Everest is not scary it is a family ride. The yeti is not scary he is cute and fun loving and my best friend. WDW and Disney in general try to make their things family related so everyone can ride it. It is not scary trust me.

HAHA i do not know which ride you are talking about but there is no 80 foot drop backwards. There is an 80 ft drop really smooth forwards. The backwards portion is just a helix (a spin in a 360 curve going slightly down). Trust me if you are tall enough you will love everest.

Here are just a few notes that most members are tripping over frequently.

The total height of the mountain 199ft. If it was 200ft, they would have to put a beacon at the top for aerial travel
The drop IS NOT backwards
You will travel through HELIXES backwards, not big drops
The steam engine is in the BACK of the train, not at the front. This is probably why members think that the drop is backwards when they see the engine coming down last.

SpottedDog
01-26-2006, 02:08 AM
Actually, Passholder owners can start riding tomorrow. We are most likely going Fri., Sat., and Sun. I also heard when you go on it you get a free E.E Pin and Lanyard.

01-26-2006, 02:12 AM
Passholders can only ride tomorrow during a set amount of time. I thought it was only between 10am-12pm, but their media day was today. During the official passholder weekend, Annual Premium Pass Holders can ride at any time during the day (this applies to regular Passholders), as many times as they wish (I am not sure about the regulars, but the Annual Premium Passholders can ride as many times as they want). You only get one pin and lanyard per person per day.

Try to clear your mind i know it sounds difficult but if you clear your mind it will help you face the fear. Think about something else or try to enjoy the ride. You never have to be forced to go onto a ride remember that. If you dislike roller coasters i would start small and work your way up. It usually helps people and i told the people this exact same thing and after 2 rides on a looping roller coaster they loved all roller coasters.

It's not the ride that's doesn't make you not want to go on the ride, it's your anticipation that does it. Do not overthink the ride. Just get in line and ride. This is what I see a lot of times:
Person 1: I don't want to ride. Noooooo. It's too scary!
Person 2: Come on, please ride. I can't go on if you're not. Please!
Person 1: Noooooo. It's too scary!
Person 1 finally drags person 2 on the ride.
Person 2: Omg! That ride was so awesome! Let's ride again!

Sometimes, the ride you're most of afraid to go on, is later you most favorite ride.;)

Guys, i rode the ride, it is AWSOME. The first time i rode it, i was in THE BACK. The most intense part. The ride is great but i reccomend it for thrill seekers
If i ever make a chart, which i guess i am now, the lowest is less intese and highest is most intense, i give it a 6.8 Intense.

One thing about Expedition Everest; I love the ride, even though, guess what, I HATE ROLLER COASTERS!

So, I sit in the very front, which contrary to popular belief is NOT the most intense ride. (This theory has been tried many times by myself on rides such as Star Tours and Big Thunder Mountain; the back of the train gives the best/scariest ride with more air time and whip action.) Anyways, I sit in the very front so if I lean forward I don't even feel the drop at all!

And going backwards is so cool! It is a bit unexpected in a way, because for some reason everyone in my party was expecting to be turning to the right when we were going backwards, but we ended up turning to the left; quite disorienting.

A bit of advice if it's scary to you; sit in front and go on a VERY sunny day. Even in the middle of the mountain you'll be able to see stuff. ;)

Go on the ride in the winter when your frozen the drops are like nothing in the winter to me
Have your friend blind fold you until you get on the ride. LOL

actually no offense but you are sort of wrong. You actuallu drop backwards, in fact you have too, if you didnt you wouldnt have the the momentum to be able to climb at that steep hill. Yes big yes!!!!!

Everest is mostly about themeing not a big thrill seekers camp out. If Everest was not themeing there would be 150-200ft drops. Still a great ride.

And there is a drop backwards about 10-20ft. Not that big it just gives you speed to go through some helixs then up a short hill.

NO 80FT DROP BACKWARDS!!!!

YES 80FT DROP FORWARDS!!!!

Everest is not scary it is a family ride. The yeti is not scary he is cute and fun loving and my best friend. WDW and Disney in general try to make their things family related so everyone can ride it. It is not scary trust me.
well if they do that what about Tower Of Terror??

Tower of Terror is still family oriented i have seen little kids get on that ride. It all depends on if you can handle the exiliration of the ride that is all. Tower or Terror is more of a Teen ride i agree but as i have said little kids can go onto it too.

