Our Goals:
To win this competition, detail is the key. Let's strive to put in a lot of effort into making a great ride! Really fill your room with exciting things to look at. NEVER leave a rider bored. Give them lots to feast their eyes on. In fact, put in some much scenery that they won't even have time to look at all. Palm Trees and crates (anything in bulk, really) make great items for riders to go "WOW" at!

Water Slide Competition Details

The Build Your Own Waterslide competition is coming to VMK! This will be a team-based room competition where Players form a Pool Patrol and build their own versions of a giant water slide.

Each team is to have one Lifeguard as the team leader whose role is to coordinate the team and register the team for the competition.

Here are the rules:

Each Pool Patrol is to consist of no less than 6 and no more than 20 members.
The ride may not exceed 30 rooms in length.
Players may only be on one Pool Patrol team.
Each member of the Pool Patrol must contribute at least one room to the ride.
The Lifeguard must be the owner of the Shallow End room, where the team's ride begins.
Waterslides will be judged on color, creativity, and overall ride experience.


You must choose a name for your Pool Patrol. Choose carefully, it must be allowable in VMK and must fit into the room name, preceded by Shallow End (example: Shallow End Dumbo). No "dictionary dances" are permitted in any Pool Patrol room names (example: Shallow End Dumbo To is not allowed).

Registration will be open Monday July 10 through Sunday July 16. Only the first 200 Teams that have properly registered will be accepted. The Lifeguard will provide the names of all Pool Patrol members as well as the names of all rooms in the Pool Patrol's slide. Late entries will not be accepted.

Once a team's registration has been submitted no changes may be made to team name or team membership. Only registered teams will be judged.

Judging will take place between the following times:
Friday August 4, 2:30 - 8:30pm (Pacific)
Saturday August 5, 8:30am - 7:30pm (Pacific)
Sunday August 6, 8:30am - 7:30pm (Pacific)

Please try to keep your ride open during the event so that others can enjoy what you and your team have created.

I agree that we need a sumit plumit. I still like my idea of a costume. I may be i little ugly but hey i mean the judges aren't judging us by the costumes we where :) I'm going to do a little research on Blizzard Beach for room and ride ideas!

Now for the Room idea, thegoof Metioned:I think we should use props to show the melting of the snow. Like start with snow filled room>mixed snow/no snow>completely snow filled room. Along the way there would be bumps and hills and turns.

I love the Summit Plummit idea! It really adds a thrill theme to the slide. My ideas are maybe to start off light then some more thrilling drops and hills. :D

I can do the Water Room, and the Another Water Filled Room.

Heres my idea for my rooms again:

Ill get two rooms that are identical, so it can confuse riders more. Like they enter a teleporter, and end up in the same room, but going backwards on the same track. I think that would be a cool effect.

I love the changing snow effect, but i never got any snow :( The ice would be like the most perfect thing for this though: you can stack it and make an excelent mountain!

Just thought of another idea. For those who dont know much about summit plummit, it is a ski jump that melted through so you go practacly straight down. The 2 identical rooms could be something like you go off the ski jump, but you dont make it so you go through a teleporter to another (identical room) go backwards, then drop almost straight down. But that probably didnt make sense.

Are we confusing Mount Mayday with Mount Gushmore? Mayday is Typhoon Lagoon. Gushmore is Blizzard Beach.

Great Idea, Though i have never been to either Water parks of WDW, But will be going to WDW This friday July 7th-July15th! Yay me! Well anyways I will not be here but when I'm there I will be going to the Waterparks and I think I'll be taking A LOT of pictures and I will be getting many Ride ideas, So when i come back, I'll sure I'll have Plenty of ideas for the my room and such, Since i've never been there. Yes, you're definitely considered part of the team.

Anyways, here's a rough layout of Mt. Gushmore, the centerpiece of our ride.

The slide should come out the center of the mountain and continue to the base. From then on, the rest of the slide should be hidden from view. It should simply continue on into the next room. Extra details can be added later.

