View Full Version : VMK Quest Report - I completed all three quests! (56K beware)

I found out today that the Virtual Magic Kingdom quests started today! My wife and I left work and immediately headed over to the Magic Kingdom to do all three quests.

We found that the three quests are 9 questions each and are for Fantasyland, Frontierland, and Adventureland. They come on these nifty park map-sized cards. Each question is multiple choice where you scratch off the answer that you think is correct. The answers are found on signs and such around the lands and attractions. There are 3 easy, 3 medium, and 3 hard questions. The difficulty is based on the fact that the easy questions have 2 answer choices, the medium have 3, and the hard have 4 choices.

You can see pictures of the quest question cards below.

It took us about 2 hours to complete all three quests. Once finished, we took the completed cards to VMK central (Main Street Cinema) where the CM checked them over. We got every question correct! There were only a couple that were iffy.

Once the CM told us that they were all correct, we received our 9 quest cards for items in the game. We also each received a VMK glow-in-the-dark wristband containing a code on the inside. This code gives us a special VMK shirt in the game.

The codes found on the quest cards are all unique and can be used only once. However, the code found on the wristbands is the same on all the bands... I'm not going to give it to you though! ;)

You can find pictures of all of the quest cards (front and back) as well as the wristband below. I blurred out the quest card codes because I haven't used them yet.

So it appears that each quest will give you three items for the game... and there are 30 items to be won.

I was also told that the free VMK tours will begin next month with the official launch of the game. You will complete all of the quests and get a free tour that happens twice a day. Each tour will consist of 20 people. On that tour, you will actually go on a quest to earn even more items. I can only assume that there will be 9 individual quests total for 27 items won... and then 3 more items that you win on the tour itself.

You can only go back and submit your completed quest cards once per 30 days, but you can grab as many cards as you want. They all have the same questions. You can also only get 1 wristband per person per 30 days. They control this by scanning your park ticket when you redeem your cards for goods.

The quests were fun and I can't wait for more. By the way, if you want to hear me talk about these quests, please do stop by my podcast, Inside the Magic, this coming Sunday. I will go into detail about everything that we did and what was the most difficult. You can visit my podcast at: http://www.distantcreations.com/insidethemagic

I did the Quests today as well :) they were pretty cool, some hard questions, but while I was in the Cinema I met up with another VMK person and he and I went off to find all the answers :) I was surprised at what nice quality the quest pamphlets were and how nice the trading cards were that you receive with the codes on them. I didn’t expect anything that nice for free, and I’m wearing my wristband right now! LOL :) We also met Yavn and another member of the VMK team, it sounds like the quests are going to be even better as soon as they officially launch them. They said something about after completing the quest there being a tour where you could earn more virtual stuff and possibly magic. Woot! I can't wait for July to come!

Edited to answer Sora :
I asked Yavn when i saw him today, and he said that currently the quests and prizes are the same at WDW and DLR but that they may change that later on.

Can you PM me the adventureland pin code and the wristband code? the others I can buy on my own/ don't need. My family is driving into poverty and we can't afford to go to WDW, let alone go to florida.

I'd like the exclusive shirt and pin. i'll post back to see if i can get the adventureland pin and then you can only pm me the wristband code. please! I may never get this chance again!

Out of the ones you listed (including the new sword in stone) only 1 code he could give you would work. The codes on the back of quest cards can only be used once in the entire game. Then no one else can use them :) Glad i could help :)

That's correct. Only the wristband code can be used more than once. I would post it, but I don't want to be banned from VMK for distributing codes. Their policy seems pretty strict.

Hi there. Whutty here. Went to WDW today to try my hand at the quests. It's amazing how many Cast Members have absolutely no clue what the VMK is. You would think corporate would do more to educate their CMs on these kind of things--especially with guests walking up every five minutes asking questions.

These were fun. Really fun. I've always though of myself as Disney-savvy, but some of the questions were so tough it had me second-guessing myself a couple of times, even on the easier questions.

For example, if you look at the pictures ricky posted (thank goodness I don't have to do it), question 9 in the Adventureland quest has got to be the most mind-numbing question in the entire land--and not in regard to the math involved. Try and figure that one out--and shame on anyone who says anything about it.

Frontierland was a little easier, but questions 6 and 9 will have you scratching your head. If you can find one, however, you'll probably have an idea of where to find the other.

Fantasyland is by far the most unfair of the quests. The Level 3 questions are naturally tough, but question 5 about chimneys on Pinocchio's Village Haus tripped me up. It's hard to tell what is and isn't a chimney. As a rule of thumb, if it looks remotely like a chimney, it probably is.

Considering the target audience, these are really tough questions!

I got my nine prize cards and my VMK glow in the dark bracelet. It snapped when I tried to put it on. I'm disappointed. I guess I just have big hands. If there is any trusting soul who would PM me the code on the inside of the bracelet, please do so. I feel so cheated.

