View Full Version : Alternative Ways to Get the Fireworks Magic Pin
Alexander 06-18-2005, 01:48 AM While talking to VMK_Mocha, I had an idea pop into my head on how to realistically create a challenging yet doable requirement for the Fireworks Magic pin.
Similar to how you had to beat the last level of Pirates 10 times to get the Ghost Magic Pin, here are my suggestions.
Alternative 1
Come in first place in 20 times
Reasoning - this is doable and is a challege to some of us now that the game won't start until there are 10 people. Furthermore, some of us have bad luck and always seem to come in just behind Retlaw or Starlight.
Alternative 2
Score above 200K 10 times
Reasoning - While easy for some, breaking 200K is a challenge for those users who cannot run the game at the speed it was intended. Breaking it at least once is a reward unto itself. Twice is just as sweet. However, even then, some of us end up having a bad game and fail to break it. This is a good challenge even if it will be easy for everyone with better computers.
Alternative 3 (AKA The Hard Way)
Score above 200K AND come in first 10 times
Reasoning - See above two.
So, what do you guys thing? Post your own ideas as well if you have any! Don't let me be the only creative mind on this site.
Jediviper 06-18-2005, 02:07 AM I agree, the 240,000 and not win requirement is pretty tough. I have been able to score over 240,000 only twice (once almost 250,000) and both times I won by a good margin. I think that you ideas have a lot of merit. I am hoping that the idea right now may be to let the people who are exceptionaly good at the fireworks game get the first crack at the pin, and then maybe in a few weeks or something they will lower the requirments so that more players gan get it. (This is just me thinking, I have no info to this respect)
dewdrop 06-18-2005, 02:08 AM I like it the way that it is. It is difficult, yes but it is doable if you practice and put some hard work into it. I would just change the whole coming in under first place glitch.

I'm growing to hate this responce.
Some of us practice and practice and the best we can score is 220K. We can't do any better no matter how hard we practice! Some people have maxed out and can't go higher even if they practice until they get 100k credits!
DBFan 06-18-2005, 02:42 AM I think it still has to remain a challenge. But I do like the 3rd option. I think it should be 20 times of getting in first place with a score of at least 200000 each time. It would take a while to complete but overall it would be very easier for people to get it.
Maleficent2 06-18-2005, 02:46 AM esp if you can not ever make it in the top 10 and get kicked out everytime.....
or just get kicked out I was having one of the best games ever and errored out!
I really think the should lower the bar a little not everyone is forunate enough to have a fast connection Dial up just doesn't cut it. And while I love the game I am not spending my time when next I get to the World playing VMK...I'll do the quests and make a character but I'll not spend very much time playing since afterall I will be there.
Mal
Chele 06-18-2005, 05:32 AM I've played and played and played this game for several weeks now and I can't get over 220,000. I just can't figure it out. I'm great at level 1, 3 and 5. But 2 and 4 I just can't master.
And, something else that bothered me. I got kicked out today in position 10 at the end of level 1 and had over 40,000 points! There are some really good players out there.
raspberry611 06-18-2005, 05:39 AM I like the second way better.
PixelProphet 06-18-2005, 06:18 AM everyone is going to say number two, espically me
Alexander 06-18-2005, 06:32 AM everyone is going to say number two, espically me
Yeah, I think the second way is a good compromise. I mean, with Pirates, it takes time to get the Ghost Pin, which is why it is so common. The Fireworks one is so dang hard because that requires skill. And the ones getting it are hardly the target audiance of VMK.
dizneydesi 06-18-2005, 09:00 AM i think that there needs to be two different player games, based on computer strength. dial up in one and dsl or higher in another. you would get some player crossover, but by and large i think most people would go where they are supposed to. then keep the rewards at the option 2 range. it would still be challenging for those of us who are hand eye coordination challenged, plus those who desire a harder game have that option too. personally, i would still get whipped by a 7 year old. LOL :)

Well, I did suggest that there be a quality control option for the Fireworks game, but I guess no one on the programing team knew what I was talking about.
If most flash games that I've seen on places like MiniClips, there is always an option in either the menu or if you right click on the game that lets you control the quality of the animations.
If I could, I'd put VMK in it's entirety on low quality just so the animations would run smoother, but I don't see this happening anytime soon.

I completly agree with you!!! I do not like how you have to get not first place to get it...That is kinda stupid but I love having a challenge...I have not been able to get the firework pin yet, but I try everyday!! And I have pretty much accepted the fact that I am not going to get it (unless a miracle)!! Anyway I don't care if I don't get this pin (unlike others who MUST HAVE this pin). I think this pin is a great accomplishment for all the people who have it... And making it easier to get just because people's computers can not run the game is losing the other glory in having the Firework Magic Pin...Just some thoughts of my own :)
Alexander 06-18-2005, 06:38 PM You two need to learn how to complain. Just a thought.

