Me and GreatGatsby are going to be updating this constantly. But we wanted to show you how VMK is alot like Disneyland and Walt Disney World. But doing this I am going to post what something looks like in VMK and GreatGatsby is going to post what it would look like at Disneyland or Walt Disneyworld so here are the first 2!

I will have the answers by tomorrow night. I want to point out we'll also be covering Disneyland Paris because there are sections of VMK that are based on that park too. We'll even throw in Tokyo if it fits!

Mr.Luniatix and I ask that everyone else hold off posting on this thread because it's a project we'll be working on for everyone. If you have a park photo close to one of the shots, private message one of us first before posting on your own.

Thanks Amigos and Amigettes!

Here's the first set of comparisons with Mr.Lunatix's VMK shots.

First Mickey

The flowery Mickey is in the front of every Magic Kingdom park. Here's one from WDW a few years back

Stay tuned for this. I am locating the DLR and DLP versions in my collection.

The Haunted Mansion room does not really compare, however, because there isn't a room like that in any of the attractions.

http://i13.****************/albums/a286/GreatGatsbyVMK/VMKHauntedMansionRoom.jpg

I think, however, it is a combination of two parts of the ride:

The graveyard as you enter it in the Doombuggy (both DLR and WDW -- DLP is different):

http://i13.****************/albums/a286/GreatGatsbyVMK/HauntedMansionGraveyard.jpg

And part of the WDW Haunted Mansion exterior. Note the atrium on the lower right:

I'm going to break this reply in two, since Mr.Lunatix has handed me two in one. I'll handle the castle first, then talk about the dungeon tomorrow.

http://i13.****************/albums/a286/GreatGatsbyVMK/VMKCastle.jpg

I have seen several guests on VMK ask about this castle. One noticed it looks different from the one in the VMK Castle Forecourt. Others do not recognize it as being from DLR or WDW.

It's not. It's the castle at Disneyland Paris.

http://i13.****************/albums/a286/GreatGatsbyVMK/DLPCastle1sml.jpg

Le Château de la Belle au Bois dormant, or Sleeping Beauty's castle to most of us.

Personally, I think it's the best of all four (current) castles. We'll see how Hong Kong turns out . . .

Also, notice how the trees in VMK are square? That's true of the trees by the castle in Paris as well.

If you want a small preview of tomorrow, the dungeon is just barely visible to the lower left of the castle under the rock face.

These are really cool! That is neat that you guys are spending this much time showing the comparisons! By the way I saw your room Mr.Lunatix, I want one! It was awesome!

I'm reposting this one from scratch because we are excited to add a special picture.

We now have four versions of this wonderful statue to share, which is called "Partners" BTW.

http://i6.****************/albums/y237/MrLunatix/Mickeyandwalt.jpg

First is in front of Sleeping Beauty's Castle at Disneyland

http://i13.****************/albums/a286/GreatGatsbyVMK/DLRWaltandMouse.jpg

Next is in front of Cinderella's Castle at WDW (thanks to Eddiebear for this photo!)

http://i13.****************/albums/a286/GreatGatsbyVMK/WDWWaltandMouse.jpg

Since our first post, Scott was kind enough to supply us with the statue in Tokyo Disneyland!

http://i13.****************/albums/a286/GreatGatsbyVMK/TDL_WaltandMouse.jpg

Finally we have the one in Paris, which is not in the Magic Kingdom, but at Walt Disney Studio.

As promised, time for the dungeon entrance.

http://i13.****************/albums/a286/GreatGatsbyVMK/VMKDungeon.jpg

Sorry to disappoint you all, but the real entrance, which is under the Le Château de la Belle au Bois Dormant in Disneyland Paris, looks nothing like the dragon's head in VMK.

http://i13.****************/albums/a286/GreatGatsbyVMK/DLPTaniereduDragonentrancesm.jpg

Still, if you're a fan of the horns, I'll give you the sign on the side of the entrance:

Next Up! The Dragon in well the Dungeon!

GreatGatsby

The dragon in, well, the Dungeon is also in, well, Disneyland Paris.

http://i13.****************/albums/a286/GreatGatsbyVMK/VMKDragoninner.jpg

When you walk to the side of the castle and into the rock entrance we showed you last time, you enter a dark cavern. In the middle, you find the dragon!

http://i13.****************/albums/a286/GreatGatsbyVMK/DLPDragon.jpg

Huge, chained to the wall, and audioanimatronic as well. Most of the time he's asleep, but he occasionally rouses, raises, looks around, breathes out smoke, then settles back down.

After a short break, I'm back to answering the Lunatix' photo questions.

This time it's the entrance to the pirate game from the Adventureland area:

http://i13.****************/albums/a286/GreatGatsbyVMK/VMKPirates.jpg

Once again we're in Disneyland Paris, with one of the most interesting and unique queues in any of the parks

http://i13.****************/albums/a286/GreatGatsbyVMK/DLPPiratesEntrance.jpg

The Pirates of the Carribean attraction at DLP is especially notable for two fascinating reasons. First, the dialogue is in French. Second, it contains a section where two of the audio-animatronic characters actually fence with swords! (OK, they're technically using foils, but not everyone knows what that means.)

For those of you who have complained lately that there's been too much Paris, your wish is my command:

http://i6.****************/albums/y237/MrLunatix/Ned.jpg

Ned is at Disneyland!

http://i13.****************/albums/a286/GreatGatsbyVMK/DLRNed.jpg

Ned is a card dispenser, much like Esmeralda . . . Oh, we've not covered her yet, huh? Mr L, is that going to be your next photo, by any chance?

http://i13.****************/albums/a286/GreatGatsbyVMK/DLRNedsplace.jpg

Anyway, put a 50 cents in and Ned talks to you and you get your fortune on a little card.

He's tucked away in the middle of the Adventureland Mercantile, across the street from the Jungle Cruise.

Esmeralda the fortune teller is a tradition at Disneyland.

http://i6.****************/albums/y237/MrLunatix/esmerelda.jpg

Not in the Emporium as she is in VMK, Esmeralda is at the very front of the Penny Arcade, as she has been for as long I can recall.

http://i13.****************/albums/a286/GreatGatsbyVMK/DLREsmeralda.jpg

I have been unable to find out how long she's been there, but I can tell you she was there in the early 1960's. It's even possible she's 50 years old herself.

She was removed during the start of Paul Pressler's unfortunate reign as president of Disneyland, but even he could not ignore the overwhelming surge of complaints about that act, so she was quickly returned.

The rest of the Penny Arcade did not fair so well. Once a showcase for antique games and movie viewers, it was turned into yet another shop -- something Pressler did as often as he could.

This very long delay was my fault this time. I made many promises to restart this thread, and I failed to each time. I'm sorry for being so slow on this.

MrLunatix last asked for the Matterhorn:
http://i6.****************/albums/y237/MrLunatix/Matterhorn1.jpg
Most of you should know by now this is only in Disneyland.
http://i13.****************/albums/a286/GreatGatsbyVMK/DLRMatterhorn.jpg

What many of you don't know is that the Matterhorn was the first tube rail-based rollercoaster in the world. Walt Disney had it developed by his imagineers especially to simulate the kinds of banks and turns that bobsleds do. Today's modern coaster has much to thank Walt for!

There is also a Basketball Court inside the Matterhorn!!
