View Full Version : The latest on the DLR quests...
MonkeyBoyJoe 01-24-2006, 06:56 AM I was at Disneyland today (1/23) and this lady was doing the quests for her kids and I noticed she had gotten a Haunted Mansion card in her stack. So I asked to see what she had gotten for doing all three quests.
It seems like they really are trying to get rid of all their cards and may be doing new quests soon because when she got for prizes was really really bad. For the Fantasyland, Adventureland and Frontierland Quests, she got the following: 3 Haunted Mansion Graveyard Trees, 3 Fantasyland Retro Pins, 3 Adventureland Retro Pins, and 3 Huntsman's Heartless Hamper. The three regular Tomorrowland prizes are still there though (Stitch Teleporters, Teleportation Magic and Magenta Rocket Couch). But seriously, that's some really ****** prizes there compared to what we were getting before. I feel bad for those that are starting or just able to do the quests at this time.
Also and update on the Gold Doors and Magic Mirrors: The guy at the Monsters, Inc. ride said they should be getting the cards tomorrow and start handing them out on Wednesday. Assuming they get them tomorrow as promised. The lady at the magic shop said they were told they were for sure getting new cards and it should be in 2-3 weeks. And they were told that 3 weeks ago, so they should be getting them soon. She asked if they were magic mirrors still and they would not tell her what they were going to be.
technogirl 01-24-2006, 06:58 AM Thanks for the info! Maybe I'll go in 2 weeks to check things out there...
Caterpillar AEIOU 01-24-2006, 07:04 AM The Lady at the Magic Shop kind of lead me to beleive that there would be a new SERIES 2 of Prizes when you buy stuff.
Maybe the prizes will be the same, but in different colors> I am not sure .
I would like to see some new things.
I cant see myself buying any more T-Shirts, Pins, Magic Tricks, Hats or Candy ( OK, maybe the candy) unless they have new prizes.
I was spending a lot of $ just to get the cards, but i will need something new to motivate me.

cptnruthless 01-24-2006, 07:24 AM hey, catepillar, you know you dont HAVE to buy stuff to get the cards.. just ask nicely! :D
ChipDale 01-24-2006, 04:06 PM Thanks for the info Monkey Boy! I am hoping that they will allow those of us who did the quests less than 90 days ago to do the new quests.
hauntedguy 01-24-2006, 04:10 PM Well I'm going to Disneyland this Friday!
Sno Chic 01-24-2006, 05:26 PM Has anyone heard any information on the 50th Anniversary Quest at DLR?
Caterpillar AEIOU 01-24-2006, 05:57 PM Thanks for the info Monkey Boy! I am hoping that they will allow those of us who did the quests less than 90 days ago to do the new quests.
I was wondering the same thing.
They let me do the Holiday Quest on December 23, even though I had done all of the other Quest at the end of October. They even let me turn in the Tomorrowland Quest again.
I think they are just trying to get rid of the cards that they had.

NaviMap 01-24-2006, 06:27 PM It seems like they really are trying to get rid of all their cards and may be doing new quests soon because when she got for prizes was really really bad. They are getting rid of the discontinued quest cards since the insider tour has been long over. Last time i checked, they are no longer giving away pirate quest cards at Disneyland Park as a reward for completing all four quests.
The cactus armchair, Fantasyland & Adventureland Retro Pins, all Haunted Mansion cards (except Invisibility Magic) and maybe some other cards (it usually depends on what the cast members have) have been given out in the "cave" room computer area (the area next to the elevator, not the cactus VMK room) on the 1st story of Innoventions as part of a VMK Scavenger Hunt Game put together by the Innoventions cast members whenever there are enough players in the room. The cards they give out and the times they do it are very random but be nice when the cast members if there will be a VMK scavenger hunt.
I'm guessing its a temporary thing they are doing as a transition to a potential 50th quest which probably will be released much later in the year. A new in-park quest is much farther down the road, i wouldn't expect it anytime soon.