Next trip I make I'll take a camera. Actually, the crowds weren't too bad today. They were about decent size. Course, I was there right at 9 and out by noon. A lot of people took off, beat by the heat. It's very warm right now, folks.

We did all 3 quests last week. We even got to talk to some of the creators of VMK. They asked a lot of questions on how we liked the game and what kind of problems we had. They seem to be well aware of them and are working on them. I have been told the only trading card you can not get at WDW is the first card...Magic Mirror. They say the only way to get that one is to buy something from the magic shop in Disneyland. I have a informed a friend of mine that works out there he has to get me that card lol. The gold mickey ears are supposed to be available tomorrow. If I get a chance I will pop in there on my lunch hour to see if I can get one.

I played the quests at Disneyland today. Right now it's only Adventureland and Frontierland, and we only need 6 questions (the quest booklets look the same, except for the different questions) to answer! I got 100% on both and got my wristband, and got the six items. I think they should start the Tomorrowland quests, because there are already Tomorrowland items sold in VMK. Frontierland's not even open, but there's a quest for it. Maybe they're waiting for Space Mountain to open. :)

Our family went yesterday to do the quests. We were at MK for 4 hours, but we also added in a few rides for the kids and ate lunch as well. There were a couple tricky questions. We had alot of fun and can not wait for next month. :) We got 100% on all of them so we got the wrist bands; however, we can not make out the codes on the back. :(

I was told yesterday that the quests had started in Disneyland but they only have two.

We go later this week to get our golden ears. :D

As MouseStreet mentioned, the VMK quests are already at Disneyland. Take a look:

http://i13.****************/albums/a286/GreatGatsbyVMK/VMK%20at%20DLR/03VMKBrochures.jpg

Here are the card prizes and the bracelets:

Here's some cards not yet available -- but interested me:

There are two rooms inside Innoventions set up for VMK. The first one is the Western Room:

http://i13.****************/albums/a286/GreatGatsbyVMK/VMK%20at%20DLR/09VMKWesternRoom.jpg http://i13.****************/albums/a286/GreatGatsbyVMK/VMK%20at%20DLR/08VMKBullseye.jpg

The other is the Cave Room:

We played both quests and won them. Our prizes were the Ace of Spades rug, the Cactus Chair, the Saddle Sofa, an Adventureland Retro Pin, a Carpet Chair, and the Explorer's Suitcase Chair. We have not used the bracelets yet, so I can't confirm whether it's a VMK shirt as reported before.

They told us there will be another quest added in July.

The Bracelet Code is the same for ALL bracelets. And the reward is indeed the VMK T-Shirt and 0 credits. I thought it was funny how every code entry from the Bracelet and the Cards said 0 credits and the item you won.

Anyways, I got two and both were double stamped and almost impossible to read. So I went back to VMK Central and talked to a cast member and she gave me the code. She already had it written down to give out because of numerous complaints of it being hard to read. I am surprised the code isnt circulating already. I am sure soon everyone will have a VMK T-Shirt regardless if they have gone to the parks and done the quests yet.

I thought the quests were indeed fun (at WDW), only 1 question seemed iffy or even unfair, the Pinocchios Village Haus Chimney count. But I got all questions right the first time and some of the difficult ones were cool once you figured it out. My favorite was the 'SHIPS on Zanzibar seas' on the last question for Adventureland.

Disneyland is also going to get a totally different Fantasyland card from what I've been thinking.

I mean, those questions on the WDW one require you to check out the castle murals at one point. DLR's castle hasn't been open to the public since who-knows-when (however the exit door is stil visible in Fantasyland).

It's only been a couple of years. I've heard they're deciding what to do with the Sleeping Beauty walk-though they had. It's falling apart right now, so they need to do a complete overhaul.

But yes, the quest will be different. The two Fantasylands are very different, and I think the DRL Fantasyland is a little bigger and much better than the WDW one -- which is kind of unusual.

My source says that line was a Cynthia Harris excuse for not spending the money and that things are very different with Matt Ouimet now in charge.

BTW did you know Disneyland had the Main Street Rail Road Station designated as an Historical Monument so they did not have to put in wheelchair ramps?

verrry sneaky way of avoiding a major overhaul. really though the ramps would ruin the design of the main street station.

wonder if they may try the same thing with the castle? :)

I bet by next month, we will see eBay sellers selling stuff for VMK. However because codes are intangible goods, I doubt they will risk just selling the codes. We might see some selling the cards and wristband and mailing them to you.
I agree with you -- it's probably only a matter of time before some eBay sellers try this.

But, not that it would be at all enforcable (sp?), but note that in the codes of conduct on the VMK main site, that selling objects or characters is expressly forbidden.

