The Mickey Mouse Club was a long-running American variety television series in the 1950s, produced and televised by Walt Disney Productions, featuring a regular but ever-changing cast of teenage performers. Like many Classic Disney franchises, Mickey Mouse Club was created by Walt Disney.

Each show would have a dramatic portion in which teens faced challenges in everyday situations, often overcome by their common sense or through recourse to the advice of respected elders. It was hosted by Jimmie Dodd, a talented music writer and the "Head Mouseketeer". Roy Williams, an artist, also appeared in the show as the "Big Mooseketeer". Dodd died in 1964, Roy Williams in 1977.

What about the Mickey Mouse Club group from the 1977? The group that had Lisa Whelchel, Mindy Feldman, Curtis Wong etc. does anyone else remember watching them? :happy:

Monday: Fun With Music Day - Mickey appeared wearing a striped jacket and carrying a cane. The Mouseketeers wore their usual name shirts.

Wednesday: Anything Can Happen Day - Mickey flew on stage on a magic carpet wearing his sorcerer's robe and hat. The Mouseketeers wore different costumes since anything could happen.

Friday: Talent Round-Up Day - Mickey wore a giant cowboy hat and was doing rope tricks with a lariat. The Mouseketeers all dressed as cowboys and cowgirls.

Tuesday: Guest Star Day - Mickey wore formal white tie and tails. The Mouseketeers were dressed in jackets and bow ties (the boys) and in fancy dresses (the girls).

Thursday: Circus Day - Mickey wore a circus ringmaster costume. The Mouseketeers were attired in circus and freak-show costumes (clown, acrobat, weight lifter, bearded lady, etc.).

I didn't watch in the 70's (as I wasn't around yet) but I was an avid watcher in the late 80's - mid 90's (pre Justin, Brittany & Christina). Anyone else watch around that time? Back when Disney was a premium channel like HBO, lol.

Remember the letterman jackets they wore? I actually have one! It's too small for me now though. But it even has my name on it! :)

I was a member of the Mickey Mouse Club as did many children in the 1950's and 1960's. The kids could join the club and get a little card saying the person was a Mickey Mouse Club member. I do not remember when I got that card but have it somewhere. I saw repeats of the first show and was to mature for the later versions.

There was the 1977-1978 version which lasted 132 episodes (5 times a week) and then there was the longer running 1989-1994 version called MMC, The New Mickey Mouse Club and The Mickey Mouse Club. The 1977 version had the kids in brightly colored ears and clothes.

The show in 1989 had some future actors or stars like Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, and Christina Aguilar but most never acted again or are doing small parts. Lisa Whelchel was the only member from the 1977 version to become a star and she quit after Facts of Life.

Tuesday was “Let’s Go Day” when the Mouseketeers to a magic boat to places like Yellowstone National Park.
Wednesday, “Surprise Day”
Thursday was “Discovery Day” which was the day for learning and exploring.
Friday was “Showtime Day” which was the day they had various talents on the show.

I remember them as it was the new Mickey Mouse Club and I was into all things Mickey.

I barely remember the 70's version . . . and Lisa Welchel was a standout on it.

And I remember a shot of them in the front of an arriving Monorail while the song was going something like
