View Full Version : If you could get anything as a Beta Tester Reward...
Alexander 06-16-2005, 05:06 PM ..what would it be?
My wish is to see the following when I log in the next time after Beta ends.
1,000 Credits
A choice of ONE and only ONE free Magic Pin (including ones you have already got)
A Free Guest Room that looks like the Castle Banquet Hall from the various Disney movies/Princess Breakfast, which would be unavailable for purchase as it will be the replacement room for the free you you get for getting the Gold Fireworks Pin
A Beta Tester Badge under my Character's name whenever someone clicks on it
wdwlover 06-16-2005, 05:11 PM sounds good
:)
how about mickey ears saying beta tester on them
or gold mickey ears
:)
KrazyChik 06-16-2005, 06:10 PM I dont ask for anything....I play VMK for enjoyment...And if they decide to give Beta testers something...That is great...If they dont it will not make me quit the game because I recived nothing...
I actually would love to have what Alex just said. Also, Disney even said they were going to give all the beta testers a gift, so let the speculation roar!

I think we all play for fun it is just a hypothetical question also for fun....so what would you really like???!?!????!
I like all of your ideas but would increase the credits to at least 2500 so I can buy some things it will take me months to accquire without a free gift ;)

PixelProphet 06-16-2005, 10:33 PM A magic pin or article of clothing that is not available would be most ideal so you could show it off.
GreatGatsby 06-16-2005, 10:37 PM If anything were given, I would go for the tester badge. Something you're bestowed that is not traded or lost.
MrGenie 06-16-2005, 10:44 PM ...Disney even said they were going to give all the beta testers a gift, so let the speculation roar!
I agree with GreatGatsby's post...a permanent beta tester badge that doesn't use up one of your pin slots would be very, very cool. However, referencing Whar's post, I'm curious how they would define who is a beta tester. Conceivably, that could be all 70,000+ of us who have presently registered, and who knows how many before the game officially launches. Or, would they base it on who has submitted bugs/feedback during the beta period? Hard to say. I will say that I would be disappointed if the reward ends up being another 50 credit magic carpet chair, like one of the quest prizes. Ugh. :)
PixelProphet 06-16-2005, 10:56 PM well i am suer they could qualify beta testers as peokle that signed up the first week of the beta release, not the people the day before the offical release
Alexander 06-16-2005, 11:42 PM well i am suer they could qualify beta testers as peokle that signed up the first week of the beta release, not the people the day before the offical release
There goes me, then, because I didn't sign up until a week after Beta started.
However, I did send a lot of bug reports over that first week of mine.
Another thing I thought up for Beta Testers as a reward.
A Special VMK BETA circle rug for your room! This rug cannot be bought anywhere in all of VMK and looks like the VMK logo only with the word BETA TESTER stamped on it. You would also get a Poster that looks the same to put on the wall.
Nedakh 06-17-2005, 04:00 AM I always thought a cool icon (think 'Born in Park') would be great. It would say "Day One" and exclusively for us. No trading, no buying, no exceptions. I have suggested it to VMK staff ;)

Why "Day One" though? Why not just "Beta Tester" instead? I mean, some of us signed up long after the first day, you know.
shiregirl 06-17-2005, 07:18 AM I still vote (I said it in another thread) for a pin of some kind. Whee! I heart pins.

I got the idea from the Disney Visa Card, which granted Day One status for a few weeks if not months? "Day One" as a more general term, not just for people that signed up on literally day one. It's a term to signify since the beginning :p
dizneydesi 06-17-2005, 07:26 AM how about a special effect that happens whenever someone clicks on your sig? like pixie dust or something?
I also heart everything people have said so far! :)
Tyger Rose 06-18-2005, 06:56 AM How about the Beta Testers getting their own section in the park? Like a Virtual Club 33?
I'd also like the Beta Testers being able to preview the upcoming parts of the park before the rest. A continuing beta test, I guess... If that makes any sense.
Oo, I like the sparkly clicky idea. Im a sucker for anything that's glittery.