Just wanted to let everyone know the fantasyland quests are out at DISNEYLAND, i went yesterday and did it. its still 6 questions, still the same prizes as WDW. Also they gave me a little booklet detailing the new vmk stuff and basically those 6 "special" cards can only be recieved when you purchase merch, hence when you purchase a hat your character gets one too.

When I was there a on monday the 20th of June, behind all the computers was a glass case with all the trading cards that could be won (each trading card has an image on it with a code, the image is an item, enter the code and recieve the item) I don't remember how many cards there were, but there were a ton of cards.

Sorry you also refused to SCAN the seven pages, or you would have seen all the lovely pictures of the cards that everyone else saw.

My wife and I just got back from Disney World today (6/26/05). I stopped by VMK central, and talked with a cast member named Jessica (who said she was one of the first people to play VMK). I picked up the quests and we went through them. I agree that question 5 (Pinocchio's Haus) in the Fantasyland Quest is crazy. I couldn't tell what was a chimney, and ended up asking at cast member. She told me firmly two, which ended up being wrong! But I ended up with the correct answer, so in the end it all worked out. I noted that there was a good bit of VMK related stuff around in different places (especially Fronteirland), AND that the trade shops in Fronteirland had VMK cards for other in-game stuffs. However most cast members didn't quite understand how it all works. This actually leads to a couple of interesting points:
1) Many cast members are much more than willing to give you the answers to the questions in the quest, in fact many of them told me that it was nice to interact with the guests directly since their 'job' was pretty mindless.
2) Almost all instances of tradeshops needing you to purchase something before getting a card can be gotten around! Most cast members either weren't completely aware of the 'buy stuff in real life to get a card for virtual stuff' policy, or many of them really didn't care. A couple of cast members just handed me multiple cards, with a shrug and a smile.
3) VMK is a completely shamless plug to get you to buy stuff (or even just visit Disney) in real life. (duh!)

The cards with 'VMK' written around the outside as a border (the #/6 cards) come from trade shops, while the cards from the quests have no border and are numbered #/30 ... Also, when we were at VMK central to drop off our finished quests, I asked about the trade shops in Fronteirland. The cast member I talked to popped open a white folder and the first page listed all the shops that had VMK related stuff going on. It turns out that the 'T-shirt shop' in Fantasyland would give you a card for a special virtual T-shirt (if you purchased a real T-shirt), and The Chapeau would give you one for a special virtual hat (if you purchase a real one). Trying to weasle out a free card didn't work in these places, however... They seemed to have a good understanding of how everything was supposed to work! :)

Also, when we turned in our finished quests, we got another card (since we had "finished all three at once"). It was 30/30 the "VMK INsider Tour at Magic Kingdom Park"
The back says: "Get the inside scoop on the Disney's Virtual Magic Kingdom. The VMK Insider Tour connects the Virtual Kingdom with the MAGIC KINGDOM locations, attractions and characters that inspired the online game. Enjoy express boarding onto attractions and aswer trivia questions to win cool virtual prizes. Plus, learn the insider secrets of upcoming plans for VMK!"
The cast member who checked out our finished quests said that this tour was starting 'tomorrow' and I had to sign up for a time before I would be allowed to go.
Hmmm... I was on a one day pass! Luckily I'll be going back in a couple weeks (glad I have ParkHopper) so maybe... :)

I have a question someone might be able to help me with. What happens if you don't get 100% on the quest? Do you still get a wristband at least? LOL, really that's all I want. ;)

Here's what I learned yesterday while at Disneyland. This information is repeat, but I wanted to clearly lay it out so as to clear up any confusion.

There are 6 cards you can get by purchasing items at WDW and Disneyland.

1/6: Fantasyland Magic Mirror (only available at Disneyland)
2/6: Happiest Celebration on Earth Pin
3/6: Golden Mickey Ears
4/6: Retro Mickey T-Shirt
5/6: Disneyland Retro Penny Press
6/6: Wanted Poster (only available at WDW)

At Disneyland, here is how you get the cards:
1/6: Purchase any magic trick at the Main Street Magic Shop
2/6: Purchase any pin at the Astro Blasters store in Tomorrowland
3/6: Purchase gold mickey ears at any Disneyland hat shop except the one in the Star Trader
4/6: Purchase any T-shirt in the Star Trader in Tomorrowland
5/6: Purchase candy at the Pooh Corner Honey Spot in Critter Country
6/6: NOT available at Disneyland

The other cards (Labled 1/30-30/30) are quest cards, or are won on the VMK VIP Insider's Tour.

6/6: Wanted Poster (only available at WDW)
To get this, you need to buy an on-ride photo at Splash Mountain.

Zanzibar Sea. It is a referance to the small Aladdin area in Adventureland in WDW. The Zanzibar Sea is where the Arabian Coast is, I would think.

I asked Yavn when i saw him today, and he said that currently the quests and prizes are the same at WDW and DLR but that they may change that later on. do you know the awnsers