That is a cool idea Oranges. I'm not sure what you mean by the slide coming out from the center, but it sounds pretty interesting. I can tell this is going to be a great water slide. :) Do we all pitch in to donate ice for the mountain? I have a few ice I don't need..

In order for the entry to be valid, you MUST include your VMKF name, the time you posted the bulletin and the DATE you posted the bulletin. If you forget any of the required three details, then I cannot add it.

The bulletin board will also be the place to find out when team meetings take place and other special announcements. If I need to see you individually, then I shall post a bulletin of that. This is where you'll need to keep checking back frequently so you don't miss anything. You'll be given AT LEAST a day and a half's worth of notice beforehand.

PMs are a last resort. I will only send them if I hold a meeting on the spur of the moment.

Ariellover4life, please, don't try and direct the show here. We're not focusing on meetings or anything remotely relative to that. All we're doing is carrying out the preliminary aspects first. Once we get details, I will look into meeting dates and make sure everyone is clear on the requirements.

If you post a recommendation for a meeting, I'll consider it, yes, but it will be completely disregarded as if it was never posted.

I hate to sound strict, but this is the "straightening out" portion of our team. We have to get some things settled first, and once that's taken care of, we can be a little more easy-going. But right now, I am asking that nothing specific be discussed right now. One of those "specifics" are MEETINGS.

yea like what she said i didnt want to go into anything big, but you know kind of get it ready so when they tell us we know what we are doing.

To win this competition, attention to detail is essential. You can't just put some ride pieces together in a guest room and hope it will win. You've got to add spice. There has to be DETAIL. Fill excess space with scenery items. Don't leave the riders bored. Give them something to look at. Really make them go "WOW" when they enter a room. Bulk amounts of ANYTHING really surprise guests. It can be anything - from crates to palm trees and chairs to monkey statues. Please guys, spend some time on this. Credits can be easily restored.

Also, the room title and description are vital. Don't give the room some silly little name like you didn't put any effort in it. Capitalization matters! I will inspect each room name and title, and I will ensure changes as necessary. Be creative with the description. Again, capitalization and PUNCTUATION matter! Don't use the lazy way of saying words (i.e.-plz, ty, yw, ttyl). Staff are looking for rides that are creative, fun, and well done. THIS INCLUDES THE WORDS THAT GO INTO IT. Write things like your age. You're not two, so please don't put "plz" or other lazy words in your description. Thanks. :)

Costumes:
To me, I think we should just discuss these costumes, and ideas about them, MyIdea Is Rainbow.Others May say no but here are my ideas about this Rainbow Costume idea.

Have everybody's Costume a different color of the rainbow
Have it either the same costume different color, or different costume and color(I go with the first one)
Have The Team Captain, Oranges, wear like a mixture of the colors
If we have 15, and there is 8 colors, 2 people will have the same color


I hope you understand this Rainbow Idea, If not just ask me, Tell me what You think of it.If you don't like it It's okay i understand it's fine It's just an Idea In The Proscessing(Sp?)

Exoxus, I will get a picture of myself on here today. I've been on VMK frequently, but I don't remember to take a picture...lol :D

We still need some more costume ideas. I believe they all should be uniform, rather than different per person. That's why I am leaning towards something with a wet suit, if it ever goes on sale. It probably won't, because you automatically change into it once you board the Water Slide. If not, the rainbow idea may come into fruition.

The promblem with the rainbow idea is we will all be slightly different looking, with may make it hard to determine we are all on the same team. I think we should we atleast find one outfit that is the same. Make it UNIFORM. I dont care if ya want to use a mickey shirt jean combo. Just make it the same uniform, including color for everyone.

Lets not turn this into a feirce competiion of the costumes ok?

