I've decided to start a common scams thread about what scams are out there, and how you can avoid scams.
Scams Out There:
A common scam is when the player says they are having trouble accepting, and tell you to accept. Then they don't give you the item you originally set up the trade for.
Another scam is when the player says they can't put the item in(when the item is tradeable), and ask you to accept. It's like the one above, just with the twist of them not being "able" to put in the item.
A scam that's also out there is when they say they will give codes to you(ie: Explorer's Tent Room) for items. Obviously.. read below ;)
How To Avoid Scams:
-If the player says they cannot put the item in and ask you to accept, don't accept, walk away.
-Same as the one above, if they tell you they cannot accept, and ask you to accept before they put the item in.. walk away.
-If you don't know someone well enough to trust them with codes and trading, then don't trade codes.. fair and simple. Besides, unless you know how to contact them off of VMK, then how are they going to give you the code on VMK? You cannot type codes, so make sure that you have contacted them before off of VMK.
Scam Tips
-If the trade is too good to be true.. it probably is ;)
-As I said above, in trading codes.. It's most wise to give out the code to the person your trading with first, then they give you the items you and that player agreed on. But here's the thing.. they could walk away with the code, and never trade with you, or you could get the furniture/pins/w/e that you get from them, and walk away without giving them the code. So as I said before.. It's best to make sure you know the person you're trading with well enough to trade codes.
-Make sure you have reviewed the items you and the other player put in the trade, and make sure that the both of you have put in the items you agreed on.
-If it seems like a scam, walk away, it's best to walk away just incase!
How Can I Help?
If anyone has more scam tips, scams out there, or more help on avoiding scams, please post. Thanks :)
Thanks for reading, I'm already procrastinating and I'll never get my homework done, bye!
