View Full Version : Jungle Cruise Quick Tips for Scoring Over 30,000
MrGenie 04-22-2006, 06:33 AM There is a more thorough Jungle Cruise thread over here (http://www.vmkforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=275), but I know a lot of people are still struggling to score at least 30,000 (required to complete the Space Mountain Tomorrowland quest). If you want the full strategy guide please see that other thread. Otherwise, hopefully these quick tips will be sufficient:
1) Never hit the Up arrow (this makes you lose gas twice as fast).
2) Take photos right before the animals disappear (this maximizes your points).
3) Photograph all of the animals (you get plenty of film).
4) Pick up all of the film and gas you can without running into rocks. If you steer carefully, you will have plenty of film and gas to complete the entire game and shoot all of the animals.
That's really about it. My second point has been widely disputed, primarily because the points shown on the screen after you photograph an animal are WRONG. Trust me...you get more points for shooting the animals as late as possible. You can verify this in your album after the game where the correct points are displayed.
hauntedguy 04-22-2006, 06:36 AM Thanks for the tips Genie! :)
crystalseeker 04-22-2006, 06:43 AM Yes, thanks for the tips. I'm terrible at the jungle cruise game, but these tips make me want to log on and try them out. Unfortunately it's closed now, so I'll have to wait until morning. :)
MrGenie 04-22-2006, 06:45 AM Yes, thanks for the tips. I'm terrible at the jungle cruise game, but these tips make me want to log on and try them out. Unfortunately it's closed now, so I'll have to wait until morning. :)Yeah, I'm kind of a tease that way. :D Good luck tomorrow! I bet you can score more than 30,000 (and perhaps 40,000) on your first try.
Oathkeeper 04-22-2006, 08:01 AM These will probably help me in the future; I already barely managed to get 30,000 on the game once to get the blue suit, but if I want to go for another color these will probably help. I always seem to get 28,000 and then die in that last room before the room-with-no-point, aka the starting room where no animals pop up yet there are twice as many rocks. But I didn't know you get more points if you take the pictures later; I always panic at the end of a game and take pictures of everything in sight before that last 15 gas things run out.
I once got a score of 29,992 after about 1 - 1 1/2 hour of playing. That made me pretty angry..
BestGuestDrummer 04-22-2006, 04:29 PM thanks genie. the high score is now mine! muahaha. (yeah i wish)
bopper 04-24-2006, 04:45 AM Another thing to do is play with a real-life friend. Have one of you steer, and one of you click the photos.
MrGenie 04-24-2006, 04:48 AM Another thing to do is play with a real-life friend. Have one of you steer, and one of you click the photos.Rather than worry about steering, on most screens where an animal doesn't appear right at the entrance, I just keep tapping the Down arrow key every second or so to keep the boat in place. Then, once the animals are done appearing, I steer the boat through the screen, picking up the gas and film on the way. It takes a little more gas, but probably less gas than crashing into something and you should still have plenty of gas (as long as you don't hit the Up arrow key!).
Spacepiratejosh 04-24-2006, 04:28 PM Thanks for the awesome tips Genie.
Jolber 04-24-2006, 10:39 PM its weird that you get more points if you make the photo later then earlier, even it does say Awesome or Flawless with much points
Extras 04-24-2006, 10:52 PM It took me four tries until you showed up! lol Ttyl
frozngingerbread 04-28-2006, 10:27 PM well guess what i actuall finished the jungle cruise game on my first try..i know u hate me..you jealouse yet..lol

Athena 04-29-2006, 07:10 PM Just wanted to add my own note to this.
For many months, "crashing for credits" was a major source of my VMK income, but I had never played a real game of Jungle Cruise. The most I had done was practice shooting photos while the boat was on auto-pilot, and that was only a handful of times.
So I was a bit concerned about the Jungle Cruise score requirement for the Tomorrowland quest, because I have trouble doing two things at once in games.
I tell you, nobody was more shocked than me when I (barely) got the needed score on the first try. I guess all that crashing was a backwards way for me to practice steering. I did have to make some mental adjustments; "No no, pick up the gas and film, don't avoid it!"
Anyway, my point is this: It may be easier for some of us to practice steering and shooting separately, before we try to do both at once. Kind of like learning the right and left hand parts of a piano piece before combining them.
And if you've ever played Jungle Crash, you may be better at steering than you realize!
Wow, that is really cool! Glad it all worked out :)
Athena 04-29-2006, 07:11 PM hey could i give u my username and password genie and u could win it for me
No. Don't do that.
1. Not safe to give away your user and password to someone you don't know.
2. YOU are supposed to win the quest, not someone else.
3. Don't you think that is like cheating?
Sorry for the double post
Maribeth 04-30-2006, 10:58 PM OK First off.. THANKS GENIE!!!!!!! I got 40,000 points the first time I played using your tips, finishing the game for once, and with more gas than I've ever had.
Second point: I think its best to take pics while navigating the rocks, then at the last second before going to next room, hit the back arrow until they stop appearing, then continue.
Third: I tried it, and what happened is the earlier I took the pic the better my score. So.. Idk
Mousetyme 05-01-2006, 07:01 AM Thank you MrGenie,
Up until today, the best I could do in JC was 15,000. After I read the part "Do not press the up arrow" I knew my mistake. :)
My first game using this hint, over 30,000 :D And I had 187 left in gas with plenty of film left over. Amazing.
Vergency 05-01-2006, 07:16 AM 2) Take photos right before the animals disappear (this maximizes your points).
Trust me, you get more points the faster you take them (I've looked at the point values, not the ratings (ie. Excellent, Good, etc., etc.) and they are more the faster you take them and the bigger the animal)

First off thanks MrGenie for the guide! Second, I tried to do it as late as possible (sort of) and tried to take a pic of the animal as soon as possible and I agree with this.

ToothPaste 05-16-2006, 08:13 PM Thanks for the tip Genie! :)
captmetal 05-17-2006, 01:36 AM ppl trust him when you use the up arrow ive been getting to 120 gas though the game until i stopped and ive been getting 201 throughtout the WHOLE game, yes 3 stages. and my best was 39,780. but its very close to a tent room code. and also, when you do that 30,000 will become nothing. A mere practice, to get a tent room code practice and get up every motining early to get in the high score list to get a tent room code. good luck :)
Amberina 05-17-2006, 03:44 PM also, dont give up! i played 4 times not succeding, and i got so bored i was going to stop. then i decided to try 1 more game, and i managed. never stop
AceNick 05-17-2006, 07:36 PM Thank you so much Mr Genie! I just scored 54, 360!! I am so proud! I thought I was going to be on the leader board, but someone else had just got in a hundred or so points higher. No worries, tomorrow I will play VMK as soon as it opens, watch out for my name on the leaderboard! ;)