We went this year, and my five year old, (then four) rode it and laughed the entire time. I could not get him back on it but he did not freak out. I actually loved the smoothness of this ride. When I finished the ride, I did not feel like I had just taken a beating from the one eyed, one horned flying purple people eater. :)

Everest looked scary to me but half of me was like "Oh come on you wimp it'll be fun!!" when the other one was like "NO WAY" When I finaly draged myself to the riding cart thingy I was shaking fuirouisly. I calmed down right before we went upside down LOL and I kept hearing these shreking sounds and turns out I was making most of them and my friend too. LOL It was a awesome ride and I would have definatly rode it 4 more times if I hadn't thought I was going to pass out from dehydration (spelling?) -.-

Expedition Everest is not as scary as you think it is. Just go on it, I'll bet you will want to go again. If you can go on Rock N' Roller Coaster, you can go on Everest. Everest does not go upside down, like Rock N' Roller Coaster does. And you don't go as fast. On the Rock N' Roller Coaster, you go 67 miles per hour. Rock N' Roller Coaster goes from 0 to 67 in 2.86 seconds. Where as Everest only goes about half that speed.

I can't even go on Rock N' Roller Coaster :D and that's because I am scared...

I didn't think it was all that bad, but then again I got a great way to be unscared.. think about something else.

I was thinking about choking all during that ride. That was the least enjoyable WDW trip I have ever been on. I was coughing through the whole ride and when we went down that drop, I was doubled over with my eyes closed trying to breathe. Ug.

I like ToT so I doubt that would be scary for me anyways =D

I am not a roller coaster fan at all, but I always try each ride at least once. I have to say, I liked Everest due to the smoothness of the ride. No jerking, lumps, bumps or neck wrenches. I laughed most of the time.
I dislike ToT, but didn't hate it. I think it took about 30 mins for my stomach to catch back up with me.
And the Rocking Rollercoaster, well, let's say I did it, and won't be doing it again. It lives up to it's name.
Mission Space ( I did the green side) and loved it. Laughed as I watched the big macho men ahead of me (who took the orange to impress their dates) walk out very green. I don't do spinning of any kind, and orange is all about spinning.
Soaring was wonderful, and I am afraid of heights. This ride did not scare me at all, it amazed me.

That sounds doubtful....... and I mean the 30 times in the front row and all. everest is not too scary ecept for the steep hill incline in pitch darkness portion and the yeti, and the drop- so I guess it is that FUN scary effect.

oh, and all the little kids will love the 80 feet backwards drop...
rofl

that is a lie, the one in WDW goes backwards, and is about a thirty foot drop, but none going backwards.

AstroScarlett
11-03-2006, 03:06 AM
To confirm everything up...
Yes it does go backwards

and yes it is an 80 foot drop - but not backwards :)

I have proof it is 80... splash mountain has a 50-60 feet drop... I remember reading in a Disney magazine that Everest would be the most biggest drop in WDW.

I asked a CM how long the drop was and it is 80 feet :)

avastpirateace

technically the official drop is 120 ft. but they included the turn at the bottom since it is slanted down a little but it is only 80 ft. normal drop without the turn at the bottom included

Uh, no?

Everest's drop is 80ft with the turn-around element included. The only element in the ride that meets or exceeds 120ft is the chain lift itself.

According to my friend (I haven't ridden Everest yet), if you can handle Rockin' Rollar Coaster, you can handle Everest.

It really isn't that scary.
When I went to DisneyWorld I went on Everest and I took my mom on it. -.-
My mother hates Roller Coaster type attractions. But she loved it!
At first you might think, "It's going to be really scary!" But it is a very fun and fasinating ride.

I admit the ride is not scary. The mountain it self is a scary site. But IMO you enjoy it more if you go into it thinking that, there are always some first ride jitters. I love the ride and it is the best ride at any one of the 4 parks in WDW Florida WOOT WOOT. Rock N Roller Coaster is the 2nd best Rollercoaster and is also awesome, but my #1 must see at WDW is Expedition Everest, it free can rocks big time! I love to ring the bells in line Woot, u have to wake up the Yeti!

Scary? It's *******' cool!!! Backwards, forwards, stops, yeti shadows, awesome sound effects! My sisters said they got a headache after the ride, but I was sitting there giggling after 20 seconds of the ride! I' coaster freak, so its hard not to find a fast, dark ride that I'm not going to like.

no the AP said it was 120 ft. a few days before it opened but they included the turn bc it slightly drops down some
