The Runaway

The Runaway is about a girl who needs to live free. She thinks she's always alone at her old home. She thinks she's a misfit, and doesn't belong. She knows she can find a place to belong in, on her own. As she ventures out into the many worlds she's chosen to go to... Will she make it? Or not?

Chapter 1

I held out my backpack for Jessie to see. She was so stubborn. And, she actually thought I was joking when I said I was going to leave. I would have laughed in her face, if she didn't start crying.
Jessie. The little sister to disliked me, now wants me to stay. Mom must've put her up to this.

"Why are you leaving? Why can't you stay?" She asked, wearily. She and I slept in the same room. So, of course she heard me packing.

"I'm leaving because, I don't belong. You might belong, but I don't. Everyone has dreams of becoming an attorney, or a lawyer. My only dreams or to be what I think is right for me. And, everyone looks at me as if I'm just some type of mutant dog, that can't find its place in the world. Well, I'm determinded to find out who I am, and what I want to do. And, if that doesn't work out, I'll come straight back here, and beg and plead for Mom's forgiveness. Okay?" I said.

Jessie shook her head, and turned to face the wall. I could hear her muffled sniffles, but that wouldn't keep me here. Jessie told me herself, I would never fit in.

I grabbed my bag, and hoisted myself out of the window. I was wearing a jacket, and a hat. My bag had 1 pair of jeans, 1 pair of shorts, 2 shirts, 2 T-shirts and some food, and some water bottles.

I was grateful that I could leave, right then and there. I hated long goodbyes.

I jumped out of the window, and landed on my feet(It wasn't a long way down) and started to walk, holding my map in my hands.

The town wasn't pretty big, it was a decent town, but it was really small. It only took me a short while to find the train station.
"1 ticket to the city, please." I said, as I held out my money.
I was proud of myself. I had finally gotten this far without getting caught.

"Without your parents?" He asked.

I haden't thought about the answer to this one, "My parent's are already down there. I'm going alone, because my dad is going to pick me up there." I said.

He nodded, and punched the tickets, as he gave them to me.

I smiled, and sat down on a brown, oak bench, next to this man.
He had a hole-filled umbrella, and a big gray beard.
"What's a young girl like you, taking a train ride? You a runaway?"

I never thought of myself as a runaway, "Are you sure you won't tell. I- I- I'm not a runaway." I said. I wasn't ready to tell him my life story.

"Sure ya aren't." He said in a sarcastic voice, and turned to face the upcoming train.

He and I walked into the entranceway, as I found my seat next to a woman, dangeling her two babies.
I was sure to sit as faraway as possible.

I rested my head against the window, as I felt eyes on me.
I looked out to see a little boy waving, and mouthing something.
"Good Luck?" I thought.

I shook my head.
How would everybody know I was a runaway? I could just be visintg my long-lost grandma.
