yea that does happen often. as vmkstar99 said.
what sometimes works for me is going to certain public areas. If i can't trade in a guest room i ussually go to the matterhorn

So wait... things not working makes you happy? Did I hear that correctly? That was one of the worst things about the beta time (and many many months after the beta time, for that matter). Not that there were glitches that were amusing, but there were bugs that made the game irritating.

Good side - No random trade requests in your guest room...

Bad side - If you want to trade you have to go to main street or a room like that.

I also noticed it seems to depend on the number of objects and people in your room.

I have been unable to trade in a room, and taken some of the room items into my inventory (removed them from the room) and then I have been able to trade.

Might not be worth it to some though.
