View Full Version : Can we submit games?
Garfieldo 06-24-2006, 01:23 AM I'm wondering... Is it possible to submit a game for the arcade? Because the ones there aren't VMK-ish, and I have a program that I can make small arcade-type games with. Maybe people could create games for the arcade, and if they're really good, Nick or someone would add it?
Also, does it have to be a certain type? Like, does it have to be flash or can it be a Game Maker 6.1 game?
That's a question I was wondering myself. I am a novice game developer that can develop simple games (both arcade and action). I'm currently working on an adventure cursor game called Starcatcher. The only problem I'd have would be converting it to a Flash file.

Yeah, I just played a game and it seems like it's got to be a flash game... I'll edit my post asking if it needs to be flash. If it does, I'll have problems with that too... The problem being I don't have any idea how to do it. X.x
I'll bet if you were to submit your game to a site like Addicting Games, they would convert it for you. So if you were to submit it to them, they put it on their site, and then you get the flash... perfecto. If not, maybe one of the Admins or someone else on the site knows how to do it...

Chaelle 06-24-2006, 02:33 AM Well I can't think of anymore games that VMKF hasn't put up lol.
~Chaelle
Here's an idea: original games. ;)
I'm also seeing a lack of adventure games. The only one it has currently is Sonic: Ultimate Flash.

Anielmz 06-24-2006, 02:37 AM I wish we could play against each other on these games..
:) That would be a little more funner!
^More fun. lol.
And multiplayer games are incredibly hard to program... I should know, I've tried. You need to know some advanced coding and get connected to some sort of server... it's hard stuff.

brycey 06-24-2006, 02:55 AM ToonTown was made on a program called "Panda 3D", so if you're planning to do some Third Demension stuff, try that :)

Harder than it sounds, believe me. You need to be a master at scripting, because Panda only builds 3D models. In order to program a game, you need to know Python, a kind of script.
An old friend of mind took a 3D Modeling Class, and he said it's REALLY hard stuff. My games will be almost always 2D.
Now, any word on whether this is possible or not?

Yeah, we need an admin to look at this thread and tell us if they can use user-submitted games, and if they can use GM6 games.
Heh, that's what I use! Gamemaker 6 rocks once you get used to it.

Acoustic 06-24-2006, 04:15 PM If you get it in flash, you can post it on the site of the people who make the arcade system and they will convert it so that it can send highscores and suchlike.
Garfieldo 06-24-2006, 04:38 PM So it needs to be created in flash, eh? Hmm... Do you know of a site where you can make flash games?
Acoustic 06-24-2006, 04:54 PM No sorry. :(
It would be good if someone found one though :)
We still don't even know if we're allowed to submit games... flash or not...

You may submit games, but don't link sites.
Just mention the game name and we can find it in google.
If its a direct link pm me the links.
Remember, I don't really have time to convert many games, so please make sure the games are designed for...
v3arcade, ibpro arcade, vbarcade etc...
Schmoofy 06-27-2006, 04:33 PM I'm not sure it's designed for the arcade, but "Poom" is a fun game to play. It's a ball you need to keep bouncing in the air, with a platform that's always changing.
RikuBlade 06-27-2006, 07:50 PM Like Schmoofy I don't know if this is designed for arcade...
Uber Breakout II is a fun game. It's a game where you destroy circles instead of blocks and the arena thing is a circle, you can play with 1 player or 2 players...hard to explain it's better to look at yourself
