I know the World Cup Season is in the air. From what I've heard, Brazil is the favorite to win this year.

So I am asking you all, who do you think will win the World Cup this year? Post what country you think will win and why! (You can mention player's names)

Make sure to only leave positive comments and to stay along Forum Rules. If you don't like another person's post, don't post anything bad about it. There is no wrong answer, these are peoples' opinions!

So, post away!

Although Brazil being the favorite this year, I think they have an immense chance of losing, since most of their players do think they have the cup in their pockets, but they don't. Feeling like winners before winning will give them a huge kick in the head by suddenly losing their chances. As many might have heard in the news, some Brazilian players are going to parties and not training, because they do think they can win the World Cup very easily, and this attitude might play them against. I don't want them to lose, but I would like to see their players come to earth a bit and don't feel like winners before the final comes. They do have wonderful players, but their attitude needs to improve as I have already said. I think Germany has good chances, as well as the Czech Republic, France maybe, Portugal and Italy. I do think England's game the other day against was very bad, and they should have scored way more, and if it wasn't for Gamarra who did an own goal, they would have drawn, when they should have won by a minimum difference of two goals. I think this World Cup will bring lots of surprises.

I agree with Karo. Brazil may be the spoken favorite, but it all depends what happens on the pitch. People can talk all they want, but what matters is the results. I see Holland, Germany, France, and England doing well, but I expect Australia to be the dark horse/surprise this year. They looked good against Japan especially scoring 3 goals in 8 minutes!

Who was out partying? I didn't hear anything about this. Brazilians have good attitudes. You can tell by Ronaldinho's face; he's always smiling and laughing. How do they not have good attitudes? And why can't they feel like winners? They've won the world cup 5 times. Can't they shed some pride? I know it's not good to rub it in someone else's faces, but they're not doing that in the first place. I actually found that some of the Croatian players have a bad attitude. At the end of the game, an old man offered to give a Brazilian shirt to the Croatians (it's a tradition to trade shirts at the end of the game) and he said no. I thought that was kind of rude.

And did you see the game today? Kaka & Ronaldinho are amazing! But I wouldn't be surprised to see Australia vs. Brazil in the finals.

I have to agree with Kairo about Brazil. The players will partying and they do think they have the cup won. Don't get me wrong, i think they're really good, but today they did not play well. Granted, they scored 1 goal, but they could not score another goal. And for a team that is know worldwide for being great soccer players, they have not shown to be World Cup Champions quality this World Cup.

I might have to say that Germany, Italy or the Czech Replublic, might win.

I don't mean it in the way that they are rude or mean, because Brazilian people are of the best in the world, always dancing and having fun, but have you heard what the coach of Brazil said? He said that they were so good that they could have beaten Croatia with their substitutes, before the match, and that attitude is very egocentric, and that kind of attitude is the one that destroys teams like for example Argentina in Japan and Korea 2002. Argentina was the favorite, and the players believe there was no other better than them, but what? They were kicked off in the first round! I do believe Brazil presented a very poor match against Croatia today, since beating them by 1-0 is not a proper score for such players as Brazil has. Croatians ate something at Switzerland before arriving at Germany which made nine of today's eleven players ill, but still they played, and you could notice they were below their average, and still the supposed "best team of the world" won by a very little difference, when they should have goaled the opponent team by 5-0. I am not meaning that Brazil has a bad team, because they don't; indeed they have the best players of the world in a single team, but the way they are behaving is making them be under their average levels. I would like to criticize your post in a negative way when you recurr to history, saying Brazil has won five world cups already. I would like to refutate that idea by saying history has nothing relevant at all in the present championship. If Argentina had Maradona in the past, should I say we are the best in this championship because he was on our team and we should be the best nowadays? I don't think so. Should France say they are the best in this championship because they had Platini in the past? I don't think so. Should Brazil say they are the best in this championship because they won 5 times in the past, or because they had Pele? Nope. Present is what matters, and they can have the best players in the world, but if their attitude is not as it should, they could commit terrible mistakes, like they did today in the match against Croatia, they played terribly bad, when they could give much more. I believe a team with awfully bad players but with an attitude that only focuses in winning no matter what could have more chances than a team with wonderful players who think they have already won the championship when it has just started.

Psst: Australia in the finals? I think you are a bit missed there. I don't think they have big chances of accomplishing that, indeed, they were lucky to reach the world cup by beating Uruguay in a match that only those teams who were near of not qualifying from Oceania and South America play.

Wait, did you say THE COACH said that? Because THE COACH isn't necessarily out there playing, so you can't blame the coach for giving the players a bad attitude! Plus, he was probably just happy about their victory. I mean, I'm Brazilian, and when we win something we'll say almost anything. Of course, most of us keep it in a "non-rude limit" as I like to call it, but others can overdo it and say mean things.

BRAZIL! Again! I'm Brazilian

Seriously? That's cool, I'm Brazilian, too! Are you from Rio, because I know a lot of people from Rio here (including me, lol). Well, actually, I'm not REALLY from Rio...everyone in my family except my brother and I are Brazilians.

The coach has one of the biggest influences in the team. He should be the one that prohibits them from going to parties and doing some other stuff they did but won't name because I would be breaking a forum rule if I said so, and not just let them do so and even say that the substitutes can win a match. He not only acted awfully rude against the Croatians, but showed how he thinks they already won the cup.

Well, people in Brazil like to party, can't they do that? Plus, they ARE practicing! OK, maybe not together so much, but they're still practicing, I mean soccer is THEIR LIFE!!! Like I always say "Soccer is in every Brazilian's blood!"

I'm not saying partying is wrong, but they should know when to. They are supposed to be extremely concentrated and well-trained, since this is the biggest thing in soccer, so they should give their best. From my experience, and using the logic, if you have been to a party and then you need to train, you won't be able to give your 100%, even if you try, since you will be tired from the previous day, and that is what is happening to Brazilians, they are not giving their 100% on this World Cup. They can party whenever they want, but now it's not the right moment. If they were giving their 100%, I would be glad to see the best soccer that could ever be displayed by watching their matches, but sadly, they aren't giving that show :(

May I just ask you 1 question? Where exactly did you find out they were partying? From what I've heard, if they walked into ANY party, they'd have to run away due to the screaming fans and all!

Heard it in the news. Over here we have the general news which is in almost all TV Channels, and there are about 7 ~ 8 channels that are completely based in informing the most minimum detail about this world cup. All of the channels stated that Brazilians were partying more than what they were supposed to, and also some French players had gone out partying more than what they should. And you make a good point about the fans, now that I ask myself, I think it's weird that they didn't had lots of crazy screaming fans, but who knows! Maybe they payed some special security to avoid them, or anything similar? To be frank, I didn't hear a thing of how they avoided fans, or if they had trouble with the fans.

When you say "Over here", it sounds as if I don't live in the US...actually, I do, lol. It's just that I used to live in Brazil (pratically everyone in my family is Brazilian). Anyway, take it from someone who has actually MET their fans: If they saw even one tiny GLIMPSE of them...well, let's just say a picture with them WOULDN'T be worth 1,000 words.
