View Full Version : Recent and future DCA improvements
figmentisback 04-22-2006, 05:54 AM The hollywood backlot received a mini upgrade when monsters inc opened, they added stuff all over that area. They also added a marquee to the animation building.
Soon project sparkle will be heading for the entrance and sun plaza...
What do you think of these enhancements to DCA.
What would you like to see for future enhancements...
GreatGatsby 04-22-2006, 05:58 AM To be a little more detailed, based on comments by Bob Iger, the new Disney CEO, the company will soon be removing the CALIFORNIA letters from the front, the mosaic entrance, the Golden Gate Bridge, and the huge gold sun in the plaza.
The implication is that the park's California theme will be removed or modified.

What?!? No more California! What will they do with the park, rename it something else besides California Adventure? By the way the remodeled stuff is nice and the Monster Inc. Attraction is like a 45 minute wait everytime I go lol.
figmentisback 04-22-2006, 06:14 AM The theme is being modified, it will still be california adventure...
Just themed better
Imagine entering a rustic california.. Better entrance than what they have now, tacky tourist central...

LOL That'll be so cool! I think they should do it in like California's Time periods like gold rush etc.
EyeBK 04-22-2006, 06:22 AM Well, I wish they would keep the CALIFORNIA letters there, but I kind of hope that they improve the theme, the style of some things makes me think like it is the 80's or 90's of California.
technogirl 04-22-2006, 06:28 AM I remember seeing the CALIFORNIA letters for the first time. I hope they reconsider and on't take it down.
GreatGatsby 04-22-2006, 06:28 AM LOL That'll be so cool! I think they should do it in like California's Time periods like gold rush etc. That may actually be part of it. One of the rumors is they might be theming it to Walt's early days, and give the park a 20's - 30's feel.
Since nearby Knott's is abandoning their old 20's section, this would not be direct competition.
FlyThenFall 04-22-2006, 07:01 AM Last I heard, I thought they were thinking of a Spanish Mission railroad station to replace Sunshine Plaza, ditching the Enginears Toys and Greetings from California architectural styles...and the giant hubcap! And Al Lutz says they're looking at a a new "shooting gallery" ride a la Buzz...throwing Maliburritos out for a new entrance!
Well...DCA's future is bright, I must say.
Neoteny 04-22-2006, 03:28 PM I like the California letters, because one of the letters is my initial, so it makes for good photos.
figmentisback 04-22-2006, 03:59 PM The leters won't fit with the new northern feel of the entrance.. That and they do not help when you see dl's line going past something and dca's line barent making to the letters.... They were part of an older era, now they are fixing the park up to attract people...
I think they have been doing surveys for a few months and finding out what people like and what they would like to see in dca...
(More shade, less visable concrete.. Less empty areas...)
