I Honestly Love them Both.But my heart stays with the DS Since i am a fan of NINTENDO.Though Sony Rocks Too..If we had not had Sony..NO METAL GEAR SOLID :( Most of my favorite Game are on Playstation of course..but i still LOVE DS

i voted the DS of course. PSP doesnt focus on games enough. all they care about is the added features like movies and stuff like that. In my opinion, Nintendogs is not as much as a sucker punch as people think. At first glance and play, it is awesome, but after a while the gaming becomes repetitive, boring, and the dogs feel more like any other virtual pet than they do actual dogs.

Actually, if you compare it to other games of the same genre (First Person Shooters, or shooters in general), you would see that Metroid is toned down ALOT. In fact, Goldeneye for the Nintendo 64 (bonus points if you still havn't sold yours LOL) has more violence and... ah... bodily fluids leaking out... than Metroid ever will. Despite what I think is a Teen rating, metroid is for the kids.

Another case in point: Super Smash Bros Melee, rated Teen.

Ah. Yes, there I am defeated in terms of "kiddie" games. However, it may be that Nintendo is just trying to reach a wider demographic (little kids don't always get to buy video games that end up being rated Teen, even if it does have cute little pokemon in it), but Nintendo's primary target has always been and probably always will be kids.

That brings me back to my first point on the PSP being a big technological advance. Sony Doesn't come cheap, especially when they are years ahead of their competitors. But, in my opinion, it's worth it.

I hope not. There is already enough debate between two handhelds, thank you! lol. Actually, Xbox wasn't doing so well until the 360 came along (which will probably be outdone by the PS3, especially since Bungie is planning to publish Halo 3 to both consoles), so it will be almost as forgotten as the Gizmondo (which, actually, came out a few months ago. Go google it up, and laugh your heart out). However, as each handheld has their sucker punch game (DS: Nintendogs, PSP: Internet browser), people may actually buy it if they release a portable Halo.

By the way, I personally perfer DS over PSP in graphics and games. Most of the games on the PSP are T or M games or are not even worth it. The Nintendo DS provides a wide range of games from E-T (Nintendo's usual game range). PSP is more of a -adult/teen-only- game system that has a low range of games for kids. The Nintendo DS, as from the original explanation, was for teens/adults and kids. In other words, did anyone ever realize why it's "Nintendo DS", but not "Game Boy DS" or something like that? Well, it's from what they said, the "Game Boy" prefix attracted merely (and usually) kids. The Nintendo DS is better than the PSP in many ways, but also offers an array of features that rock the PSP. I do agree, though, that the PSP has SOME features better than the Nintendo DS, but the DS is far better than it :).

dude its to play with no cords, not at ur house, at anywhere, enabling it to be online *ds onlines better* itd makes the only difference between the consoles is the graphics, which isn't that important if you have good gameplay *animal crossing has both* *so does nitendogs* * so does viewtiful joe* * so does fifa 06* (all of those are on the ds)

elementsun you sound like a major fangirl no offence lol! i am fanboy too though xD. anyway i picked DS because the psp doesnt really focus on games. its trying to be like the number 1 whole bunch of things in one thing. yea i have both the DS and PSP but i have more fun with my DS. i dont really care though cuz i dont really even buy UMDS for my psp, my brother was able to hack my PSP to play old skool NES and SNES games :D

When I got my PSP I didnt know how to do anything but I got the hang of it and I love it!

Here is what I think:

PSP has really got for the look and style to try and win it over. It has:
UMD videos
Ineternet Connection
Good Graphics
And loads more features. But to get all this will be pretty expensive and is it worth it?

While DS has got:
Dual Screen
Microphone
Stylus
WiFi Connection
This all comes at a low price.

I dont know how any one can say that the PSP is years ahead of the DS. Does the PSP have a Dual Screen or Microphone. But then again does the DS have Graphics and the ability to play films?

PSP has alot going for it but it is really expensive and in my opinion lacks in good games. Sure the games look superb but the gameplay doesn't seem that good. I think this is because Sony has focused so much on the other aspects that they didn't put enough effort in the games. From what I heard I don't think PSP's or PS2's can last that long even if you take superb care of it. I have had 2 PS2's and 1 PSone both have broken which doesn't give me a good impression of the PSP lasting that long.
The Prices: (don't know how many dollars sorry if anyone would be able to find that out for me that would be great)
PSP - £180-£190
Games - £35
So overall you would be spending £200 and the UMD videos do not come cheap either.

Whereas the DS is produced by a Pure Gaming Company- Nintendo with much experience in the Hand Held gaming Field. Nintendo dont focus on looks and graphics; just pure gameplay, therefore they're console is almost half the Price of a PSP and that is with a game included (Overe here in England at least)
The Prices:
DS- £99.99 with Nintendogs/Mario Kart and Essential Pack (best offer I found)
Games - £30
SO you are paying quite alot less then the PSP there.

Finishing off, I think the PSP relies on The PS2 and the design for it's success and the DS realies On its Innoactive Gaming and new features. I personally prefer DS because last time I checked you buy a console for gaming, not confusing gadgets and all that. To me the PSP seems a bit of a risk in buying because I don't know when any games sutiable for me are going to come out, and how long my PSP will last for.. it has been not even a year sonce it has came out and I hear stories on how the PSP has broken already. DS with it's games and reliability seems a safe bet to me ;)

My Reasons:
PSP: has better graphics than the DS does
it can hold music, pictures and more
wireless multiplayer with friends
games with more features and variation within them

Nintendo seems to heavily rely on old franchises to keep them going. A good example of this is Mario. Every week or month there seems to be a new mario game, or a new game based on a character from mario. there are so many that i get sick and tired of him. Mario Kart, Mario Tennis, Mario soccer, Super Mario Kart are just some of these games. The PSP however has an entire range of games, many of them are exclusive to the console with wide exciting storylines that can change every time you play the game.

Another thing to remember is that this is Sony's first hand held on the market when the DS is a console developed in the mould of Nintendo's past successes. In a couple of years time when both these companies have new consoles out on the shelves we will have another debate about which is better: the psp 2 or the nintendo ds 2, because i think both these consoles will have made a huge advance but i think sony could take the title of best hand held away from Nintendos consoles.

Well, I can go on vmk on my psp.. and I can play movies on it.. and there are game.. and the DS is awesome too, so I say both!

I played the PSP for the first time on Christmas day...

and I have to say... I have nothing badly to say about it... It has awesome graphics, and the screen is HUGE and crystal clear, which is really expected because Sony excells so well in electronics...

I first got my Nintendo DS last Christmas, and also have nothing badly to say about it... (Now that there are actual games for the system now!...)

Each are extremely different and exceed well in their own ways...

BUT: I'm so happy to see that 3D graphics are now capable on a handheld... (that was only a dream back when Gameboy Color, and its inferior games, compared to Nintendo 64, came out)

PSP

Why?

1) It has way better graphics

2) You can get wallpaper and music from your computer

3) You can get on the Internet with it

4) You can store video and music and pictures

5) You can watch movies and play games

6) Because I got one for christmas

7) You can play VMK on it

8) You can totally customize it (I even made my own wallpaper for it. See below)

(I can see this turning into a large flame-war than it already is, so I won't post why the DS stinks. Athough it doesn't)

You can? last time I tried, it said something to the effect of: "Your browser stinks too much to play VMK" (obviously not their exact words), although that was back when the PSP browser first came out.