Here is an idea for Mount Gushmore/The long slide/melting idea

What if we do two linking rooms with mount gushmore so

#1 the slide is really long and people feel like it is a steep drop off

#2 to represent the melting snow, we could have one room with mount gushmore all covered in snowy peaks and such, maybe utilizing the everest teleporters and then in the other room use the waterslide teleporters to show water melting and rushing off the mountain, set up right this could be a very amazing visual effect

Also, assuming these pieces are out, what if in some rooms we use the new palm tree sticks and ice along with the water rug for melting snow. We can have a water rug on the bottom then some of the palm sticks and then some ice on top of that and finally the ride pieces at the very top. It would seem like origionally it was a solid ice structure built around beam supports and the ice has melted.

Anyway those are some of my ideas I will post again if I have more. Oh on the costume thing I agree that I think all the costumes should be uniform so that people riding can identify us as the ride opperators:)

Thats fine, i was just trying to post some ideas the only reason that I used the tanks is because they look kinda like swim suit tops. Anyway everyone on the team is entitled to their own opinion, ariel could you post a picture of what your modifications would look like:)


Oh here is an idea for one of the rooms that I wanted to see what everyone thought of it. The basic idea is that it is a drain that people are being sucked down since all the snow has turned to water. Here are some rough examples, obviously the ice would not be used to prop it up but it was the only thing I had enough of at a time I would probably use the palm tree sticks and scatter water rugs all over the floor, anyway here it is. The first picture is just the pieces laid out as they would look if the ride was all flat, the second flat with the addition of the downhill pieces, and the last a representation of what it would partially look like.

Please, don't bash any ideas. Further bashings of other people's ideas will result in your ejection from the team. It is BLIZZARD Beach, which means ICE and SNOW. Typically, you wear snow hats when it's cold outside. In fact, I love the Everest incorporation and it may just be our costume.

Sorry guys, I wasn't on yesterday. I was celebrating the 4th at the big Magic Kingdom. I'll be buying a whole bunch of slide sets today, but I could run into a problem. I have only two downhill pieces, and NO uphill pieces. I believe you can stack them, but it would look better if they were all flowing.

Woohoo! What a wet and wild weekend on those water slides! Those slides were the coolest with the ups and down and twists and turns and the final splashdown in the Water Park Pool. Thanks for sliding, everyone! I think that's the first time I've seen everyone's bare feet!

Those brand new rooms are fashioned after the real Disney Water Parks at Walt Disney World® Resort in Orlando, Florida. Here's the story behind each of those parks. . .

Blizzard Beach opened in April of 1995. The Disney legend says that a freak snowstorm hit the area, leading to the building of Florida's first-ever ski resort. Of course, the snow melted quickly, leaving behind a bunch of soggy and snow less ski jumps and chair lifts. The poor resort was about to close for good when an alligator was seen sliding down a flume and splashing into a pool of water, screaming "Woohoo!!!!" That is how the "ski resort" was turned into a water park, with Ice Gator the Alligator as its mascot.

Typhoon Lagoon opened in June of 1989, and is home to the world's largest outdoor wave pool. The Disney legend states that a typhoon wreaked havoc on a formerly beautiful and peaceful tropical paradise. Ships, fishing gear, and surfboards were picked up by the strong winds and landed where ever the storm had thrown them. The centerpiece of the park is the "Miss Tilly," a shrimp boat marooned high on a mountain named "Mount Mayday" that erupts with water every half hour.

These world famous water parks are great for those really hot summer days, dudes. But if you can't get to Florida, you can hang out in the virtual Blizzard and Typhoon rooms to cool down! Now, if only I could find a way to get these rooms.. hmmmm.. I'll get my wheels spinning on that and recycle any news I roll across! Stay tuned for updates. Catch ya later!


Waterslide Competition

The Build Your Own Waterslide competition is coming to VMK! This will be a team-based room competition where Players form a Pool Patrol and build their own versions of a giant water slide.

Each team is to have one Lifeguard as the team leader whose role is to coordinate the team and register the team for the competition.

