Hi, I need some help with a percent problem:
Isidore bought a radio at a sale where all prices were reduced by 30%. If the amount of the reduction was $45.75, wat was the original price of the readio?
Wat was the new price?
I have the answers for each question, but I don't understand how u find them though. The answers for the first question is $152.50 and the second question is $106.75

If 30% = $45.75, then you need to find what 100% is. Divide $45.75 by 30 and you get $1.525, or 1%. Now multiply 1% (which is equal to $1.525) by 100 to get 100%, which is $152.50
So if $152.50 was the original price and the radio was marked down by $45.75, all you have to do is: $152.50 - $45.75 = $106.75
Ah, the days of percentages. Now I'm in Algebra II. If you saw what kind of stuff we have to deal with, you wouldn't grumble so much! ;) What is Un = Un-1(1+[.31/12])-40?

Suppose the original price is x. Then you are told that x * 0.30 = $45.75. Now just solve for x. x = $45.75 / 0.30 = $152.50.
