Make sure you bought them at the Magic Kingdom park, and in the same building as VMK Central on Main Street...

The code is on a card they give you after you buy the hat... If you bought the hat and did not receive a code; you may want to try the "Contact Us" link, and tell them your situation...

one way to tell you're buying from the right place is if you see a sign near the cashier that has the vmk symbol on it and a picture of the vmk gold mickey ears. i remember seeing that when i bought my mickey ears at the Hatmosphere in DL.

At Disneyland it is the same way, buy ears and they are suppose to give you the VMK card.
If not, ask for it, and if they say they don't have it, keep your receipt and ask which stores give them out. Simply show your receipt at one of those locations and they will be happy to give you a card.

Actually.. You can buy any type of ears. I went to DL and the sign states," Buy a real hat and recieve a virtual one!" It doesn't matter which hat you buy, exactly.

I have five pairs of gold ears; the lady working at the hat store near VMK Central on Main Street saw me carrying a whole handful of Quest cards and she tossed me a couple of gold ear cards! I'm so grateful and I'll be happy to trade a few of them away. :) PM me if you're interested.

If you're looking for the regular black Mickey ears, you have to create a Born-in-Park player using a computer at WDW or DL. The Born-in-Park characters get a whole host of extra stuff; they get one of each starting room, as well as multiple posters, pins, and extra items, including the black Mickey ears and the Tomorrowland 8/9 pin. The Born-in-Park characters also have the green "Born in Park" badge.

After you buy the Real Gold Ears, make sure you ask the cashier or sales atendant about the code, because the actual code is not on the hat, its on a card thats given to you by the cashier :)

you don't have to buy "real" gold ears to get it. If you are in WDW go to the hat store on Main Street. Just buy a hat, any hat. Make sure you ask about the VMK card. Sometimes they just don't give them to the people. If you are in DLR, it's the same thing. I think the name for the hat store there is the Mad Hatter's. In WDW its The Chapeau (I think).
