View Full Version : NES EMULATOR (Mods remove if inapproiate-Its a Super Mario game. So it is ok I think)
nintendo123 07-15-2006, 03:27 AM I got a NES Emulator-
Here, I will tell you what they are.
NES Emulators are programs with emulate (Simulate, make) a 8 bit-12 bit enviroment to play games in. Old games like super mario, for instance, are compressed by hooking up some cables to your old NES, then compressed, and imported into the emulator, herby making a enviroment to play the said game in.

Playing Super Mario Brothers Three.
PLEASE be very careful when using emulators..make sure you follow the instructions correctly, or you will throw a monkey wrench into the wonderful compressed file.
NES Files are also shared on the internet, called ROMS, but be sure that you are not downloading anything illeagal.
Again mods, if you in anyway deem this not good to be shared, then feel free to remove it..I thought everyone would want to know tho :)

You get a hold on one of these NES EMULATORS.
I will post a link in my profile soon which includes these (My website)
Once you got the NES EMULATOR, you need to search for compressed .NES files or other things called ROMS.
You open them in this emululator and presto chango, there you have it.
nintendo123 07-15-2006, 02:01 PM I will post a flash tutorial shortly.

nintendo123 07-15-2006, 02:30 PM OF COURSE NO VIRUSES or Keyloggers, or spyware, or adware, or hijacks.
In fact, I would suggest to scan every single download you get from the internet of course :).
See the link in my profile for the tutorial on how to download.
.:Moomalademuffin:. 07-15-2006, 02:33 PM It doesn't show up.
nintendo123 07-15-2006, 02:37 PM Try again please. I changed the link now. If you are concerned, you will see me run the exact same file on my computer. (In a flash movie)
And no, I am not. The google thing was just a warning, never download anything from any website you dont trust. The reason I am doing this tutorial is for:
A) You know how to work the NES
B) To show you that the application is perfectly safe.
Also note that this NES Emulator is called FCE Ultra.
Thanks

nintendo123 07-15-2006, 03:02 PM As you can see in the tut, the username is nesem and the password is vmkforums.
This is so people just dont go downloading it from outside this website:CastMem:
SORRY BUT UNTIL I GET FURTHER CLERIFICATION THAT THIS PRACTICE IS LEGAL, THIS IS SUSPENDED.
cryptox45 07-15-2006, 03:04 PM emulators are not legal(sp?)
nintendo123 07-15-2006, 03:07 PM No, they are, as long as you dont sell the compressed NES files.
You must also make sure you dont say you made the game and such...I was reading all about them before I posted here.
Bottom line: DONT SELL THEM or SAY YOU MADE THE GAMES.
You can sell your own NES games though.
cryptox45 07-15-2006, 03:08 PM and i need to warn you the most rom sites gives viruses.
nintendo123 07-15-2006, 03:10 PM Is emulation really legal?
Yes it is. The case of SONY V. CONNECTIX found that unauthorized emulation is perfectly legal. It was the decision of the court that CONNECTIX had the right to emulate the SONY Playstation and that reverse engineering of the Playstation BIOS for such a cause fell under fair usage. As a result of this case CONNECTIX was allowed to release it's Virtual Gaming Station for the Mac OS.
Oh, and I get ROMS from a trusted place, so dont worry about it. That goes back to what I said before, be sure you dont download things from weird looking websites.
cryptox45 07-15-2006, 03:15 PM its not legal. because you download games and you dont pay for it. do you think this makes nintendo or sega happy? if you want to download their games do it with the Wii (next gen gamecube coming out soon) then you pay a few bucks for it and then its legal.
nintendo123 07-15-2006, 03:16 PM According to court, the destributation of sega files is LEGAL, as stated in the last post.
You are fighting a losing battle. So dont worry about it please.
Correct me if I am wrong crypotox?
EDIT: The copyright WILL expire in 5 years anyway.
cryptox45 07-15-2006, 03:19 PM its legal if you only keep a rom 1 day on youre computer and remove it after that. and now i am going back to my own life bye.
nintendo123 07-15-2006, 03:22 PM Everybody, dont let him scare you off: As stated in:
EDIT: In fact, I am going to right to NINTENDO first and ask them professionally if I can use this. until then, I removed all of the links
