View Full Version : Say Goodnight, Gracie...
JasonDude 05-19-2006, 11:21 PM Is anyone else here a Will & Grace fan? And if so, did you watch the series finale?
I thought it was really neat! Different from what I expected, and an unusal way to go for the show.
Other thoughts? :)

Neoteny 05-20-2006, 04:38 AM So what happened?
FantasyKeith 05-20-2006, 05:34 AM Finale actually spanned like 20 years of time.

Neoteny 05-20-2006, 11:57 AM i think the finale was really good, it kind of fit....but i won't say anything for the ppl who haven't seen it
What if the people who haven't seen it (such as I) want you to tell us what happened?
By the way, the series finale of That '70s Show was very disappointing.
clydeguy 05-20-2006, 12:22 PM I saw the finale, and I TiVo-ed it!
It was awesome, just how a show should end.
Neoteny 05-20-2006, 12:24 PM But what happened?
JasonDude 05-20-2006, 04:47 PM Okay, I'll tell you what happened! :D
Grace and Will decided to raise the baby together, but like a week later Will went to do laundry and Leo showed up at the apartment. Grace showed him that she was pregnant and they decided to stay together. The last shot we saw was Will coming out of the elevator before the screen went dark and showed the words "two years later..."
Two years later, Will and Vince are living together, and they have adopted a son named Ben. Grace and Leo are remarried, and Grace had her baby, a girl named Lyla. But Will and Grace hadn't spoken to each other since practically when Leo returned - Will was mad at her for going back on her promise, and Grace was mad at him for not forgiving her. Vince and Leo kept nudging their partners to call each other, but they refused.
Jack and Karen have been thinking of ways to get Will & Grace back together, and eventually come up with a plan involving a guy in a full body cast at a hospital. So Will and Grace run into each other in a hospital, thinking this person in a body cast is either Karen or Jack, and make up. They go back to Will's apartment and Will, Grace, Karen and Jack spend some quality time together.
Will and Grace really want to get together again, but their plans just seem to never work. They both talk about how they always said their destinies are intertwined to their respective partners, but they think that maybe they were never supposed to be in each other's lives forever.
Karen, meanwhile, finds out that she has lost all her money that she thought she had gotten in a divorce settlement. Beverly Leslie offers Jack a...'job'...in exchange for all of his fortune. Karen convinces Jack to take it, even though Jack despises Beverly, and some time later Karen realizes that Jack is unhappy and that Jack is more important to her than money. They go to tell Beverly, but they just missed him - he's off looking for Jack. He checks his apartment's balcony and is blown right off of it!
Incidentally, Beverly had just left his entire estate to Jack, in case anything happened to him......
We next see two college kids moving in to their apartments. One, a male, has brown hair and is kind of tan, and the other, a girl, has red hair that's kind of curly. They have an awkward introduction, each explaining a personal item (the man has a temprapedic pillow, the girl has a box of...well...yeah...), and formally introduce.
The guy's name is Ben.
The girl's name is Lyla.
Even though Lyla's mother is coming with stuff, as is Ben's dad, they decide to ditch them to grab some food.
And minutes later, two people with boxes show up at Ben's and Lyla's dorm rooms...Will and Grace.
They've both aged considerably - 20 years have passed - but they're happy to see each other.
Meanwhile, Jack and Karen have been living together for those 20 years. Jack has aged gracefully, while Karen...well, has stayed exactly the same, of course :). They sing a song together ("Unforgettable") as their sort of special farewell.
More time passes, and we see Will and Grace talking on the phone. It turns out Ben and Lyla are getting married. Will wants to meet Grace, as well as Jack and Karen, at a bar and get together. The four do so, and realize that they all haven't changed a bit.
We suddenly see them as we know them today, as if they've suddenly gotten 20 years younger. They toast, and that's pretty much how it ends.
It was a very cool episode.
Neoteny 05-20-2006, 04:52 PM Thanks for the recap. Sounds like a good finale. Unlike that garbage on That '70s Show. I'll have to try to catch the repeat.
JasonDude 05-20-2006, 05:20 PM Like I mentioned earlier, there will be a DVD of the finale available on May 30th! :)
Neoteny 05-20-2006, 05:49 PM Yeah, but it'll probably be repeated on NBC sometime this summer, no?
JasonDude 05-20-2006, 07:05 PM I doubt it...maybe...
Did they do the same thing with "Friends" and "Fraser"?
Neoteny 05-26-2006, 05:58 PM Turns out NBC just repeated the finale last night, so I got to watch it. Very well done.
