View Full Version : Journey into Imagination to Return?
figmentisback 05-27-2006, 01:53 AM Ditch the imagination institute and bring back the orignal pavilion to it's better days?? upgrade the 2nd floor to be more compliant ans safe... (adding a second elevator to be safer maybe?)
Returning the original Attraction.. (minus a turntable...they probably can do it better somehow..)
A new 3-d attraction to replace Honey... (YAY!!!)
The return of Dream finder to Epcot...
What do you think of these rumors??
As much as I'd love to see Dreamfinder and Figment in harmony once again, I doubt it'll happen. Disney seems to want to Pixar-ize or Movie-ize everything nowadays. There's no original ideas with their own original characters. This happens especially in Epcot; take a look at the Living Seas.
Come back to us, Figment. :(

.:Moomalademuffin:. 05-27-2006, 03:46 AM Figment.. - sigh - :(
Honey, I loved that, I hope they don't replace that.
And yes, Disney is Pixarizing almost EVERYTHING nowadays. I can't take it!

Figment you have given me hope! I greatly miss the standard attraction with everything. I even have the soundtrack remembering the ride. I hope they do fix everything and replace that silly Honey I shrunk the Audience with something like a figment 3-d show!
Darth_Ahar 05-27-2006, 12:59 PM i agree i saw honey i shrunk the audience it stunk on ice now I dont know who Figment is but bye what ive heard from yall he should have a 3-D show:CastMem:
disnyfreek 05-27-2006, 02:38 PM did the entire imagination institute close? well, my thoughts are, disney is still trying to revamp Epcot...Soarin' and Mission Space have made them almost there in terms of future world (world showcase could still use some work after the ending of the Tapestry of Dreams parade). Could they be adding yet another thrill ride? i doubt that they will reopen either attraction (honey i shrunk the audience and Journey into Imagination with Figment) because Honey i Shrunk the Audience is, for lack of a better word, washed up. It isn't nearly as popular as it used to be. Journey Into your imagination with figment has gotten so much criticism from critics and guests alike, saying that it doesn't beat the ORIGINAL attraction. Now whether they bring back the original attraction, im not sure...Disney has never done something like that before, and when they renovated Journey into Your Imagination the second time(the one with just Nigel Channing, not Dreamfinder or Figment) they were changing it due to the same criticism as i talked about before, only much heavier because it didnt have Figment. If Disney were to change it back to the original attraction, they would have done it a long time ago. Sorry Figment fans, the future looks bleak.
figmentisback 05-27-2006, 05:58 PM Rumor states that John Lasider(AP?) was in imagineering and saw the orignal attraction... and got imagineers on the project.. bring back some of the classic imagineers to work on the project... moments later he added more stuff to DL's Nemo submerine attraction design...(he is pixar you know.. lol)
there is a chance... the original track which was covered by the New Imageworks still exists under the flooring.. (walk carefully and you might hear a hallow area under the floor..)
the pavilion is still open but might close next fiscal year and reopen in time for october 1, 2007 the day Epcot celebrates it's 25th anniversary. (as well as starting a new celebration for WDW... maybe 25 years of discovering, 25 years of international fun?)
Middiebear 05-27-2006, 06:16 PM I went on "Journey Into Your Imagination" for the first time in early April '06...
I really don't know where all the criticism comes from... Granted, I have never been on the original, but this "new" version is not bad at all... It's really like any other dark ride you would find at Disney... I would even go on it again...
But if it will make more Disney visitors happy, I think any change will be for the better...
BTW: I really like "Honey I Shrunk the Audience" in Epcot... I think it's the best 3D show in all of Orlando...
figmentisback 05-27-2006, 06:26 PM The current Journey into imagination never has lines... the queue is long yet never is used.. lol
The original had long lines... and if you take a veriation of the original and upgrade it's tech.. imagine what you might get for this Kodak Sponsored pavilion...
Honey was a great 3-d attraction.. but times have changed.. it was based on symergy from the franchise.. at Disneyland it never has a line except for hot hot days or days when there is nothing else to go on.. lol
at Epcot it has a line cause people have a FP for soarin for 2 hours later and want to do something.. and already got off of imagination.. lol
the attraction is dating itself slowly..
(imagine if kodak paid to update puppet vision 3-D's theater with new seats... it would be the best show..)

Well, let's put it this way: The one STINKS compared to the old one. Most of it is cheap screenwork that doesn't look realistic at all. And a lot of those Figment animatronics? You can see their speakers, clearly RIGHT ABOVE THEM! Plus, then there's that last scene... you can clearly see strings and wires holding it all together, and most of it is stationary. A rather boring and unimaginative (pun intended) ride. Bring back the original with Dreamfinder.

NaviMap 05-27-2006, 07:04 PM The original was cute and was full of color and ... imagination, lol. Any child would've definitely enjoyed the old on, its colorful & fantasy-like scenes I enjoyed as a child. This newer version was a huge disappointment because it felt like I was being given a tour of a dreary lab. Honey was a great 3-d attraction.. but times have changed.. it was based on symergy from the franchise.. at Disneyland it never has a line except for hot hot days or days when there is nothing else to go on.. lolNope, never has a line, even on the hottest and busiest days (even if Space Mountain next door has a wait over 2 hrs).

That's sad to hear because it really is a GREAT 3D attraction...
BTW: Epcot's "Honey I Shrunk the Audience" is a Fastpass attraction... There still must be some life left in the Walt Disney World version...

it's a FP attraction for all those Surprise FPs mission space gives for it.. TT switches reguarly between Misison space and Honey surprise FPs... Thats how bad it's getting here too... (and with the new Green line for MS.. Honey might get more surprise FPs)

I can see why. Now the ride stinks, nobody rides it anymore! the old one rocked and MANY MANY MANY people loved it. Bring back the old ride!
Oranges 05-27-2006, 09:35 PM No more "Honey, I Shrunk The Audiene"? WHAT!? Aww man! I liked that show. I used to always ride it to see people's reactions.
