View Full Version : Do you think infernos are less rare?

Dear VMKF,

I was wondering if you thought that Inferno magic was becoming less rare?

Reasons I feel that Inferno is less rare now are:

1. Staff games are getting easier to win and thus, more infernos are given out. A friend of mine traded his newly won inferno for a sparrow top, bottom, and boots (no hat). He said that he could always win another inferno from the staff because it was so "easy."

2. Because of the above, almost everyone seems to have at least one inferno magic pin on. I am becoming amazed at how many people actually have this "rare" magic pin. I looked around yesterday in VMK and almost everyone had one inferno pin! I used to think that it was so cool to have one inferno...now it's seems to be normal to have at least one of those cool pins.

Am I just worried that my rare magic inferno pin is now devalued? Yeah, kind of. But, I was hoping that the staff would keep the inferno pin rare.

Any thoughts. Be nice.

Peace!

Sildenafil

well i think if he is rare or not ppl still want a lot of good rare stuff for it.
So it doesnt matter if he is less or more.

You might want to consider the fact that many new people sign up every day, which evens it out a little bit considering more new people sign up in one day than Inferno is won. Besides, the demand certainly ensures it's keeping the value.

If its so "easy" to win, then why doesn't he have 8 or 9 and constantly trading them off? The stats for spin games is 1.3% chance of winning by matching the exact three numbers (>20 win per event). The chances of winning it during a staff quest, 1:~1,300 (~ depends on the # of players who play)

i dont think it is less rare. do you realize how many ppl dont have the Inferno?? half this forums probably doesnt have it (me included :( ) a lot of ppl have trouble even getting into the staff rooms.

Thank you for your responses! Great points! It makes me feel more at ease about the value of infernos. Thanks!

jeremyv, you bring up good points about infernos. Also, thanks for the stats. I had not looked at it that way. Do >20 ppl win infernos each time they have host games? Wow, that seems like a lot of people walking away with infernos per day. I need to try harder to get into those rooms! lol

Thanks!

oh hello. ive never had inferno before so i still think it is pretty rare. i asked some people around and they said that bat magic is almost as rare as inferno. i dont know about you, but bat magic isnt that rare as inferno. not worth a room full of items. inferno is still rare though.:)

If you're worried about your Inferno pin losing its value, trade it to me now! Quick! ;)

Yea i agree they are getting less rare but i have to disagree when you say almost everyone has inferno because that is definately not true. Even though they are being giving out at a large rate there are still less than a fourth of VMK that have it.

Neoteny,

you are very lucky to have all the pins but four! Good luck in getting them all!

Peace!

I still think Inferno is pretty rare, though..

Rare or not, Inferno is still as valuable as it has ever been. Oh sure everyone else I see walking around has one, two or eight, but I don't even have one. In the four months I have been playing the game I have only been able to make it into a Host room eight times. Eight times out of hundreds of attempt!!! This is just to get into the room. I'm not counting the slim percentages to win if I were to even get into the room. And I've only ever made it to a Quest or Hang Out Host room. I've never made it into a Game Host room. Those don't empty fast enough I guess.

So if 2-3 thousands of people are on VMK when 20 get inferno it still seems rare to me. I would expect more that 20 people a day sign up to VMK too.

</end rant>

Goofy "Bitter? Who me?" Bob :goofy:

P.S. Frankly I don't need the constant "Hey is your Inferno for Trade" attacks. I'm probably better off without it. Haha.

It's not even a matter of how rare it actually is. Many other items might in fact be rarer. It's a matter of demand. Very few items provoke the kinds of offers we see here for Inferno.

I don't have an Inferno pin, because I don't see the point of offering everything I have to get one. And then I'd probably still be outbid, anyway!

I want inferno but i'd rather get it playing a Host's game not trading.

more people sing up a day then inferno handed out simple economics means that with so many people joining vmk, then figuring out what magic is, and the fact that they can not have it, means that inferno will always be in demand, and highly saught after.

the last time host's gave inferno out to a game was atleast 2 weeks ago, make that 3 after this weekend because of the ride competition, thus, it reamins to increase in value.

Well think about it. There are at least two HOST games now that give inferno as prizes. So, the rarity of it is coming down.

Off-Topic: I missed Inferno by 1 number today! ARRR!

I agree when I went to Aqua Fire the other day almost everyone is front of me won! The Host games are getting easier and easier.

SimplePlanAddict

I think that inferno is becoming less rare because Hosts are hosting Aqua Fire a lot more now and Aqua Fire is a very easy game to play, that is at least what I think.

SuperInfernoBoy

So, does that mean it is neater to have more than one inferno? How about seven? Or how about some of the power players with like 16 - 24 each? WOW!

Well I am hoping that as more people join VMK they will not give out inferno for a while, inferno getting as rare as it was.

Even though I don't have one of these pins, it would be breaking tradition, and maybe unfair on some members who worked hard / traded lots of stuff to make inferno unrare, worth less, easy to get and/or very popular.

fantasyphillip
07-15-2006, 08:57 PM
well a lot of people have it but still fantasyphillip does not have it lol

Don't get me wrong, Inferno's still one of the coolest pins to own, but it's definitely dropping in value. Why just yesterday I traded my Inferno for a couple of brown crates. I know, I know.. I took advantage. But I couldn't help myself. I mean, brown crates! Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go place them in an empty room and stare longingly at them for a few hours.

You better not be serious... Brown crates...

Anyways. I definately think that Inferno has dropped in value. I have heard that every inferno gmae staff get at least 20 people who win. Over the game rooms it will get devalued. Also about the point that bunches of people join VMK a day. Probably over half are mules(Grrr mules...) and some may never play again. I have started many games for a day and not played them again.

So in my opinion the amount of people out of 100 that join and stay are about 10-20. So about

15
100

Play again another day.

Yes inferno is in high demand but if people started offering lower for it and everyone did then it would get devalued faster. But then more people would stop trading theres so inferno will always be one of those pins that is not to take forgranted even if it is virtual.

inferno is getting rarer!!! ppl keep combining it and staff give out at a slower rate than the fast rate of ppl combining.
