotopia and Look down when you pass it, You might Have to Lift up But You Can KINDA See it.

Yeah I heard That Once in the Sumberine ride there Were LIVE Mermaids In It.But I don't know if it's true though.

There were mermaids, but it was dangerous for them to swim out to the rocks the used to sunbathe on (chemicals damaging their hair in the water, colliding with submarines/track/show pieces).

Anyways, I'm iffy on this attraction. The Submarine Voyage (and 20K) both had a special quality, even though everything looked fake. I'm not sure Nemo can duplicate that quality (plus, do we really need another Pixar ride?).

Well, I must admit, 3D special effects sounds a lot better than fish on strings. xD But then again, I never went there. And if I did, I don't remember a thing of it.

But, even if I did remember it, and remembered enjoying it, no use ranting about how they tore it down to make room for a pixar ride. They were going to take it down and replace it anyway, and the pixar thing just came along later. Really, I think this is a great idea. It'll be a lot of fun for the little kids, looking out the window and seeing Finding Nemo characters. Really, I was never keen on the idea of a pixar film being turned into a ride, but Finding Nemo is different. I always thought that the digitally animated coral in the movie was beautiful, and I've always liked water stuff. I don't really consider this a pixar ride, it's just an underwater ride with pixar characters in it.

I have no problem with the Pixar rides. Let's face it, most of the non-Pixar Disney releases lately have not been very good.

Wouldn't you rather see an attraction based on Cars than one based on Valiant or Home on the Range?

I like the new Pixar attractions based on Monsters, Inc. and Finding Nemo.

xD WDW is packed already. Most of those who want more in WDW have probably seen everything there is to see there. Well, to some people, it's unfair that those others get to go there so often. So be thankful for being able to spend time in parks. :)

And Neoteny, I agree. I would like very much for there to be a Home on the Range show, just for the yodeling. xD

Actually, Atlantis wouldn't be so bad if they based it off the animated movie. It'd be cool to see those flying fish things. ^^

Those things would be cool, just the movie itself was not the greatest and Nemo is more appealing to an all-around family, where as Atlantis was more teen/tweens and up type movie.

The original plan was to base it off Atlantis, and I wish they did. It seems a lot fresher than another Nemo ride. And I thought Atlantis was a pretty good movie... not the best, but still a very well-done film.

You anti-Pixar people need to think about what you're saying.

As I said, most of the non-Pixar Disney releases lately have not been very good.

That's a good idea, but where? There isn't much room left at Disneyland or DCA. They'd have to remove a ride to take place of another one.

With the submarines, it was either redo it completely with a new theme, hence Nemo, or try to recreate the classic, but with newer technology. I think people going to the parks nowadays would be more familiar with Nemo than with the classic Submarine Voyage. I would rather see the latter happen more than the former, but who knows with Disney nowadays. Plus this could be a project started under the old management and not the newer one.

Keep in mind, that many of the Disney attractions are based on movies. I.E. Splash Mountain, Buzz Lightyear Astroblasters, Star Tours, and many other classics. Don't forget the rides have also inspired some good movies too. I think it would be cool to see a Space Mountain movie, eh? It was a good idea financially to cancel the Atlantis idea, as it wasn't as successful as they hoped. Also, by draining the lagoon the Matterhorn sunk in a little and caused damage to the ride. They had to fix that first before they could re-do the Submarine Voyage. Finding Nemo is a great name to connect with this classic ride. Disney's going to make a fortune. But I agree, they should have left the old one. Hopefully we wont be dissapointed.

When I was at Disneyland a few months ago, I found a spot in the Autopia store where one could peek in and see the empty lagoon and also a few subs! Check this out!:

what DID they do with the ETR in WDW? srry i'm not the most "active" in disney...

The show begins as it always has, but partway into the first song, the birds are interrupted by the appearance of Iago (the bird from Aladdin), who tells them that people today don't want to see the same old show they've been doing for the past forty years and that they need to get with the times and update their act. Then Zazu (the bird from The Lion King) shows up and argues with Iago for awhile, and eventually the birds stop singing the old Enchanted Tiki Room songs and sing more recent pop songs instead.

It's actually a fun variation and a nice surprise if you've seen the original a bazillion times, but the original show is more fun, not as harsh (Iago's voice is just so irritating!), and just plain nicer!

The original show still exists at Disneyland, but Walt Disney World only has the new version. I prefer the original. The new version is fun once, but then you'll want to go back to the original.
