What:
Our first ever Pin Trading Round-Up

Everyone loves to trade pins! This weekend we invite you to design a room where Players can visit, and trade pins. The best pin trading rooms have a sense of fun and excitement, but are also well organized. Show us your version of a rootin' tootin' pin trading room and you could win big!

When:
Friday, 2:00pm — 7:00pm Eastern
Saturday, noon to 4:00pm and 6:00pm — 10:00pm Eastern
Sunday, noon to 4:00pm and 6:00pm — 10:00pm Eastern

Rules:


Room name must contain the Room owner's name followed by "Pin Trading".
Example: VMK_Babs Pin Trading
Rooms should be designed to make trading easy; no games or teleporters please.
All players visiting a Pin Trading room, including the room owner,should be ready and willing to trade the pins they are wearing. If you have pins you will not trade, don't wear them.

Judging:


The room must be on the Popular Guest Rooms list to be eligible.
The room owner must be present to be considered.
Members of the VMK Staff will be visiting eligible Guest Rooms between the hours posted above, but cannot guarantee that all rooms will be visited and/or judged.
There will be one winner for every hour of the competition. That means there are 19 chances to win!
Winners will be announced in the next Newsletter.

This weekend only, check out the Specials in Shrunken Ned's Shop and the Star Trader's Shop. Get yourself all "DUDED up", ya hear?

Trade with VMK staff members:
Just like in a Disney park, VMK staff members will be trading pins during the event. Any staff member who is wearing a Goofy hat and is in a Pin Trading Guest Room will trade pins with you. If they are wearing the pin and you see them in a Pin Trading room you may ask them to trade with you. If you see a VMK staff member outside a trading room and/or not wearing a Goofy hat, please don't ask them to trade.

Some notes about trading etiquette:


Please ask a Player first if they would like to trade, and wait for a reply before sending a Trade request.
When you're done trading, leave the room so someone else can get in.

What's the prize?They didn't announce the prizes of the last contest until after the contest was over. Perhaps they will be distributing the prizes to room owners during the judging rather than when VMK is closed. I guess we'll know after the first few hours of judging tomorrow.

EDIT: Just to let you all know, I am going to be camping again this weekend from tonight (Thursday) until Sunday night, so I won't be entering this pin trading contest. It's really a shame, because on the outside chance that I might actually win again, I really <3 all of the flaming "charmed circle" posts this would generate here and over on dis. ;) I do have every intention of entering the "It's a Small World" poetry contest though (and spelling/punctuating all of my rhymes correctly), so look out! :Tongue:

Well, I know what event I won't be participating in.It takes two people for a room to show up on the popular room list. If you're that worried about it, invite a mule over for the afternoon to keep you company. ;)

Also, I don't think they are judging you based on what pins you are willing to trade; I believe it's another room decorating contest. Just throw on some NPC pins and hang on for the ride.

I foresee two possibilities for the secret costume. With all the western references in that news letter it could be cowboy. But they dais to look in the star trader's shop and adventureland shop. Star trader's will be selling the new pin, so adventureland shop may be selling the explorer suit.

Too much VMK changes your spelling... it's spelled "week". And yes, the Flying Carpet magic pin could be out for sale in a few weeks.... but that doesn't mean they might hand out a few... or 19 pins to be exact as a little pre-sale teaser.


When it says "'Duded It', ya hear", at first I thought it meant "dude" like a "dude ranch", like a cowboy, western thing. But I guess it most likely means something along the lines of "Duds", which, like bragoandcheri already pointed out, means to get dressed up, to put on some "duds".

On second thought this contest might not be the best idea until guest room trading bug is fixed lol

Do you think CL's are helping judge?? I'm not one, but it might help the udging you know. All they have to do is go into the room and take a picture of it.

very Adventureland-y to me!

Also the costume will most likely be sold at Adventureland Shop. The pin is going to come out at Tomorrowland shop so it makes since the costume will be at advnetureland.

The costume will probably be the Haunted Mansion Tux or Cowboy for boys and Haunted Mansion Tux or Cowgirl for girls. I can't remember if the Cowboy outfit is for girls and boys?

My question would be if indeed it is the cowboy costume to be offered to us this weekend, why is it not going to be listed in the Frontierland store specials tab. A cowboy costume is more of a western theme (i.e. frontierland) whereas an explorer's costume is more in line with Adventureland. I just have a bad feeling that VMK is going to bait and switch us on this one, leading up with wording that would seem to indicate the release of one costume and then actually releasing a totally different costume. But we shall see tomorrow morning!

MY Figmentisback pin trading.... room based in haunted mansion is ready as it will be... nothing special... just random set up with tables and chairs.. and one red one for me with a nice small set up... I might improve it tomorrow before the event.. and hope i can get people to visit!

Fixed up my room last night. Its actually not looking too bad, I may have to do a quick move around on Sunday when I get back but no big.

That's what I'm trying to tell you people that think it will be a Cowboy suit! Why have cowboys in a place that is themed after jungle exploration and pirates knocking the bageezus out of each other with iron balls flying at 55 mphs?

I'll be very surprised if they add anything to those drop menus, as every event item so far has been shoved into the Special! tab.

Really now. For that, I'm rather pleasently surprised.

I would go check it out, but I'm on the school computer. There is a "No Playing games" policy, and it's pretty well spelled out what is a game and what isn't. Thankfully, this site falls under the "checking messages" umbrella, which is perfectly fine.

Still, that is surprising. How about the Princess clothing on the girls end? Is this past event's costume in their perminate catalog?
