High School Musical 2 is the sequel to the Disney Channel Original Movie, High School Musical, set to be released sometime in 2007 (tentatively January 19th), although rumors suggest Disney is trying to move up the release date to sometime this fall.

Bill Borden, producer of High School Musical, said the film is meant to be a three part telefilm.

Zac Efron, Vanessa Anne Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, Lucas Grabeel, Corbin Bleu, and Monique Coleman have been confirmed to return for the sequel, as well as the director and choreographer, Kenny Ortega.

The producer for High School Musical reported to a recent online newspaper that the plot is currently being edited and has not been finalized as of yet. "Currently we are in the process of making the final changes to make High School Musical, the sequel, even better then the first." Rumors speculate that Sharpay and Ryan will be causing chaos in an attempt to restore the "natural order" that came forth by the nerds gaining popularity with the Jocks and give them their own social high back. High School Musical 2 will test the character's true feelings and trust for each other. When hearts start breaking the only thing that will come forth is true friendship and the start of something new.

Rumors

-During the process of gaining their position in the social ladder back, Sharpay damages the relationship between Troy and Gabriella.
-Sharpay fakes getting drowned to make Gabriella jealous when Troy gives her CPR.
-High School Musical 2 will feature the same amount of songs.

If it is going to be better, I sure hope they work on the acting and the their lip singing. I was not very impressed by their performance. It was so easy to tell they were lip singing during the movie.

Well, they sung in the recording room or something, and then they put it in with their lips while shooting the movie. They can't just all do it at once, imagine how long it would take! Don't worry it is their voices.

I think they have major potential with this movie. However, they need to work on a few small areas to make it better than the old one. They need to make the songs match the actors lips. In HSM, the music and lips didn't match up and it made it seem unreal. There songs are good, but they would need to make new songs for the new movie.

As for the 3rd HSM, I would suggest trying to do something way out there because so many triliogies have fallen short on the last part (ie: Zenon, Halloweentown)

the reason they have them lipsync is that if they did the dance moves while singing, they would run out of breath and you would notice a dramatic change in their voices.

You know what, I didn't get what all the fuss was about HSM, being a 15 year old guy, to be honest I couldn't care less about it! But the other day I finally decided to check it out after buying it off ebay for my sis (as we live in England its still not on our DIsney Channel).
And to be honest....... I actually enjoyed it. Cheesy may the songs be, they we also very catchy.....even lead me to buy the album off itunes!
So IMO I say give the sequel a chance. I wouldn't be anything that it will be better than the original YET....as it is a SEQUEL!!
Anyway, I say bring on HSM 2 !!!!!!!!!1
