View Full Version : Pirates Information:Confirmations and Rumors
Miguzi.Man 05-17-2006, 12:31 AM A few of the facts I am about to post people might know. I was just talking with a friend who works in Disney and has given me some confirmations of a few things that have to do with pirates. Some information may not reguard VMK.
Confirmed Facts:
*The Pirates of the Caribbean ride will re-open June 27th along with The Blue Bayou. Besides Adding characters and new sets to the Pirates ride, most of the original ride will still be there.
*(real life)Tom Sawyer Island will be closed for the premier of the Pirates movie. They will be playing the movie on a large screen placed on (real life)Tom Sawyer Island. Specific dates have not yet been confirmed.
*With the opening of the Pirates ride and movie, VMK will be releasing a special all new Pirates Quest that will take you on a journey throughout the Disney park. During this time VMK will also releasing a new mini-game that will award special magic used for finding items hidden in parts of VMK. (aka. Treasure Finding Magic) .
Not Yet Confirmed Rumors:
*Costume Rumors:
Rumor 1: Jack Sparrow Costume will only be available by doing a pirates Quest at Disneyland. That the Davy Jones costume will be available by purchasing tickets to the new movie Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest.
Rumor 2: That there will be two different in park quests. One available only at Disneyland and another at Disney World. One having Jack Sparrow costume, and the other having the Davy Jones costume.
This topic was not made to be slammed with statements such as "That's totally a Lie!" . Some of you may already know about the confirmed stuff or otherwise but this is meant for those who don't know. What was confirmed is true and I definately had no intention to start a debate. Information brought to you by Disneyland Cast Members and Sections of Summer 06 edition of Backstage Pass.
manunderwater 05-17-2006, 12:37 AM wow thanks for the info! I can't wait for the big screen
gigarichard 05-17-2006, 12:38 AM I never knew about the Tom Sawyer room one
Miguzi.Man 05-17-2006, 12:40 AM I didn't say anything about a Tom Sawyer room. Maybe I should clear that up... I mean they will be playing the movie on the real life Tom Sawyer island. Not the room in the game
Oranges 05-17-2006, 12:50 AM June 27th? There've been many advertisements that tell you it will open July 7th, the same day as the movie.
gigarichard 05-17-2006, 01:09 AM I didn't say anything about a Tom Sawyer room. Maybe I should clear that up... I mean they will be playing the movie on the real life Tom Sawyer island. Not the room in the game
oh okay that still cool cause I'll be in Disney then
manunderwater 05-17-2006, 01:16 AM It's going to open earlier than the movie. I overheard an Imagineer in DL.
Miguzi.Man 05-17-2006, 01:19 AM My guess is that they will play it on TSI every other night at 8:00 once it is released in theaters.
ChrisR 05-17-2006, 01:21 AM heh. mini game huh?
pirates of the carribean 2: dead mans chest: the game.
Smoop 05-17-2006, 01:24 AM Time to squash some rumors... the "World Premiere" of the pirates movie is going to be at Disneyland on June 24th. The pirates ride is scheduled to be up and running again (testing out the new enhancements) well before then. Yes, Tom Sawyer Island will be closed because of the movie screening. As for the VMK stuff... say, have you got the baseball costume yet? ;)
Miguzi.Man 05-17-2006, 01:29 AM yes I have (friend buys me everything that comes out in case I ever get unbanned)
TheCoasterNut 05-17-2006, 03:37 PM My guess is that they will play it on TSI every other night at 8:00 once it is released in theaters.
The world premire of POTC will be at DL, just like last time. They will soon erect large bleachers that will seat all those who attend the movie premiere. This is a special, private, event. If you are not invited, then you aren't going. They will only play the movie for those in attendance for the premiere, everyone else will be kept out of that portion of the park.
matterhornmaniac 05-17-2006, 05:40 PM everyone else will be kept out of that portion of the park.
that won't be too hard considering they're closing the park early that day. i want to say 6pm, but don't quote me on that. all i know is i get off early and feel sorry for the poor suckers in special events.
Mariposa79 05-17-2006, 07:15 PM *(real life)Tom Sawyer Island will be closed for the premier of the Pirates movie. They will be playing the movie on a large screen placed on (real life)Tom Sawyer Island. Specific dates have not yet been confirmed.
I was there when they did it for the first movie. It was so cool and so private! It was totally insane!
figmentisback 05-17-2006, 09:59 PM Some of us have a feeeling we know...
lets review dats of closures...
Disneyland Park opens and closes early: June 24, 2006,
Fantasmic! dark: June 17 - June 28, 2006
Parade of Dreams dark: June 24, 2006
So lets say this:
Prirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest Movie Premier. June 24.
matterhornmaniac 05-17-2006, 10:47 PM Captain Jack Sparrow to Join 'Pirates of the Caribbean' Attraction
Pirates of the Caribbean, the classic Disney theme park adventure brought to the big screen in Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl, is adding new characters and features from the blockbuster film franchise.
Both Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resort will close the attraction to complete the updates in time for the opening of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest on July 7. The attraction will close March 6 at Disneyland and reopen June 24. It will close March 1 in Florida's Magic Kingdom and reopen July 7.
When it reopens, the attraction will feature two of Hollywood's most infamous scalawags, Captain Jack Sparrow and his cursed nemesis, Captain Barbossa. The duo will add an exciting new twist to the attraction's original storyline as they race to be the first to claim a cache of plundered treasure.