Here are the rules:
- Each Pool Patrol is to consist of no less than 6 and no more than 20 members.
- The ride may not exceed 30 rooms in length.
- Players may only be on one Pool Patrol team.
- Each member of the Pool Patrol must contribute at least one room to the ride.
- The Lifeguard must be the owner of the Shallow End room, where the team's ride begins.
- Waterslides will be judged on color, creativity, and overall ride experience.

You must choose a name for your Pool Patrol. Choose carefully, it must be allowable in VMK and must fit into the room name, preceded by Shallow End (example: Shallow End Dumbo). No "dictionary dances" are permitted in any Pool Patrol room names (example: Shallow End Dumbo To is not allowed).

Registration will be open Monday July 10 through Sunday July 16. Only the first 200 Teams that have properly registered will be accepted. The Lifeguard will provide the names of all Pool Patrol members as well as the names of all rooms in the Pool Patrol's slide. Late entries will not be accepted.

Once a team's registration has been submitted no changes may be made to team name or team membership. Only registered teams will be judged.

Judging will take place between the following times:
Friday August 4, 2:30 - 8:30pm (Pacific)
Saturday August 5, 8:30am - 7:30pm (Pacific)
Sunday August 6, 8:30am - 7:30pm (Pacific)

Please try to keep your ride open during the event so that others can enjoy what you and your team have created.

i got an idea for the summit plummit ride which if you like i can donate room, and build the ride. It'll start on a tiki room. then i'll build water slides going to the top of the room with water rugs all over the room. then i'll have an everst room like the tiki room contuing what i call "the ski lift" then i'll have another everst room being the top where i'll be the life guard telling people when to go like in rl. then they'll go down out of that room into a mark twain room ment to be the house. Then'll they'll make their way to a final tiki room with water rugs where they'll slide on the long path to slow them down to a stop. Say if you like, i won't start construction till i get the word

I am most definately there and I think that I have enough ice pieces to do mount gushmore you just need to show me how you want it to be, I can let other people on the team borrow some of my stuff as long as I get it back at the end of the competition. I have probably about 30 uphill pieces and around 50 downhill so hopefully this can help the whole team. My name on the forum is an account I had when I very first started that I do not use anymore and it would be a real pain to have to trade all the stuff to it. Also, lol, any team meating after 5:30 pm eastern I would definately be able to attend almost every time, with a few exception, but any earlier than that would depend on the day

As far as the room goes, the slide is great! Maybe you should put in just a few more items to really give people riding something to look at (especially staff). You could buy some teleporters (they look like waterfalls) and place them along a wall or so.

I've decided that we need one room with ONLY Uphill pieces. This will be where riders will "scale" the mountain to get to the top. The next room will be the actual Mountain, with only DOWNHILL pieces serving as the plummet of the summit. This will be the climax of the ride.

joe1357900, I LOVE the Melt-Away Bay room name. I abosolutely love it. I leave you in charge of building that. I think a Tiki Room (if you have one) would be suitable. Just put water rugs all over it with a water slide going above it.

I will make a note of which rooms and events people are doing. It will be posted on the first page of this thread.

Yes, you are on the team. You should probably get started on your room now. It's only 500 credits to get a new room. You can build a ride in one of those. 500 credits are easy to obtain. Just play Pirates twice and win both.

I love the ideas, especially the chairlift idea. Remember, we're only limited to 30 rooms, and we have about eight confirmed members wanting to do two rooms each. Then we have to add on the Shallow End and/or Lobby and the End Room.

Kancy, I'll let you do the Teamboat Springs room. We'll wait and see about the Runoff Rapids room. Let's do one room first and see how we do. Remember, we want to FILL the rooms with items. We want to really give riders something to look at.

Also I had an idea for the second room, if you like the idea of the ride starting as a race that is, what if the second room was a big race up and down that ends with the two slides joining together and then goes into the next room where the problems start

And it sounds to me like we could also use a plain old water slide type of thing too...I could handle that.
