******* is a bit different because ******* allows HTML coding, Nick has made the wise decision to not allow HTML for security purposes.

Is there a simpler way to make your background a different color? I'm technologically impaired.

I'm not sure if you can answer this, but I'm wondering, how do you make a moving avatar? I can make a normal one with paint, but I'm clueless on how to make a moving one.

You need an animation program for making animated images. Try doing a google search or something for free animation programs :) I normally use Microsoft GIF, which is free. I also use Jasc Animation Shop, but that came with Paint Shop Pro 9, which costs money xP

Staff does watch the players, even though they are not there. They do this to moderate the game and keep us safe :)

The problem is that the background you llisted is on your own machine, and the rest of us have no way to get it off your machine. (At least we better not!)

You should upload this to a site such as imageshack and then use the URL that site gives you as the background.

as Prisoner said you need photobucket or imageshack to host the picture giving you a link that ends in .gif form or jpg, but also make sure you put your information below the <tr><td> and when your done with your info be sure to add a </td></tr> </table>

lol gif is just a file name for when you save an image. you don't download anything its just what you can save your picture as.

Thanks for all this information, I was actually unaware that you could utilize html for creating your personal pages. I have attempted to perform thread posts using tables but was unsuccessful. Macromedia Dreamweaver MX here I come this week :-) Seriously, Thanks Mr.Lunatix for these wonderful posts there are some pretty good basic websites on the internet for html, but unfortunately I do not want to post them here because of house rules. First things First. OMG I love that Background, Final Fantasy X is my absolute favorite game.

ok Now onto your help.

1) The main problem people keep on having is the Background, because Nick disabled HTML its technically impossible to have a Background using standard HTML coding. I know this means nothing to alot of you, so I will try to explain it to the best of my knowledge.

Table- A Table is a Organized Layout for web pages. For our Userpages, we must have a table in order to have a image or even colored background (anything other then that grey!).

Lets think of a Webpage as Chores you have to do around the house. You have a list of things you need to do.

So with Tables . You must have this information on your (chore) list.

Now the reason people are getting confused is because of this part, everything that you have created on your userpage including title, everything needs to go where I am typing. So when editing this information delete all of this in bold. and replace with your information

Yes when you subscribe to a large mailbox or any other of the offers, you get a user page as a added bonus! To me the user page would be why i would buy the subscription. But thats just my opinion :)

Hey Mr.Lunatix:

I know you have your own web page and have done some html development before, its actually sometimes really hard to understand how you can use html type code when the html functionality has been disabled. I know what your saying since I have my own web page but some people may still have trouble understanding when your actually still using HyperText Markup Language (HTML) tags. Anyways, I wanted to really respond regarding the music quote above because you can also have background music which has been embedded into my page before the table tags, for example:

<BGSOUND SRC="http://home.comcast.net/~tigger12372/Audio/theme.mp3" LOOP="-1">

The tag above actually plays my Winnie The Pooh theme song, but its a little different than how you embed your music into the web page. The difference being is end users cannot control/turn off/etc my background music, since its not actually place on the screen for users to see. Check out my user page if your confused, and hopefully it does play :-) At least, It plays for me but I wanted to provide other options for people also on placing music within your personal page

You can't paste a image from another website onto your own. You must right click the image, and click Properties, find the Image link that ends in .jpg or .gif or whatever image file, and then paste it in between this

Layouts are extremely tricky, If your almost a expert at editing the code then its possible, however I honestly don't know myself, so i Wish you good luck.

It is more like you didn't include where you put it. I'm just guessing, but I think there should be something after the "filepath=" part of the URL which indicates the file that should be downloaded.

I think this is happening because the board puts a <br/> at the end of every line, even if you put in HTML effects where a <br/> is not legal. One solution is to put all your effects on one line.

ok, I need some help here. I'm trying to get some music for a userpage on another site ( same rules as here; not html ). I downloaded a music file from a site, extracted the files from it also, as it was zipped, but I still can't find out how to find the url, as it only tells me where it is in my folders. Anyway, what can I do here? BTW, the song is Simple and Clean, the Kingdom hearts theme.
EDIT: I found out the answer by myself, only to find the hosting site i was going to use couldn't accept uploads at the time...

THat happened to me. I solved it by just continuing writing my userpage and it seems that wherever text is (or spaces) the backround goes up. Sorry if you cant understand this lol.

NOTE: If you have a BIG image and not much witing or spaces it will cut the image off.

I'm trying to make a little table of contents, where if you click a link, it will scroll down to a certaint section of the page (Similar to the table of contents on Wikipedia, or Disneyonlineworlds.com)... Now, my question is: How would one accomplish such a task?

This is HTML that I'm not sure if it is allowed or not...
Bold = You have to change it
italics= Not part of the code

Here's the code:

You put this where you want your table of contents (toc) to be.

This goes after each section of your page, you put this and it will take you back to where you put that ^

How do i do Back grounds
With this code for a image background:

For a colored background, you will need to change where it says 000000 to another color code (that is black). A good site is: http://www.thenetter.com/scripts/hex-color-picker.html Simply click the color you want. Then type the numbers/letters you see on that square where it says 000000.

how do you make pop ups?

Pop ups are a javascript code and those don't work. You would need to edit code in another part of the page which you can't edit. Sorry.

I have a reasonable question now. On my userpage, my background only takes up half the page horizontal, even though it is big enought to fill the entire space. It just cuts away. Is there any way to fix this problem?
I think you mean that it won't go out of the table the background is in. There's not a way to fix it because HTML isn't allowed (well, the background code anyways) so its stuck like that. Sorry

You just need to link the URL of the userpage to the picture you want.

So upload a picture with the paperclip icon, or upload it onto a site and put [IMG] Tags around it. Then highlight the [IMG] tags with the picture's URL, then click on the Globe/Clip Icon to insert a link you want it to go to. Then that should do it.