Yes, there are Series 2 prizes. Have you noticed that on the holiday cards it says Series 2 at the top?
cptnruthless 01-24-2006, 09:26 PM retri, i think he was talking about series two of the in-park items (red penny, magic mirror, gold ears)
ClubDisCM 01-25-2006, 12:04 AM Hopefully I'll be going early next week and can get those gold doors. They better have them by then.
manunderwater 01-25-2006, 12:19 AM Well I'm going to Disneyland this Friday!
Hey! I'm going to Disneyland on Friday too!
Yes, there are Series 2 prizes. Have you noticed that on the holiday cards it says Series 2 at the top?
Btw, she meant when you BUY stuff
MonkeyBoyJoe 01-25-2006, 12:39 AM They did retired the cards, but not all of them are being GIVEN out just to get rid of them. I had a bad Pirate Stool card which they were nice enough to exchange for me and they have the remaining pirate quest and haunted mansion (room and invisibility) and holiday card stored in a drawer in one of the back rooms. They just haven't been told what to do with them yet. As for the scavenger hunts, so far they seem to only be giving out the cactus chairs, adventureland retro pins and fantasyland retro pins.
In regards to us annual passholders, we WILL be able to do any new quests. You just can't do the SAME quests more than once within 90 days. UNLESS of course you get a REALLY REALLY NICE cast member who lets it slide. :P There was a cast member yesterday who actually gave a new player a set of cards (didn't see which one) just to start off even though she "wasn't supposed to." Lol.
And yeah, for the stuff you get when you buy things like the candy store and hat stores, it all depends on the cast members. Some give them out, others strictly ask you to buy something. Some give more than 1 card if you buy something. And some give you as many cards as you ask for. :P
Monkette 01-25-2006, 12:47 AM Thanks for the info.
I am going to Disneyland in March or Late February so I will let u know how things are going then.
Chirpin 01-25-2006, 01:47 AM i am going to disneyland friday to but at like 6 o clock
Goldhunt 01-25-2006, 02:41 AM so u think if I ask nicely they will give me a HM room code maybe if I pay?
manunderwater 01-25-2006, 02:45 AM no you get that by a scavenger hunt not buying stuff
MonkeyBoyJoe 01-26-2006, 02:15 AM Okay, I went again today and here's the latest:
Monster Inc. Gold Door cards are being given out. They hand them to you as you enter and they cards are attached to a larger card that advertises VMK. I guess they're using the ride to promote VMK. A lot of the people I was in line with were looking at the cards with quite a bit of confusion. So I'm guess a lot of these are going to be wasted. I'm thinking they may be limited too as the top of the card says, "CONGRATULATIONS! You are one of the first to ride the new attraction MONSTERS, INC. MIKE & SULLEY TO THE RESCUE! Here is an exclusive virtual prize for Disney's Virtual Magic Kingdom." Also, it's card #18 of 30 in Series 2.
The Magic Shop has gotten cards in. They're the same Magic Mirror cards.
And the scavenger hunt in the VMK room in Innovations is now down to Adventureland Retro pins and Fantasyland Castle Retro pins. :(
ChrisR 01-26-2006, 02:17 AM do you think there will be some costumes in series 3?
DisneyL8T 01-26-2006, 02:45 AM Thanks for the info! :) Now I can go to DCA without worrying whether I will be able to get the card or not.
Cool! Could someone post a scan of the card, please? :)
MonkeyBoyJoe 01-26-2006, 02:57 AM I'll try to do it later tonight.
MonkeyBoyJoe 01-26-2006, 06:41 AM Here's scans of the cards:

Gotsumgame 01-26-2006, 07:35 AM Well, for the Adventureland and Fantasyland and Frontierland quests, do they no longer give the quests pins out either? I mean, did they resort back to series 1 quests? I'll prolly go soon, so I'll find out :D
