Tips from one who watches the newbie pirates:
1) Try to shoot from far away, especially at the beginning of the round. You get more points, and you are safer.
2) Keep moving when you shoot. Don't be a sitting duck.
3) Circle the pirate. If you are near a pirate ship, shoot, and then move a quarter circle around the pirate and shoot again. Then move another quarter circle and shoot. The Pirate can't keep up with you and shoot at you.
4) On level 2 the "light beam" makes you invisible, so go in that. On level 3 you can click on the skull icon at the bottom to become invisible. Apparently you can do this more than once per round but you must wait a period of time before you can use this again.
5) Make sure you keep an eye on your health (the little boxes) and ammo (the little cannon balls) on the bottom of the screen and replenish when necessary. Or you will die. To replenish look for floating boxes and cannon balls and drive through them.
6) (this may be obvious) You shoot perpendicular to the direction you are going, so plan accordingly.
7) Click once on the place where you would like your boat to go to. To shoot, double click on where you want to shoot. The cannon balls will go the correct way, you don't have to use the arrows.
8) Ask nicely of the people in the lobby if anybody will help you win at level 1. They may not be able to get into a level 3 game, so maybe they will help you win!
9) If you die, you can double click on your dead boat to "explode". Do this when the opposition is near by and you can help sink them! Beware of the oppositions dead boats, they will try to do the same!
10) If there is a pirate ship on your team that is just hanging out, sort of lure the opposing pirate ships to it by going near the other pirate until it starts coming after you, and then head toward your pirate ship. The other pirate will help you out!
11) Bonus: Only play with people on Red. If you are playing against real people on blue, it is much harder. Go against those dumb pirates instead.