Wasn't complaining :) Just adding what I think about the situation....*think* hmm...You know I think that is what a forum is for???
FlyThenFall 06-18-2005, 06:56 PM Just my two cents...
I'm not sure if the magic pins are supposed to be something everyone should be able to get. It's really just a symbol of prestige for those who have talents in a certain area of VMK. I'm sure if there's a magic pin eventually for the Jungle Cruise game I won't be able to get it (I barely break 15K), but I'm not going complain too much. I think the 240K requirement, while extremely difficult and therefore only reserved for the people on the high scores list, is A-OK if the VMK staff wants to make magic a more exclusive thing to have. I do like the idea of winning "X" amount of times though, if they do happen to change the requirements.

Well, there goes the whole "the game will be fair to all users even those that can't go the parks" load of **** yavn told me when I first started playing.
Mr.Lunatix 06-18-2005, 07:25 PM I don't care who has it, Its a Magic Pin in a Virtual Game... Whoever does have it, I Congratulate you and when I am around you YOU BETTER USE IT! ;)
Alexander you seem to be complaining about alot of the game. You have a bug in Pirates not allowing you to play so you asked yavn for a pin.
You think the game is unfair to people who can't go to parks. Guess what I can't go to parks and I have a Pirate Pin?
And now your complaining about not being able to Win the Magic Pin for Fireworks. IS that any part of the game you do LIKE??? You seem to be complaining alot.

Yea 15k Is Hits home with me to... I go to fast and run into things LOL
It's just his two cents, but I totally agree with Alexander. I'm infuriated that there's this sort of thing going on. The invisibility pins were far easier to get. Also, the Fireworks game is a huge hassle. It's a huge file, long load, long game time and the worst rewards of them all.
Also, those whom possess the fireworks pin usually (Not saying anyone here) flaunt their pins and claim superiority over those who haven't got the pin. Pardon the expression, but it makes me blow my top. Infact, I've actually considered quiting VMK because of this along with other reasons. Their snobishness even carries into other games such as Pirates, where I then briefly own their entire team, regardless of who they are. Seriously, I *hate* the way this is done. But as FlyThenFall has said, I also second the motion of the win X many times.
Mr.Lunatix 06-18-2005, 07:35 PM and Flaunting goes so far in a game. Remember the FORUMS are different from the Game you would even think about quitting if we never had these forums. So to blame VMK for something that the forums has done is irrelevant to the situation. Also your telling me you wouldn't be a brag just a little if you had the Fireworks pin which very few have, and denying that answer is useless because we all would.

People may flaunt their pins...But you would to if you had one... This forum is only suggesting my point...Obviously for those who do agree with Alexander...This forum for you is only saying... "My computer can not load the fireworks game and it is making me not be able to get the 'NEW' Fireworks Pin  So therefore...You people can't get it are extremly mad....Mad enough to quit the game...Because you think it is un-fair and the game is ****???
SpinMarty 06-18-2005, 07:47 PM I don't seem to do well so any of those requirements seem unreachable as it is LOL.

First off, I had a bug in Pirate that didn't award me the pin! Get it right. A cast member said that there was a bug when they released the last Pirate Pin in that no one was winning it after meeting the requirement for the pin. That's why yavn and every other programer put the pin in my inventory after the park closed. It wasn't because I wasn't able to play it. It was because I met the bar and the game screwed up itself on a programing level.
I refuse to answer the second question/respond to the second statement because the words I want to say would just cause a flame war.
Lastly, I'm trying to find something that I like in the game, but the only thing I can find is the whole "Doll house" feature of the rooms. That's probably the only thing I like and have not come to hate in one fashion or another in the game. Everything else I'm nuetral against.
Actually, I don't flaunt my pins about. Surprising to people, I simply refuse to show off, though I do accept compliments in my preformance in the Pirates game. You have seen much, Lunatix, but there's always something you will learn. Secondly, I did not blame the forums. Read my post carefully. I saud, very clearly VMK, NOT VMKForums. As you can see, I harbour no hate towards those on these forums. Infact, I think that we are some of the best players in the game, not because of preformance, but rather by personality, Thirdly, denying me flaunting would not be useless. As I said very clearly, I do not flaunt pins or other assessories, not even a little. Period. If this makes me a boy scout, then fine.

This is the ONLY thing you like about the WHOLE game?? That is majorly sad...I love the whole game even if I can't get all the pins!!! :D Not to mention I <3 all of the friends I have made on this game...
Mr.Lunatix 06-18-2005, 08:07 PM This thread is no more you got your magic pin so therefore its a useless thread. I am going to close it before anything else rude or possible flame begins.