I'd also like the Beta Testers being able to preview the upcoming parts of the park before the rest. A continuing beta test, I guess... If that makes any sense. These ideas alone make up for so much of the bugs and other crud I had to endure. I wouldn't mind being a continuing tester for new areas and new games.
And a Virtual Club 33 for Beta Testers only? I like it, but what would be in it that only Beta Testers can have access to?

I think I'd pattern it after the real Club 33, maybe even special games that we'd have to keep secret from everyone else, a special area that accommodates more people. A concession area maybe? A store just for the beta testers. Id love to see some of the items you can buy in a real park show up. Like the balloons and the Mickey icecream pops. A mickey water bottle. Items that CANT be traded. A better dictionary would be nice in the club. One that updates to include usernames and other game related words.
Id like to see a section of the game where new users go to learn after the FAQ and game hints leave them still needing help. Where older users can help new players get oriented around the site. Purely voluntary with a pretty pin. No special abilities required as opposed to the Community Leader. OrientEARS at the VMK University... Or even little information kiosks around the park that are little chat areas, same concept. OrientEARS could be restricted to only Beta Testers for the first year or something.

Now that I would visit a lot.

I don't know if I was the only one that suggested it, but thought it was cool it came to be. I'm very happy, it's perfect and exactly what I wanted :) Thanks yavn & staff!

FlyThenFall 06-27-2005, 05:00 PM I would love if they could FastTrack ideas/suggestions/help reporters from the Beta Testers. Extra VMK Staff love would be greatly appreciated...;)
(100th Post..WHEE!!!)
TheWolf 06-27-2005, 05:06 PM The truth is out
Nedakh has psychic powers. :)
How freaky was that prediciting the Day One badge *spooky*
GreatGatsby 06-27-2005, 05:16 PM If anything were given, I would go for the tester badge. Something you're bestowed that is not traded or lost.
Although I didn't specify "Day One," I'd still like to think I contributed in some way; we got the badge I had initially suggested.
I'm sorry there are some who are disappointed, but I have to wonder: what did you think we were doing? We were testing a FREE online GAME.
That's all. No one here cured a major disease, no one saved a life, no one stopped a disaster. We played a game.
What do you want -- you name in stone and a lifetime pass on the airline of your choice? C'mon! Get real.
Be happy with the badge and a free game.

Freaky!!!!
Kudos for a psychic mind!

Fine, no credit for me!
Yes, because look at all the other stuff you asked for...When you start a list that is to demading then...Who is going to read the rest of it at the bottom??
It is over and done with and I am happy with what I got... At least we got something... :)
parisparis 06-27-2005, 05:49 PM i would get all the maic oin except the bruued in gold pin
kiriv 06-27-2005, 05:49 PM Not to pop anyone's bubble, but just posting here, other than lots of VMK people reading it doesn't really do that much.. It gets the idea out there, but thats about it.
If I'm not Mistaken, Nedakh actually sent his suggestion to VMK.. so it wasn't just a forum post, but an acutal submitted suggestion.
Props to Nedakh for getting his suggestion used!!! that is awesome Dood.
By the way, for future reference use the Contact Us link to submit good ideas for the game. I have noticed there are alot of great ideas on here, and don't know if they are being submitted.

I think it wasn't the point of predicting "the badge" but rather the point of the "Day One" idea that got some excited. It was very specific! And as kiriV said, I did suggest it to VMK a few days before I even posted and they replied "Great Idea!" When I posted, I wasn't looking for kudos or credit (nor do I seek it now); I just felt good that my suggestion "may" have influenced yavn & staff to make it happen. At the end of the day, it doesn't matter - I am just happy and excited, because I really wanted this badge. I also wanted to demonstrate that VMK does listen and take user feedback, as to encourage all to send in ideas and comments.
MrGenie 06-27-2005, 06:03 PM Well said, Nedakh...couldn't agree with you more. :)

I have an ideafro the club. It would be a few rooms, in a world. 1 room would be a shop, where you test new items and pins that will be released, iftheir magic pins, they may disapear after release. Another room would have a game in test, or games. Third would be a room that allows acces to testing rooms. If youre in the testing, this would be where you put all yourstuff(only tester could come in, and maybe you copuld put items in other public rooms),and this would be wherefeautures for rooms would be tested, like partys, new rooms types, falling ballons, closing rooms, and things like that. It would basically be a test server, but usingthe same guy and made a little cool.

