I may post the winners of the awards later on.:) futuremartymcfly 03-06-2006, 02:39 PM Gosh is the Music category unreliable. How did Gustavo Santaollala win over John William's Memoirs of a Geisha score?? I mean this was Williams' best year in ages, probably not since 1993. Exoxus 03-07-2006, 01:01 AM I was very disapointed Tim Burton lost over Wally And Grommins: Attack of The Frankenbunnies or whatever. Corpse Bride had well better everything! It was funny at the opening to see who was going to host. GreatGatsby 03-07-2006, 05:05 AM Gosh is the Music category unreliable. How did Gustavo Santaollala win over John William's Memoirs of a Geisha score?? I mean this was Williams' best year in ages, probably not since 1993.I have to disagree about Williams' score to "Geisha." For one thing, A.I. was a far superior score, so 1993 is probably going too far back anyway. I've not heard the Brokeback Mountain score, so I can't judge it, but looking at the history of the Oscars, it probably won because Crash was not nominated and Brokeback Mountain was pretty close to getting best picture. The voting members do not judge a film score on the merits of the score, only whether it was the music for the Picture frontrunner. Hence scores like Titanic, the English Patient, and Chariots of Fire winning over better scores.I was very disapointed Tim Burton lost over Wally And Grommins: Attack of The Frankenbunnies or whatever. Corpse Bride had well better everything!I also disagree with this, but then again I usually disagree with someone writing the wrong title on purpose. It tends destroy any credibility of the comment being made. futuremartymcfly 03-07-2006, 03:00 PM Yes, I have realized the academy unfortanetly votes for the film not the music, but the win for Brokeback is pretty rediculous, and i really think that they should change the rules and actually Stick to them. Brokeback mountain literally had only thirteen minutes of music, and according to the academy's rules it shouldn't have even been nominated. However, its not just the length of time its the overall quality too. Its basically a simple guitar playing subdued music not getting into any thematic material. your right though, 1993 is going a little bit too far back, but imho ai isn't superior to either MOAG or Munich, but, again IMO, it is instead SPR that is a superior score. smrtfriendship 03-07-2006, 11:45 PM I thought the beginning of the show was pretty funny when they were trying to introducing the host. jdrocks 03-08-2006, 03:56 AM I saw it funny! lol JackeryB 03-20-2006, 05:51 PM I was very disapointed Tim Burton lost over Wally And Grommins: Attack of The Frankenbunnies or whatever. Wallace and Gromit: Attack of the were-rabbit actually, and if you lived in the UK you would understand how good this movie is. |
