I don't like to speak in place of all those who work hard to bring VMK to us, but in most games like this there is a lot of preliminary artwork that is done, sometimes involving actual paper and paint (LOL!) before an item is rendered into a digital form that can be placed in the park. Some differences arise with color shifts, size shifting (from large picture to small image) and just how it looks in the game. Daykota is using the term 'beta' here not to mean 'that time before VMK went public' but rather 'testing and evaluating'. Actually, the artwork would be from before beta tests, when the concepts are laid out. Don't read anything special in any artwork you see, whether on VMK cards, on the home page, or on VMK itself. The quest cards most of them were made back in beta before they new what they were going to do with VMK. That is why some are like that.