"Successfully adding the popular characters from the Pirates of the Caribbean films with the mythology of our classic attraction is an example of Disney synergy and Walt Disney Imagineering at its finest," say Jay Rasulo, chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts. "These additions will result in an exciting new chapter for the attraction and an unforgettable experience for our guests, giving them another reason to come and be a part of our continuing 50th anniversary celebration."
Woven into some of the attraction's most memorable scenes, the rival swashbucklers will be seen interacting with some of the more familiar Audio-Animatronics® buccaneers found inside the ride-through adventure. Also making a guest appearance is the ghostly Davy Jones from the second movie in the series, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest. But new characters are only the beginning. New special effects will also be added.
"The creative legacy of Pirates of the Caribbean has come full circle with the attraction initially inspiring our highly successful film franchise and now the films inspiring exciting additions to the attraction itself," says **** Cook, chairman of The Walt Disney Studios. "The attraction captures the same spirit, swashbuckling humor and action that moviegoers loved in the first Pirates of the Caribbean, which will continue with the highly anticipated new tales this summer and beyond."
Created under the direct creative supervision of Walt Disney himself, Pirates of the Caribbean premiered in 1967 at Disneyland and in 1973 at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom. The attraction's jaunty theme song, "Yo Ho (A Pirate's Life for Me)," sets the show's light tone with its tongue-in-cheek depiction of high-seas lawlessness.
^this was from from the cast portal. i mainly posted it for the dates of the rides' openings: June 24th (DLR) and July 7th (MK). just to add to figments argument (even though he doesn't have to argue too hard since its true) that the premiere will be the 24th, it has been said that the ride will premiere with the movie
matterhornmaniac 05-17-2006, 10:48 PM Here's some more though its basically saying the same thing:
New Characters Set Sail for Classic Attraction
As if there weren't enough suspicious-looking privateers and buccaneers ensconced in the Pirates of the Caribbean attractions at the Disneyland Resort (DLR) and Walt Disney World Resort (WDW), more will soon be coming on board.
Beginning March 1 at WDW, and March 6 at DLR, the popular attractions will be closed to guests while Captain Jack Sparrow and his nemesis, Barbossa, take up residence alongside the existing Audio-Animatronics® characters.
"The creative legacy of Pirates of the Caribbean has come full circle, with the attraction initially inspiring our highly successful film franchise, and now the films inspiring exciting additions to the attraction itself," says **** Cook, chairman of The Walt Disney Studios.
Also making a guest appearance in the updated attractions is the ghostly Davy Jones from the upcoming sequel, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest. But new characters are only the beginning. Although the attractions will retain all of their well-known elements, new special effects and audio will be added to enhance the experience.
"Enhancing the classic Pirates attractions with new characters and new technology will ensure their relevance and place in Disney theme parks as timeless adventures," says Tom Fitzgerald, senior creative executive for Walt Disney Imagineering. "We're adding a layer of storytelling from the films to the attractions while retaining all the familiar elements that make it vibrant and exciting for every age group."
The last attraction created under the direct supervision of Walt Disney himself, Pirates of the Caribbean is a swashbuckling adventure that has entertained more than 500 million Theme Park guests since it premiered at Disneyland in 1967 and at the WDW Magic Kingdom in 1973.
"Successfully adding the popular characters from the Pirates of the Caribbean films with the mythology of our classic attraction is an example of Disney synergy and Walt Disney Imagineering at its finest," says Jay Rasulo, chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts. "These additions will result in an exciting new chapter for the attraction and an unforgettable experience for our guests."
The Pirates of the Caribbean attractions will re-open to guests at Disneyland on June 24, and at the WDW Magic Kindgom on July 7, in time for the July 7 opening of the film, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest.
tina_als_girl 05-18-2006, 12:59 AM The park opens at 6:30am on Saturday, June 24. It closes at 5pm. At 5pm, ALL visitors must leave the park. Only people who received the direct invitations from Disney will be allowed to stay for the premiere events (ERT on several rides, seeing the movie, after-party, etc.). And direct invitations are about 99.99% impossible to come by.
Joy

Unless you're a celebrity or part of the pirate movie cast. Just make sure you have a camera ready, because on June 24th, you don't know WHO you might see at the park. Woot!
fantasyphillip 05-18-2006, 01:05 AM wow that sounds so cool thanks

I remember when they did that with the first movie. I also think they close the park earlier so the premeire can take place privatley. I also heard people going to that preview also get Disneyland to themselves for the night.
warioguy 05-20-2006, 09:37 PM Wow, Treasure Seeker will come out in a pirates game!? That rules! Thanks for the info, I thought it would be in the new pirate quest or something...
figmentisback 05-20-2006, 10:00 PM DL is reported to have water in the trough.... no word on the boats yet... it was presumed they left the boats in the trough except a few which would be fixed up... more news when it comes in... this is Figment reporting.
TheCoasterNut 05-21-2006, 05:15 PM Yes, the trough is full of water, and no there aren't any boats in it right now. The water is dripping through the ceiling down onto the DECK again. ( So the trough definitely has water) And I also saw almost all of the boats backstage. Most of them were having work done, but many were just waiting there to be put back in the ride.
WDWgirl 05-22-2006, 12:42 AM WAIT A MINUTE!! does the premire is held at WDW's Tom Sawyers?
