I would have been silly for Kelloggs to stop this promotion now with the new movie coming and the new pirates cereal I saw last night on the store shelves featuring Jack Sparrow on the box and Disney plastered all over it.

Cereal is like coco puffs with marshmallows in shapes, but hard to say exactly what shapes they were.

It is still up and running. If you look on the promotions part of VMK it still says "Get Pirate Powers From Kelloggs" I think that the promotion ending is just a myth.

What he means is the codes that give you the magic powers do not work any more that means that no account that has not redemeened Pirate Costume Magic, Cursed Storm, and Buried in Treasure will no longer be able to get those magic. So a new account wanting those magic is doomed to not have them since they are also not tradeable.

There seems to be a little confusion out there in regards to Kellogg's year-old cross promotion with VMK, so whaddya say we make like Al Gore and try to clear the air?

While it's true that the promotion agreement VMK had with Kellogg's has officially ended and you can no longer purchase the specially-marked cereals which originally provided the codes, the codes for Skull Rock Rooms and the three Pirate Magic Pins (Pirate Costume, Buried In Treasure, Cursed Storm) are still active and redeemable.

It's yet to be seen if Kellogg's will eventually remove the VMK-related game from their website, and if they do, obviously no new Room Codes will be able to be generated. But even if they do remove the game, I can't see any reason why the codes for Pirate Magic Pins would no longer be accepted by VMK. While the codes for the Skull Rock room are randomly generated and non-reusable, there are only 3 codes for the 3 Pirate Pins and these can be redeemed as long as you haven't previously used them on your account. The pins themselves have no connection with Kellogg's or promote Kellogg's in any way; they're simply Pirate pins that were once available through purchasing certain types of cereal. The only thing on VMK that still promotes the cereal connection is Discovery Island in Adventureland of VMK; so if they wanted to stop giving Kellogg's a shout-out, all they'd have to do is bury the sign in some pixelated sand. Why would VMK want to restrict people from getting pins they had spent time and money creating when it would spur complaints from new players who couldn't obtain them, and when it would be just as easy to keep things as they are?

I've also heard people claiming that the Kellogg's promotion ends August 1st, 2006 as opposed to the June 1st date that others predicted. This is incorrect as well. If you read the Promotions page carefully, you can see that the asterik at the bottom of the page refers to the discount for creating a Virtual Magic Kingdom You-Design-It Tee and not to Kellogg's. Here's what it says, word for word:

Just because a promotion has changed, doesn't neccesarily signify that the original information was misleading. The information posted was accurate as of when it was posted. :)

When it was posted, all the facts checked out. We rushed to play, yet as the days went on, something was changed. This meant that a thread change was needed too. Know it was nothing bad against the original post, but the thread itself was getting cluttered with "No its not" , "It works for me" and "Oh no, the world is ending".

Now, at least people can read they have a little extra time. AND guess what, that WAS posted in the thread, but sadly, most people decided not to read the entire thing and still lead to confuse even more people.

The promotion might have ended but I far as I know they ran out of codes and they will be emailing when they receive more codes, as for the old codes I have several of them from 6 months ago and they still work today!:wave2:

Then for a short while pretty early on they ran out of codes too but got more. I dont remember the time frame for this but it was in the first months of the game.

I just play the game, get the code and then close the window. After I have closed the window, I open it to the game again and play for a new code. I just did this when I tested the game and I got six codes, so it still works.

I noticed that it said you could only get one code for the game before you click for the code but I played many times (without closing the window or deleting cookies or any of that) and got different codes every time.

I hope that means they can be traded and combined! That would be really cool! I know there are plenty of players from the early days of VMK that have multi star Buried in Treasure magic pins as well as multi star Pirate suit Magic pins. So, that is a great idea Neoteny! We should ask Yavn to allow that to happen!

Right, it's just the magic codes which are no longer any good. Coincided with the "sinking" of Discovery Island.

But i want to know what happen to the monsters inc. teleporter game i wanted to play it badly but it wasn't in the mini game section on VMK home page. same thing with yeti game i cant find it, it like disapeared in mid air.

The Monsters game is gone, but the Yeti game still works.
