Will this reduce the queue size? Or do we still have to wait through the entire queue before choosing which version we want to ride?

Hmm, interesting, but I'm not exactly sure it was needed. Sure there were a few deaths, people just gotta read the warnings and what not that's all. But ok, if it reduces waiting in line. But if it doesn't, well, that was a bit of a waste of money...

You probably just watch the video and don't move at all.

I think this is a great idea! Personally, everytime I get off it I feel really sick and dizzy. I mean, I'll still go on the origional one because I know that I can handle rides like that (and I love thrill rides so much!) but for people who can't its a better alternative than not riding at all. And if you're not sure about riding it, you could ride the not as intense one and if you like it you could try the origional.

The Orlando sentinel article said this:

The new version of the space simulator at Epcot eliminates the centrifuge element of the attraction, lessening the G-forces on the body, but still pitches riders forward and backward, shakes and combines audio and video virtual-reality effects.

There you have it...
I believe they have a plan to have 2 stationary, and 2 full operation.. with the option of having on stationary flipped to rotating or turned off depending on the demand as well.

But how does it affect the queues? It there a separate queue for each version of the ride, or do we all have to wait together in one long line?

My family and I tried it today, and I must say that I think this is their solution to the problems--if people use good common sense. Right before you enter the building, there is a sign that describes each of the teams: Orange and Green. They will ask you if you want spinning or no spinning. They'll hand you a "trainee pass" that's either green or orange and you'll follow the line that is the same color as your ticket. The used-to-be Single Rider line is now the Green path and the used-to-be Standby Line is the Orange Team. Generally, the Green Line is usually shorter than the Orange. You are not allowed to swap tickets once you enter the building.

If you choose the new mild addition, they completely remove all of the warnings that suggest that people with a fear of spinning should not ride. The only warnings the post are dark enclosed spaces and simulators. They no longer command you to stare at the screen. You can look around the pod without any trouble. Sure, you are still "on your back" when you launch into space, but you feel no sensation during the process. In fact, you feel no sensation the entire ride (except for the basic right, left, back, forth motion--that hasn't gone away).

A few Cast Members asked us how we liked it and they told us that if any more problems arouse from the spinning part of the ride, they may just make the whole ride non-spinning altogether.

I'm glad the made a tamer version of it but I'd go for every thing. Spinning, G-Forces, all that. But there are signs that tell you "Don't ride this ride if you have this, this and this". It wasn't Disney's falt that the lady died.

Here's a combination of two posts of mine:

I'll make this relatively brief:

Everyone keeps wondering why changes are being made. You may not have a problem with it, but other people do! Two deaths in a rather small amount of time is huge! That's two more deaths than they should have had in the first place.

A lot of people keep saying "OMG THERE'S NO POINT IN CHANGING IT", but there is a point. You're not looking at what Disney is looking at. All you people who say this haven't gotten sick. The fact of the matter is that Mission: SPACE is a very intense ride, and it's potentially dangerous if not taken seriously. More deaths on the spinning side of the ride could mean disaster for Disney. There reputation will plummet. They will be branded with the "dangerous park" title, and that's not good. You are also going to badger me with the "there's signs that warn you" and all of that, but do people really listen to it? They think they're so confident and all this nonsense, and look where it lands them. They'll still take the Orange line regardless of the warnings. Despite all of the cautions, never once do they prepare you for what you're about to experience. Changing the entire ride completely is more of a benefit than a downfall. It may not be beneficial to you, but in the long run, it could be saving lives in all actuality.

Yes, plenty of people do go on it without problem, but yet, some people DO get on it and DO have problems. You may think only two deaths isn't much, but to Disney, it's two more than they should have had in the first place.

Getting hurt on the ride is the rider's fault yes, and the family of the hurt person can't file any lawsuits, but what reputation does that give Disney? They have no sympathy for the rider, but they have sympathy for themselves. A lot of people blame the ride for all the issues, and that really hurts them financially. People may just stay away from the ride altogether, and if that happens, they may have to get rid of it. Now, I know people are going to holler at me about "oh that will never happen", but if the ride gets more deaths, Disney's reputation goes in the toilet. That's why the removal of the spinning in the ride is questionable. It's not for the rider's sake. It's for the company's.
