Hi everyone! It's Thunderslam here. Well, although the better half of you don't know who I am or how my VMK personna looks like, you'll notice there's no pointy haired (My avatar is from WAY back), credit-plenty kid following Shiregirl, Alexander, MrGenie (I refuse his new name :D) or MisterToad.
Well, it's time for me to explain things. You see, I departed for my Asian tour early in the morning of the 17th. We flew to LA via plane (No, we flew on a carpet ), a flight that lasted a petty 5 hours. When we landed, it was 8:00. Not bad, huh? Well, when we were at the airport, my dad threw me a HUGE curveball. He said the magic words! Right when we got of the plane, he said "So... wanna go to Disney?"
Well, I was completely floored. Disney. 17th. Great. Chrome. Burrito.
I mean a visit to Disneyland, nice. We go to a Disney park of sorts once a year. But on the 17th? Right on the day Disneyland was opened 50 years ago? BOOYA!! Mind you, I was still trying to cling on to the last parts of my sanity as I was slowly being swept into the whirlpool of emotions.
Well, now to explain why I'm not posting this in the "goodbye topic" and hopefully save this for the general populus to read, rather than cut through pages and pages of teary goodbyes to search of what became of our beloved Thunderslam. Well, this is a chronicle of my journey though the floods of people to get on my favorite rides, much like those pioneers 50 years ago, exploring what would become the happiest place on earth.
Well, let's cut to the chase, shall we? ;) Well, we just managed to catch the openning cerimonies with speeches by Disney Co's most important figures. But what I really liked was the fact that they gave out free Golden Ears with the date July 17, 2005 sewn on the back. That rocked. :D
Anyways, time to cut to the VMK chase, because I could go on for miles about how cool the 50th Birthday was. When I was at the VMK center in what was the former Carosel of Progress ("It's a great big beauiful tommorow..." GAH! It's still stuck in my head!) , I was amazed to see all of the people playing (But I ws even more amazed by how close some got to the screen! They were like 1 inch infront of the screen! O_o). Well, thanks to the help of MisterToad and wdwr, I was well on my way with the Tommorowland quest. With the help of a kind store manager at the Star Traders shop, I was able to decipher his Jedi-style riddles to find the rare Tree of Technology and the Rocket pods (Turns out I was walking around it all along! :D). Well, I now am the proud owner of a teleporter, couch and a teleport pin. Though I did not complete another quest, I still hold out hope for having yet another day at Disney after my dad was greatly (and visibly) dissapointed in not being able to go to the rides in California Adventure, a park that we saw being built back on Disneyland's 45th anniversary. Well, if we do go back to DIsneyland, you can count on a VERY happy Thunderslam coming back to VMK. On another note, I spoke with a cast member and they said that there are *plenty* of quest rewards, so don't fret! There's still alot!
Well, tha's all for now! Catch ya on the flip side! (Literally, I'm in Singapore :D)
PS: Although I AM in Asia, internet is scarce here. Not so much scarce, but my dad doesn't allow me to use iot because it's too "expensive". :( Apparently, 5 dollars is unreasonable...
