EXPEDITION EVEREST
The Legend of the Forbidden Mountain
Serka Zong, 1802
There is a village. This village rests at the foothills of a giant mountain, where snow falls year round, but the temperature is always warm. This old village, called Serka Zong, which meant Mountain Domain in the ancient language of Tibetia, was rumored to be protected by a monstrous guardian who kept the village in constant balance with nature. Most of the villagers claimed that the Guardian of the Mountain kept them safe from terrible accidents, such as avalanches or giant blizzards.
As time passed, the Serka Zong inhabitants began to wonder what exactly was protecting them. In an attempt to answer their inquiry, they built an old railway system that was to go through the mountain. During the first journey, the expedition team found a huge plantation of tea, which they felt would solve their financial hardships. More time came and went, and soon Serka Zong became extremely wealthy off of the numerous crates of tea that were brought back after an expedition.
On December 18th, 1806 disaster struck. Some members of the expedition team went up into the mountain, only to be frightened by gigantic shadows that kept running along the mountain walls. Eager to return back to Serka Zong, the members of the team went to drastic measures. They knew that a shortcut out of the mountain could be found in the very hub. Little did they know that the legendary Guardian of the Mountain dwelled within its boundaries. As the train pulled into the cave, the members of the team heard a huge, ear-splitting roar, and suddenly their train instantly plummeted down the face of the mountain, landing in the rocky stream of water surrounding the mountain.
Ever since the accident, the fear of the mountain among the people increased incredibly. Their “protector” just turned into their nightmare as the village below the mountain received word of the deaths of the expedition team. Search parties traveled into the mountain in hopes of locating the members, but most came back seriously injured, and others did not come back at all. The strange thing is, no one who ever saw the mountain monster could come back and tell what they were up against. All they knew is that anyone who was foolish enough to travel into the domain of the creature did not come back in the state the entered.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And now, the year is 2006. The amount of technology has increased greatly, and scientists are now finding ways to “safely” investigate the mountain, though none have ever been brave enough to enter it. Most people now need to find out what happened to the village of Serka Zong after the accidents, and after many years of research, science experts have created a way to temporarily re-visit Serka Zong as it was in 1802. So join us on our expedition as we travel to the “roof of the world”, when the first story of the legend, Expedition Everest: The Legend of the Forbidden Mountain releases in a VMK Central near you.
Part I of the adventure comes "roaring" to you on Wednesday, February 8th, 2006.
