Proluge
"If you care so much, why don't you just run away again!" Dina shouted, as she slammed the jeep-door.
"I don't want to run away! I need to be somewhere safe!" I choked out, through tears.
Dina rolled down the windows,"Well, running away, isn't gonna help you! You hate me, when I help you! So, why should I even try!"
She pulled away, and I was left in the rain. Soaking wet. With, that thing still out there. Free. Ready to catch me, and take my life away. But nobody would listen.
Chapter 1
Sermanstown is a boring place. Its just full of woods, and cabins.
I lived on Sermanstown with my foster-mother, Dina Lakes.
Right now, I was sitting on the window-sill, watching rain drop down.
Every little scurry from an animal would interest me. It was better than being upstairs and watching Dina do her hair.
"Jean-Marie! Go inside the jeep, right now! I'll be coming out in a sec'!" She yelled with her western accent.
I pulled on my jacket, and sandels and ran outside in the rain, pushing the key inside the key-hole.
I turned on the heat in the car, and continued to watch anything, that appeared in the window.
I could see, little animals, hiding from the rain.
But, there was one animal that wasn't. It crept closer to the door.
"Huh?" I said, as I locked the doors, with fear.
I could hear banging at the back of the car. I could see Dina knocking on the door. The creature wasn't in her view, so she couldn't see him.
"Dina! Get in!" I shouted, as I opened the door.
She got in the drivers seat, and locked the door.
She looked puzzled, as I pointed to the animal.
She shrugged it off, "Just a bush.."
The creature slammed my side of the car, and glass poured through.
--
I awoke with lights over my head. I knew where I was. The hospital.
"Where's Dina? Did you see that animal?" I asked a million questions.
The doctor chuckled, "Dina'll be alright. She's waiting for you, in another room. She has to get stitches, but not as much as you. And, as for the animal thing, I'm sure you just had a car coming at you. It was probably a hit and run"
I knew it wasn't a car! It couldn't be! It was dark, and had eyes the size of an owl! How could it be a car!
"Let's let you rest a little," The nurse said, as she pulled a blanket over me.
As soon as each nurse left, I pulled out of the blanket, and put my jacket on. I grabbed an umbrella that was left on the garbage basket, and ran out of the hospital, hiding behind visitors.
"I'm out!" I yelled, as I jumped up and down.
All, I needed was proof that that was an animal.
I ran back home, and found my camera, ready to go.
I walked outside, carefully and looked for the animal.
It was crouching behind a rabbit. I could tell.
It was furry, had red eyes and had teeth like hammers.
I took the picture carefully, and tried to run inside the house.
As soon as I got close to the door, I tripped.
I could feel breath behind me.
