K-I-D-S ... yeah!
The show consisted of a group of young teens (that occasionally shifted every few years as members grew too old to be "Kids" and were replaced) who performed watered-down and cleaned-up versions of pop music standards of the era, with most of the Kids noticeably pretending to play their own instruments (they did sing, though).

The show managed to jump start the careers of several big name stars. Among the cast were:

Ah, Martika.

The moment I saw her on the show, I thought - she's going to be a very very big deal.

And I was right . . . for 15 minutes. If ever there was a woman who thoroughly mismanaged her blossoming career, it was her.

She is making a "comeback" with a new band called Oppera. It is her and Michael Mozart with Mike Fess on drums. They have made two albums She even has a fan club.
About 1990 her albums were successful in England and Europe then after a couple years she dissappeared from the music scene.

I remember Kids Inc. but of course never watched it. A lot of talent came from that show but Martika is now a 37 year old goth sort of Cher or Madonna wannabe who is currently playing nightclubs and other small venues.

Haven't saw the show (would like too) But found out about it when reading a Fergie (Stacy ferguson) bio.

My sister was talking about this today...she's ten years older than me and she said she LOVED this show. She recorded some episodes, and I have to say, it is WAY BETTER than the dumb cartoons put on Disney Channel right now. They should just have this channel where its all "Vintage" shows. I mean, Boy Meets World has lasted on ABC Family, but I'd like to see ALL the old shows.

They should just have this channel where its all "Vintage" shows. I mean, Boy Meets World has lasted on ABC Family, but I'd like to see ALL the old shows.I wish they would do this too. Nick did it with GAS and NOGGIN, although primetime on NOGGIN is new shows.
