Greetings Forum Pals,

Yesterday I was at DLR for my nieces Birthday, woot woot.

We went to the VMK booth to get here first set of in park quest cards,
And we were surprised to find out some very imporatant information.

*I did look up in a search to see if this has already been posted,
But was not able to find any "Confirmed" info regading the following*

We have all posted here and there with some speculation,
But not until now has this been confirmed:

After handing out her set of cards,
The VMK staffer flipped the cards over,
And pointed out the fine print on the bottom which states:

Redeemable through September 30, 2006

Apparently the VMK Staffers have now been instructed to point this out to all guests aquiring a set of cards and ensure that the codes are used as they will expire by that date and fail to give the prizes afterwards.

They did not know anything about wether the game would be shut down after that date.

They did not know anything about wether these cards would be replaced at that point with a new series of cards.

They only knew that these cards would no longer register in the system after September 30 2006.

If Yavn or anyone else has any info to aid in this confirmation,
Please post here and share more info on this thanks.

I looked at all of my spare cards that I have been saving for a rainy day,
And it does say redeem by September 30, 2006.

So the information must be true and accuate,
which is a bit of a bummer.

Greetz,

From what I've heard, VMK will shut down around 2015 (the date stated when you get banned for 'life')

The September 30, 2006 is probably to protect Disney - the Tomorrowland Quest said December 31, 2005 - but you can still redeem it. ;)

My 2 cents - don't always trust CM's, they don't ALWAYS know what they're talking about... :D

Hello,
Persons have been speculating as to wether the VMK game would continue after that date as the game was made to cross promote the 50th anniversary of the DLR.

So what I mean by the game shutting down after September 30, 2006 is:

The VMK staffers as of this point dont know if the game will be shut down after September 30 2006 and continue to exist.

Also the Tomorrowland quest is Redeemable for "Cards" in the park, which also states or while supplies last.
However the tomorrowland cards that you can still receive from the expired Tomorrowland in park quest state if you look on the back of them that the codes must be redeemed by September 30, 2006

We don't know how successful the game is...

We don't know how Disney is defining "Success" with this game...

This could have just been a "pet project" Disney was trying out...

But I honestly don't know how they're making money off a game (that's FREE, for one), and allowing the in-park quest items to be so easily attainable; without actually having to go to a Disney park...

Probably the survey results (This game makes me want to go to Walt Disney World and/or Disneyland), will tell Disney whether or not VMK is actually working, and if it's a good investment for the company...

BTW: Really good Update, never heard of this information before...

Thank you for the info but i think that is just an experation date like the tomorrowland quest. I highly doubt VMK is going to close this year. It is probably just an experation date.

Hi everyone,
Just for the record, and in my other (2) Two posts,

I have "NOT" stated that "VMK WILL BE CLOSING".
Only that you "SHOULD USE" any of your "UNUSED" VMK cards,
That "STATE ON THE BACK OF THEM": Redeem by September 30, 2006.

The VMK Staffers at DLR were instructing everyone,
To use your VMK card codes by the Redeem date of September 30, 2006,
As after that date the codes will no longer be valid.
While we got my niece her cards they told this to may people.

When we got there in the am,
She was told this before she started the quest by the am staff,
When we turned in the quest cards at night,
We were told this again by the pm staff.

Also, Yes, you can use the "Old and Expired" tomorrowland quest sheet,
To get the Tomorrowland VMK Cards.

However the tomorrowland "Cards" you receive,
From the "Expired" Tomorrowland quest,
State "On The Back" of them,
Redeem by September 30, 2006

*Im sure The VMK game will continue after September 30, 2006.

*Im sure they will make new cards after September 30, 2006.

*But if you have any un-used VMK cards,
That have a redeem by September 30, 2006 date on the bottom of them,
I recommend that you use them by September 30, 2006,
As they will expire and no longer be valid.

Another great example of VMK's intentions,
That currently released card codes will expire,
And should be redeemed by September 30, 2006 is:

The New Monster Inc Golden Teleporter Cards.

Take a look on the back of those.
They were just printed and released a few weeks ago,
For the opening of the Monsters ride.

If you look at the fine print on the bottom of these "NEW" cards,
They also state to use and redeem through September 30, 2006

Anyone ride Everest and get the VMK card they are handing out there yet?
If so, could you please check what date they state to redeem by,
And post it here?
Those are the most recet cards released, so that info would help.

As with all things,
Time will tell wether they stay redeemable,
Or not after the expiration date on them.

I too wish and hope the cards will stay valid,
For use after their expiration date,
Dont think I will be taking the chance though.
I worked hard to attain my collection,
And wish to enjoy the prizes the codes are valid for.

Use this information as you will,

Cheers,

HauntedGrim

1) Is it a success? See press release below, Not a bad result in 7 months, although I personally am not sure with their figures (only 1.3m rooms on 1m characters?)

2) How they make the money. Easily, I live in UK I was in Magic Kingdom, Florida Last October again at Xmas, Will be there again in Aug and again at Xmas, 4 times in 14 months, Next time I go I will be spending around £800 ($1,400) on tickets. When there I buy hats to get Gold ears, Photos to get wanted posters, pins for codes, I buy Food, drinks, candy........
VMK is far from free to us.

NORTH HOLLYWOOD, Calif., Feb. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Barely more than seven

It very well might be the codes expire so that they do not have to "save" the codes forever in the vmk computers. It takes up computing resources to keep the code information around, so if it expires then if nobody redeems it by then, they can delete that information.

There has been no announcement in park about when they start giving out cards, but it will probably not occur until the offical opening on April 7th.