Perhaps if you were a little nicer to your fellow fan site members, you would get more credit.
If your posts were a little more sociable, someone who was mistaken in his earlier post would give you an apology for the oversight.
But not this time.
Indychick 06-27-2005, 06:46 PM Now, now children, am I going to have to put you in the corner? :) (Don't get mad, this is meant to be funny! A joke, you see?)

I know I've rehashed this question multiple times in multiple threads, but I've yet to hear a good definitive answer. Just lots of speculation.
Is this really the best way to contact the admins/designers/powers-that-be? I submitted a number of messages, and never heard anything in response. Never got email saying "thanks, but we get a lot of messages, so we may not reply". Never got any indication that anyone saw the message at all.
TheWolf 06-27-2005, 06:55 PM I would like to give a whole-hearted apology to alexander for my overshight if I am the member Gatsby is refering too.
This was never meant to turn into an argument and I feel bad if I was a part of it.
I think all too often on forums there is a tendency by everyone to step on eggshells to avoid offending others. This in turn leads to just what they were trying to avoid. A forum can be a great community and I feel this is one such forum and hope we can all get along and air our views in a free manner without taking too much offense at oversights and disagreements in views, leading to a better environment for all to share and enjoy this wonderful gift that we have been given in the whole VMK experience.
Once again my sincerest apologies to all members.
I've had my say and now I hear the Pirates game calling again :)

What a nice thing to post! I am very impressed! *Thunderous Applause*
GreatGatsby 06-27-2005, 07:06 PM I would like to give a whole-hearted apology to alexander for my overshight if I am the member Gatsby is refering too.
I wasn't referring to you. I was referring to myself (and the apology I was not going to give because of the tone of the post I quoted.) Nevertheless, I think that was a fine post.
I'm also seeing more sniping occurring in the forum, and I've been starting to suggest in posts that we all tone down our rhetoric a little.
I think some of what you wrote here (your apology) was not completely neccessary, but I do think it was terrific! I may find I'll have to write the same at some point. If so, I'll remember what you said and try to live up to it.
GreatGatsby 06-27-2005, 07:22 PM When I posted, I wasn't looking for kudos or credit (nor do I seek it now)
Me neither. I was just happy thinking I may have contributed a little bit. It's possible what Alexander and I wrote may have gotten Yavn or the VMK Cast Members thiking, and your suggestion was the cap on the toothpaste, so to speak.
But we'll never know, and that's OK with me. Maybe I was a part, and maybe I wasn't.
The true bulk of my original post today was to say, "Hey, I asked for a badge, I like the badge, and that's enough for me," as a reaction to the children complaning about the apparent lack of new toys -- not who said what at what time.
If I really wanted to claim credit for VMK programming decisions, I'd apply for the post of VP over Yavn at the Walt Disney Company. I didn't intend this credit thing to become another of the constant debates we seem to be sparking these days.
PixelProphet 06-27-2005, 08:26 PM hey, we all got one, and it is great
AliceInVMK 06-27-2005, 08:56 PM I'm very happy with this. It's simple, clean, and nice-looking, even more so than the Born In Park badge. I really wasn't expecting anything at all, so I was pleasantly surprised when I clicked on someone's info to find this new badge, and then saw it on my own info as well.
yugioh908 07-01-2005, 02:40 PM i would like it to be a guest room called pirates island.there would be a hut and then trees with coconuts.lol
GBShorts 07-01-2005, 02:58 PM Er...this has already happened. There's no "I would like it to be" because it already was. :) last Monday. :)
